In the Originals time line, Hope was at the Salvatore School for years because she couldn't get near her father or aunts and uncles to protect her from the Hollow. While she has relatives, she's spent her formative years at the school. I can definitely see how Alaric is the father figure in her life.

Hulu just added this season and I watched the episode. Leah is definitely a special case because her mother wanted to get out and Leah moved up when she got acting roles in stuff like King of Queens. It was interesting how the one sister remained just enough of a Scientologist so she could still communicate with her family. But All of Leah's family seemed to make a break at the same time. Mike is probably more typical. He may have been a spokesman for Scientology, but he was abused more because he was in the Sea Org. When he left, his wife stayed, the kids stayed and his mother stayed. That emotional blackmail of disconnection seems to keep Scientology members in the fold more than anything.

I really hope Kai is kept in reserve for at least another season. There's still like 5 years until the merge. The Josie and Landon thing makes sense in a world without Hope. It also opens up the potential for Hope and Raf to get together. Of course, this is similar to the kind of stuff they did on The OC when they ran out of ideas.

It's also sad that Betty's story about Fred was how he was her "dad" for an afternoon, which is similar to Jughead's story. The show never really showed Hal being a good dad, although it's likely Betty would have favored him given her mom's overbearing attitude.

Pretty much. Patricia Heaton is the star and protagonist of the show. It's CBS' version of The Rookie, where older people have an oversized amount to contribute in careers which usually favor younger people.

It's sort of an infamous sour grapes reaction where if you want to leave, the producers make it harder to come back. They killed of Col. Blake on his way home on MASH. They killed off Marissa on when she was leaving the OC.

It looks like the students are going to take a back seat while this turns into a workplace comedy. The new teacher is like the anti-Lainey who deals with the Principal and CB. At the same time, Lainey seems to be the coach's life mentor. The show is not quite the same as last season. Mellor is becoming more of a person, but Glascott and CB are caricatures. Plus, they seemed to run out of real-life interview segments.

When I cut the cable cord, this was one of the shows that was difficult to get without paying a lot of money or waiting an extra year to see it on Netflix (which I also dropped). I see that the show has become unworthy of my attempts to watch it now.

I don't think the department had a problem with it, Nolan did. He made a big deal about not even taking a free coffee from a diner. And West admitted to eating a bite of creme brulee on a lie detector test in that episode.

At some point, Nolan is going to need a TO, who I assume will come out of nowhere, since we never see any other officers on the show. Sarah Shahi is starting to become tacked on, which is why it looks like they're getting broken up this season. The most hilarious part to me is that they are trying to employ Nolan's super contractor powers, like the crawlspace thing or the fact he is now remodeling some dump instead of living in his friend's pool house. If this show makes it to season 3, I'm not sure where the "Rookie" part will be, except maybe West.

I like underdogs stories. It's why I liked Glee before they did everything but sing on the show. I'm not sure about the dead wife angle here. Couldn't he have just been fired for the chair throwing?

The "FlashPoint" episode of The Flash went along the same lines. Barry got the "better" outcome but the timeline was falling apart and he had to reset the events with the reverse flash. Even when he did, unexpected things happened like Cisco's brother dying. And Eureka actually used a reset to explore some different characterizations.
