  1. I don't agree with what you said but I'll add that Charlemagne the God was hilarious on Chatfish. No matter what's going on, I always hate to see someone get friendzoned. It's not always malicious. I have more of a problem who throw the just friends line you and then slowly (or abruptly) just stop talking to you. I've been friendzoned many times before (being a nice guy does suck in many ways) but what always hurt me if the girl/woman not even really meaning that. It's just their standard go to "let em down easy" quote. It's liked getting rejected twice in those cases. At least Samm seemed to genuinely mean what she said because they are still friends and talk everyday.
  2. Maybe it makes me bad tv watcher but I don't give these jokes much thought. You know like, Bow was rude or Junior was really done. It's just all for the sake of comedy. It's not like Diane is going to be broken up about it next week. For me, it's just a sitcom. I focusing on my laughter at Jack and Diane's facial expressions at the end of the scene. That's what I come for. I feel sorry for any black show though. I feel like there is always this pressure, to be something for a whole race of people. Like, we have a lesbian on the show and because that it has to worry about being another show where black people are homophobic is even one person doesn't go along homosexuality. I can't even think of a softer way to have someone not agree with homosexuality. Ruby overreacts like she often does. She's the only one who felt that way. And after she finally settled down and addressed the topic with her daughter, she got over it. Nothing about this is offensive to me. In another world, Ruby would have just agreed to continue to not talk about it at all with her daughter and would have been just as logical in the real world. They actually worked through it. People were even assuming Dre was going to be offensive about this and he didn't care that much. They even bucked that trend. It's like Cedric's character on the movie Barbershop with the whole "Rosa Parks aint do nothing but sit her black ass down". There was a minor uproar and call to boycott the movie because of this one line. Cedric's the only one who felt that way. The only one. It was clear that Cedric will just say what he wants and not give a damn. Everyone told him to shut up. So, because one person feels this way and says one line a whole movie should boycotted? I just don't agree with reactions like this. Not saying that anyone is going that route here. Far from it. But, Ruby represented one way of people react to homosexuality. Nothing wrong with that. No one was over the top rude about it and pretty much all accepting. Everyone just being, who cares, leaves no room for a plot. She was in a denial (or just didn't want to deal with something she's doesn't understand or agree with) and after it all came out, they moved on. All good work from the show to me. Also, lets be real, if Dre were unmarried and brought a white woman home,we then would have seen some offensive behavior by Ruby. What she did here in comparison to how she would react to something like that is down right sensible in relation.
  3. Except no one here was homophobic. I personally think that word is used too often out of proper context. No one here was afraid of a gay person. What we had here were multiple reactions to a situation. I don't mean that in a offensive way. I'm just saying that Dre's sister being gay was the plot. The kids don't care. Bow doesn't care. Junior is excited about it. Dre actually doesn't care either. He just doesn't talk with his sister about serious things. It really didn't have much to do with her being gay. There heart to hearts in generally are just surface level stuff. Ruby was just in denial which many parents (black or whatever) often are. Nothing offensive hear. There was no stream of homophobia here. It was actually refreshing. No one was really mad about it. There was no one thrown in a trash can.
  4. It's probably best if he can prove zombism exists and he that he's developed a cure. Plus I think the whole zombie thing is a lot more personal for him at his point because of Love. Clearing his name is one of the last thing on his mind. I wasn't talking about his whole life. I was talking about right now. I have a feeling he hasn't even bothered to date after he got stuck in the morgue and he sure hasn't on the show up until now. I'm talking about why he's single right now.
  5. I don't care about STAR Labs. Their security system, how they get paid, the jails, none of it. That's the least of their concerns right now. If Wells wants to get them, he'll get them. They and I have more important things on my mind when it comes to this show.
  6. It's easy for a guy to be single if he never approaches anybody. I'm sure he buries himself in his work and doesn't bother trying to date. I know from experience.
  7. Man, I literally disagree with everything you just said. A lot of fans (from I've read in different places) are fans of Lowell so her being with him isn't a middle finger to any viewers. Why do Ravi and Liv need to be romantically linked in anyway? How is this insulting? People clamor for male/female friendships all the time on t.v. We are actually getting one. I don't find that insulting. Veronica/Wallace was one of the main drawing points for Rob Thomas old series Veronica Mars. And they were just friends all the way through. Oh and Ravi trying to date Liv while rooming with her ex and she's dating someone else sounds like a terrible idea. Of course we are supposed to feel bad for Major because as viewers, we know he's trying to do good things. No one was making his girlfriend the bad guy. But, you can still feel bad for Major. Literally all Ravi did was ask Liv to find out she's dating someone. Of course, he could have done that himself but that's things friends do and they are best friends. Asking a friend to be your friend doesn't seem like a terrible thing to me.
