  1. The "Man on Fire" ass bomb thing is definitely better for striking terror into your target than trying to keep a gun up his ass while threatening him. From a chemical perspective, dropping him into molten iron at about 500C should effectively break down the diamond skin.
  2. In the words of Butcher, it's diabolical. If you want to hide the existence of a serum that creates supes, you distribute it all over the country so it looks like a random event, like the X-Men. You use it in the NICU because if the baby dies, it's less suspicious. Also, Vought needs more heroes all the time as they expand their customer base. Except religious people exist IRL and superheroes do not.
  3. Will he be using it on intergalactic wifi? Actually, finding a charger might be a problem, too. This planet sucks. Etherea sounds too much like the planet He-Man comes from. Isn't that forest in Sanctum (the anomaly) glowing all the time, too? The aliens probably weren't thinking of dumber aliens finding them. Imagine someone leaving a chainsaw for cavemen. It might be awesome at some point, but not before a lot of people get dismembered. The suits are also pretty important and should be used at all times. They also probably don't break as often when JR isn't writing their travelogue. Is the flame destroyed? I mean, obviously it's not, but I can't remember when it was presumably destroyed. This is getting like the last season of Deep Space Nine, where there was the war plot parallel to the mysticism part and they never really met up. One just finished before the other one.
  4. You know how some (pre-COVID) restaurants started migrating from a "salad bar" to a low-end buffet? This is how I'm looking at new Trek. Paramount had a lot of money tied up in Star Trek because of merchandise alone. Back in the 90's, they expanded to TV and had 2 simultaneous Star Trek shows on from 1993 until 1999. Eventually, the writing got stale (some of the writers were on their second decade writing for various iterations of revival series) and fatigue set in. Instead of 2, we now have 3 series in contiguous production. Picard has just finished up with little to no interest. Lower Decks and Discovery were already in the can before COVID, but didn't have international distribution because Netflix and Amazon both apparently passed. The last animated Star Trek was like a 1/2 hour version of the original. This series is a ship filled with terrible officers, crew members at Barclay levels of maladjustment and a lead who is basically a Dirty Harry clone.
  5. I saw Rich Sommers on Penn and Teller: Fool Us. Apparently, he's been a fan of them since childhood. I just wonder if they filmed it before or after he knew his character's fate on In the Dark.
  6. Is there a scenario where killing Russell / Shitheda weeks ago would have been WORSE for anyone? This is the lamest kind of Xanatos Gambit where the stakes are 100 times less than what's going on in Bardo. So, Jordan figured out that it's Judgement Day, which is what Becca said about 300 years ago. Is this going to be like Red Dwarf's "The Inquisitor" where they are judged by their own standards? Clark could beat that rap from her self-righteousness alone.
  7. Looks kind of click-baity. I never heard of this site before. Plus, Seth is pretty open about the show with the fans and he hasn't said anything yet. ETA: I just looked into this. The author of the article became very vague on twitter about sourcing for the article, then blocked all the critical tweets. Tom Costantino from "The Orville" responded there was no truth to this made up story. https://twitter.com/waytoomuchbeer/status/1289678234871726081
  8. This season is so full of people I not only don't care about, but can't even identify. Like, who the hell is Nikki and why is she so pissed? Who's that moron who gave Shitheda the key to the cuffs? Then again, I know why Murphy keeps having to redeem himself. He killed his own people in the first couple of seasons. So, they have a war coming but they have no idea who they're fighting or how to fight them? Why is Clarke the key? She doesn't have the flame in her head anymore. So far, we have stupid domestic issues withe Sanctum which is turning Indra from a general to a police captain. You've got a bunch of Grounders, the people who survived from the Arc and some idiots from Sanctum who thought they were lead by gods. Plus, there's this "judgement day" arc where the war for humanity is being waged, even though there appears to be many planets where humans can populate and rebuild. I still don't see where the whole Shitheda story could not have just been lifted out of this and made no difference, except to give us more exposition of the potentially cool scifi stuff we're getting in bits and pieces. This is heading into Season 5 Andromeda territory, where they spent half their time at a bar, had a broken ship and massive time dilations to deal with.
  9. I remember Season 1 of lost. The show was already doing some of that stuff. When I saw the hatch open, I knew it was never going to end. I stopped watching until the last episode.
