Plus, Carson could argue that Karen was on a vendetta because she had a romantic squabble with him. It's pretty hard to legally justify a detective investigating someone they're dating, usually for the opposite reason.

S02.E08: This Christmas Was Surprisingly Violent

I'd like to hear about Damon being tortured to death by the families of his dozens of innocent victims from just the 2000's. -
Years of lawsuits have determined that anyone incarcerated has to be given certain allowances. In the US, it may even become difficult to execute people soon, because most other countries won't provide the chemicals for lethal injection.

So Rocky Horror exists in this world?
-
I think most of the people with the show are using the Tarantino example for the world of Reprisal. It exists in a place where the disparate things in it exist together. I personally think there are enough anachronisms in modern America that I can deal with it.

Speaking of earworms, seeing that makes me think of Battleflag by Lo Fidelity Allstars. That was playing during the scene.

When Kristen held the laptop up to her ear, I was thinking they were going to use the whole "high frequency only teenagers can hear" thing. That and the concept of subliminal messaging is real, but there's a lot of supernatural Spackle they fill into the gaps to make it possible.

Basically, Nancy has no "detective" skills. She breaks into places. Her signature solved crime was only solved because she was a kid and therefore drawn to Simon's location. I see why they don't use the "teen detective" moniker.

There were just tons of dumb serial killer tropes in this, like that they are geniuses who have meticulous long term plans and can outsmart everyone else.

If he had a secretary, it would probably be Lee from the movie Secretary.

Now I'm confused about the Phoenix rules. I thought Landon didn't come back to life until the sun's rays hit him. -

Compared to the Sebastian choking stuff, MG's light stalking is looking a lot better. The character of "Santa" has only been around for a century, but he's been in Malivore for most of that. But man, can Santa kick some Krampus ass. One thing that annoys me about these shows is that they have a school for supernaturals, but it's just a location for the super squad to fight monsters. It's BtVS with a different high school. They could set this in MFHS and not be much different. In fact, it would be less dumb because there's always the "hide Pedro and the little kids" part before the fight. -
That blindness / Nadia arc seemed to wrap up really quick. What was the point of all that?

Did anyone notice Carson took the wolf figure? Nancy Drew is real badass when she's spoon-fed all the clues. Apparently, she also can (and had to) take a punch.

I can deal with some level of anachronism. In the early 2000's corded phones and CRT TVs would be around in cheap hotels. And with some of this happening in"the South" there's a perception of vehicles that last longer and people who like tradition. I just needed to put a stake in the ground mentally and it helped me to accept the world in the other episodes.

At least in this universe, there are technologically superior species, some of which ignore the Union entirely. So, the Union is a subset of all the races in the galaxy. I tend to view shows like this as being an allegory for the human condition. So, the Moclans explore misogyny and the Kaylon represent the effects of an ever increasing technological society.

Man, I cannot get a bead on the historical setting of this show. Ethan has a flip phone though, so it might be mid-2000's Breaking Bad era.

This is why season-long serial killing villains suck. The "hero" ends up being responsible for months of deaths and terror because they won't use appropriate lethal force. Of course, now that it's "personal" they won't be able to find Alice until the penultimate episode.

They did puns every episode, but now I see they have to do a bit every week to advertise yet another crafting app.

I have a problem with using the verb make without a direct object, as in "I'm going to go make." That's an old euphemism for using the bathroom.
-
That assumes there was a time when demons didn't control the Phone Company.

Well, they had a story about a TV cop show loaded with inaccuracies, so they have some level of awareness.

I saw a lot of promotion in the Hulu show menus, which is how I got sucked into streaming Season 1 this weekend. Looks like Hulu is airing it next day, which is good because 10pm is pretty late on a weeknight.

Who thinks the guy with the broken brain actually killed his wife and just doesn't remember it? Oh, they did that last season.

Considering the number of situations Nolan gets into, he needs to carry a microwave transmitter with a nuclear power pack connected to a dead man's switch.