  8. Don't hurt Ravi's feelings Liv. I don't like that.
  9. There is much debate over the use of women in MCU I'll be damned if most of the best written characters in the MCU aren't women. Watching Black Widow, May, Skye, Maria, Bobbie with a little Simmons thrown in having a fight scene all to themselves would make my life. Quite simply, outside of Cap, they are the best fighters in the MCU.
  10. No offense intended but I'm just kind of tired of female characters not being able to exist without them being a representation of something great. If a female characters dies on a tv show, that woman is being fridged. It can't just be a character death. Now, we have this kind of situation. Black Widow is in the same position as Hawkeye. They were designed to work within the Avengers stories. Not on their own. That's how I view them. I don't view them differently because one is a woman. Part of Black Widow's character, by design, is that she's a mystery. We get bits and pieces as time goes on but we aren't supposed to know much about her. It is also a constant debate as to if a Black Widow standalone in necessary. A lot people think not, therefore, all of her journey is done in other movies. And, this is a business. Whedon and co. wrote out most of the characters significant others because they didn't have time for it but audiences do love romance and things of that nature in movies and tv. But, this just isn't an issue that bothers me anyway. One of the most kickass characters in movies today happens to be a woman. That's great. It also hasn't changed because she's romantically linked to someone else. We have Antman (who will eventually bring Wasp), Captain Marvel, Scarlett Witch, Saldana on Guardians, Maria Hill and others on the way. Great female characters will not be a problem going forward and I'm sure they will be all great in their own right.
  11. Every single person in the Avengers (from Phase 1) has a romantic entanglement. But it's an issue with Black Widow because she's a woman? I don't care. I don't care that's she a female character in anything that she does. All I want is a well written character. A good character. Black Widow has been written better than most of her team members. You know so much about her without having to explore her full backstory in a movie, etc. She is a very dynamic character that you never question in this universe. While people are constantly making fun of how exactly Hawkeye exists in this world, most people don't give her a second thought. She's that great. Her and Bruce make sense in that they seem to both seem to be outsiders that feel they don't exactly fit in the world. They also seem to mentally punish themselves for their past misdeeds (whether in their control or not). We weren't even supposed to have Widow in these movies. Whedon wanted The Wasp (who pretty already has a built in romantic pairing). It was vetoed by the studio. Instead we got a kick ass female character that is far from defined by who she dates. No issue for me here.
  12. what do we even know about Hawkeye in these movies the assume anything about him?
  13. I'll say I don't agree with part about banner not being able to control himself in romantic situations. He has learned to control himself much better since then. By the end of that movie they showed he could bring on the hulk while being totally calm. He's still afraid of what he could do in general though.
  14. I'm sure a lot of Grey's fans went into this just waiting to hate it so it really didn't matter what they did. I enjoyed it for what it was. Derek's passing effected everyone in different/profound ways. He will be missed. But, that preview. Shut Up, Amelia.

I guess we will see where it actually goes. I don't read spoilers, so i don't know. But, onscreen, Laurel/Nyssa aren't coming off to me as much more different than Roy/Oliver. They could just as easy be a mentor/friendship bond and keep it at that. Also, I guess Nyssa doesn't really have reason to to call herself a lesbian or not. We've only seen her with Sara and she's not one to talk about her private life much. To me, the thought of Nyssa going from sister to sister is weirder to me than anything else (not that being a lesbian is weird).

This is just a question, not a attack. Has Nyssa ever said that she was a lesbian? I mean, I know that the fact that Nyssa is a lesbian being paired with a man has garnered anger from people. But, she's never said that. She was in love in Sara. Sara was in love with her while never be labeled that way by anyone. I don't recall ever hearing that being with a guy is an actual issue for her. Being with Oliver is obviously. But, I don't think it has anything to do with him being a guy.