  10. Dammit! I don't have Netflix. I guess I'll have to wait even longer.
  11. I'm almost certain Becca landed near Polis and I'm pretty sure there were more people than the search party from this episode around. I don't have Netflix (or the episode number) so I can't check it. I do remember the "Commander" patch on her stolen space suit, which was supposed to foreshadow the whole "Heda" thing. But, according to this, Callie knew all about Becca. So, now there were about 95 years between Becca landing and the drop ship arriving in the pilot (97 - 2 years later from this episode). We've had maybe 12 commanders in that time (short gig) who are supposed to have the memories of the previous commanders (including the "dark" commander). While the Grounders aren't exactly big in the life expectancy department, Indra is in her late 40s. With a surviving group of maybe 2000 people after the nukes with a lifespan of 50-60, how did they lose most concepts of the world before in that short a time? Why do they all know English and Trig? The only reason for a second, made up language is for subterfuge. It's not that effective if everyone speaks it.
  12. Wow. This is amazingly prescient.
  13. This is mere speculation, but what if Bill somehow released ALIE to blow up the world? You can't have a cult without desperate followers. It would also absolve Becca of her major sin of the show, creating an AI that tried to wipe out humanity twice.
  14. There's also conspiracy to commit murder (setting up Gene). I wonder if they're going to try keeping Chloe, since it will make even less sense after this. Is this going to be a drug show, but with Gustavo, er, Josiah? I had assumed this was originally a drama with a blind woman, now it's a crime drama where the blind woman is put in ridiculous situations for a blind person (or sighted) to be in. They even added a guy losing his sight this season to remind us how blind people usually deal with the world.
  15. It's basically impossible to change DNA with one injection. But even given Becca's stupid magic blood, the Grounders would round up all the children every time the previous Commander died and had them kill each other until one survived. That will reduce the numbers pretty good. Also, the "Commander" label on Becca's suit has no significance because she never landed at future Grounder HQ under this retcon. There's this thing called polar coordinates that defines a relative location with 3 numbers. The 7 point stuff works for the Stargate when the symbols are actually constellations. But hey, let's introduce some more mythology, an evil dad and tie them to the history of the show. That's pretty much stealing from the iZombie final season. Becca's "judgement day" observation was annoyingly vague. Also, why are they mapping symbols all the time when the "key" seems to be an interface to the brain that lets you see how they all work? At least hook up a spectrum analyzer to the thing.
  16. For those with an antenna, CHARGE! is airing Magnum, P.I. A lot.
  17. I thought they were both in a car accident.
  18. Given how divorced this show is from reality, I think Dean's wife (Chloe's mom) will come back. We'll find out that Dean was actually trying to kill her and Chloe got in the way. Typical Dean, he screwed it up and she didn't die.
  19. It's hard to believe his union would let him leave like that anyway. The chief was probably trying to keep it quiet, since he tampered with evidence to keep Dean on the force. I also think he saw Dean as not having anything on Nia because the captain was (sorta) by the book. On the other hand, Dean just went full evil. The first time he worked for Nia, he was putting cops in danger, but mostly feeding intel to keep her drug operation protected. This time, he basically wrote Murphy's (and Max's) death sentence along with selling out Gene. It turns out he's the foil, so he probably won't be dying. I know what you mean, but it's still funny to think that Jess has to redeem herself. I mean, is she redeeming herself for not letting Nia die the first time or not wanting to be co-drug lord with Murphy? Darnell is Nia's brother. That's why she let him live. He might take over with her gone. So, with all the bodies and screwed up meetings, this has skipped over Breaking Bad and landed in Sopranos territory. They're probably going to the Pine Barrens next week.
  20. I despise this show for sprinkling in just enough sci-fi to keep me watching. There's this cool ass wormhole network and it's run by some megalomaniac masquerading as a god and his acolytes in full armor. Yep, it's SG-100. Except in The 100, the wormhole is just a timeline advancement device.
  21. Long term contracts are a way for studios to reduce salary increases if a show becomes a hit. Networks like WB and Syfy used to cancel shows after 5 seasons because renegotiating contracts would make the shows unprofitable. If you're a "nobody," the contract is favorable to the studio. You may get a payout if you're let go early. Other shows renegotiate before the contract is over as a good faith gesture to extend the future of a hit show. Do we even know the tweets weren't deleted? I'm sure they were screen capped the first time this came around. The CW had to scramble even more than other studios because they've spent the last few years committing to more diversity and it has not been smooth sailing.
  22. Time slot was terrible. If you don't like Mom, (which is a very different show) you had to just wait around for it. Plus, CBS doesn't put stuff online without the All Access subscription.
  23. Every actor should purge their social media and only retweet stuff from the marketing department. The downside is starting to outweigh the upside for this kind of communication.
  24. The cane thing (and the secured van dilemma) are making me think of this show as a low-rent "Breaking Bad" where the drug dealers are smart and lucky and cops are half corrupt and mostly incompetent. What happened the the blind hot mess who wanted to solve her friend's murder?
  25. Does this mean she can be the new Batwoman?