I wish we could have seen Diggle in action tonight (out on the docks). But, I'm glad he was a proactive member of the team. It only took Oliver, Ray and Roy to be out of town to for him to get his shine but I'm glad it's hear. I only don't think Emily is good as these overwrought dramatic scenes. They don't anything for me. But, it's mainly the ones where she has to weep or almost weep through dialogue. It just sounds so hokey to me. I know Emily can be great so it grates more. The Canary cry was not good. I assume Diggle has earplugs in. I mean he knew she was going to use it so why would he not. I don't think the people behind this show are misogynists. The comic book world in particular has had it's issues with it's portrayal of women. But, with this show, I think they buck that trend on many levels. There are many strong female characters throughout this show. A lot of them have their own goals and protect themselves. They may need help sometimes but they all do. Diggle would probably be dead without Thea's help. Now, Ras is a misogynistic D bag. But, he's a d bag in general. He runs his society with a iron fist. He makes everyone around him do what he wants. All the characters in his orbit have suffered for it. Not just women. Being forced into marriage is not okay. But, I'm not angry at it because Nyssa is a lesbian or a woman. It's just bad to force anyone into marriage. A man and a woman are getting forced into this. Ras, I'm sure, give not one crap about Nyssa wants or what she wants to do. But, he has shown to be a terrible father, so nothing he does surprises me. Hey, I think we should hate villains and I can't stand Ras (for what he does). So, something is working. I'm not mad about the Thea being in the dark thing. There has been so much going on. At least, the characters are being told how terrible it is to keep these secrets. I think there will be less of it from here on out. Superheros and secrets go hand in hand so it doesn't anger me when a secret is kept. There is just a thing as too long. Papa Lance being left in the dark for half a season is the prime example.
  18. Erica turning back into a nerd is one the most obvious plot beats i've ever seen. And whatever, nerdy Erica is still getting dates. Braces, bad hair and glasses ain't stopping it.

My god, shut the up felicity. I'm just tired of hearing her mope and cry all the time. Damn , I'm actually missing her being with Ray now.
  20. The man is kidnapped and tied up by complete strangers and told to give information on Norma. He denies really even knowing Norma (which he did not have to do). They told him to give them dirt on Norma and brought client/patient confidentiality (which he didn't have to because, hey he has been KIDNAPPED). He takes a nail gun to the foot. Still says nothing. Takes hours of torture and has to face to prove it before he spills his guts. At that point, any normal person is giving all the secrets. Way before that even. The guy is just a doctor. He's a doctor, not a international spy. His poor decisions got him into this mess in the first place. Everyone agrees with this. But, what he tried to for Norma is much more than any person would or should have to put up with. But all of this equals someone who was waiting with anticipation to tell Norma's secrets. This was someone who didn't give damn about confidentiality. If that was the case, he would have spilled the beans before he ever got tied up. Do you see how all of this doesn't gell with your version of the events?
  21. Sean's "weirdness" is something many people are projecting on to him because they find him "creepy". The actual facts are that he said he would be fine with moving and then he backtracked on it. Something the experts can't predict. This is the main issue at hand right now (not the only one obviously). And with Jessica, she and the experts have made it clear that she asked for a tough, take charge kind of guy. That's what she was attracted to do. We have literally heard this dozens of times on air. She got what he asked for and she doesn't like it. Again, not the experts fault. And that's life. You can think you want this that and the other, But, the reality of those choices may be something you truly do not want. The people making the matches can only go by so much. Being dishonest in your application is not going to help you get the match you want.
  22. I give zero shits about the mysteries. The interactions between the cast is what I come for (and some of the zombie world building).
  23. I'm at a loss as to what else Major was supposed to do regarding Liv. He seemed to put his romantic life on hold for months waiting and being patient with her. She then made it clear she didn't want to be with him after all that waiting. I think pursuing anything after that would just be pathetic. And one of the reasons why he cares about the kids so much is nobody else does. Major can take care of his own feelings but these kids need his help.
  24. We seen evidence of people basically lying on their application (Sean) and Jessica contributing to the downfall of their relationship by letting Ryan steamroll over her (which is what she wanted by the way). So, they gave Jessica what she wanted and they could have not known Sean would basically backtrack on his agreement to move. Neither one of those are the experts fault. They can only work with what they are given.
  25. I don't know anyone would watch this show and not watch the movies in the first place. I love all of it. It's one big world. They only come out with a couple of movies a year anyway. It's always been one big crossover. That's the point.
