Joy and Austin: This One Time At Family Camp
Temperance replied to frenchtoast's topic in Counting On
The Gaines of Fixer Upper and Lauren's parents. Lauren's father is named Dwain and her mother is Lana. There's an unconfirmed speculation that all the boys have names that start with D and the girls all have names that start with L. -

TDS 3.0: Season Three Talk
Temperance replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in The Daily Show With Trevor Noah (2015-2022)
OMG! Trevor is talking about Obama, and South Africa and OMG he's showing us clips from when he was on Dancing With the Stars in South Africa!!!This is a great must see episode!! -
People are talking about baby names on the Jinger thread. The Bontragers had two babies born last weekend. They had three sons marry on the same weekend and two of their sons married two sisters. Each sister had a baby. One is a girl named Jubilee and the other is a boy named Wallace. Joshua Bontrager has a blog post explaining how they chose their boy's name.

If he goes the meaningful route, it will probably be a biblical name like Elizabeth or Eden. I already called Lydia awhile back.

It's hard to tell who's there and who's not. It's not clear who's sitting with Duggar boy on the left. But Jinger is due any day now. I had thought she would have the baby tomorrow, but it occured to me that Jinger may have already had the baby and they'll announce on Friday the 20th, which seems to be a Duggar reveal day. I agree it would be nice if the baby weren't born on JB's birthday.

Josiah and Lauren: He Has To Marry Somebody
Temperance replied to frenchtoast's topic in Counting On
About Josiah's wedding? There was a page in this week's People with Whitney Houston on the cover. I posted about it in the MEDIA thread. -
I hate reading people's toliet training discussions on social media. It seems a very personal subject about someone (i.e. the kid's) else's body. My fundie-lite friend is kind of a Duggar, with a lot of little kids. She tries to toliet train them before the new baby gets here with mostly successful results. Her kids are mostly between one and two years of age from the last one, but she feels it's necessary with an expanding family. Jessa may feel similarly if she has a third soon.

The Lonely Js Club: James, Jackson & Johannah
Temperance replied to SpaghettiTuesdays's topic in Counting On
Part of the reason it looks like Joy's & Austin's house is the size of that kitchen/living room combo room is about the same as theirs. -

It looks almost exactly like Joy's and Austin's house. I wonder how much he was involved. -
Josiah and Lauren: He Has To Marry Somebody

They're not a couple yet, but if it happens, we'll keep this in mind. I could see Lauren C with someone else, but it would be nice if she didn't have to get married and could do something else. As for the twins, I can never remember which one is Sinner/Saint, Jed/Jer, or match to the name to the face. -
Today is JB's birthday. I remember this, because it's someone's I know personally who is like JB.

I couldn't tell who was going to pick. I wonder if he picked that woman because she seemed to most likely to accept his proposal. So the doctor is heart surgeon? That's a really stressful job. No wonder he wants an instacommitment on television. I wouldn't jump through so many hoops for a person I've never even looked at. Oh, you think they're good looking? Well that's totally subjective. And the generic description gives me very little else to go on. I agree it seems fake. The applause was just not stop cheering, which makes it seem surreal at best and totally fake at worst. Clearly the idea is to have a totally season of the Bachelor/ette at once in front of an audience. I hope they get in one LGBTQ couple before this show is off the air.

There were two navy blue dresses (Anna and Joy) and one mint green (Jill). -

The engagement will coincide with the new season of Counting On hitting the airwaves. Wedding seems likely to be the first week in November. -

Those dresses are from a salon (Miss Renee?) and more expensive (among other things they're floor length). Jessa bought hers cheaper on the internet. -

@PikaScrewChu thanks for the pictures. Jinger had more bridemaids and colors than that. Her dresses look like she was given a bigger budget than Jessa. Or she had more to spend if the Vuolos contributed to the wedding. -

My friends play the two shoe version. The bride holds one of her shoes and one of his shoes and the groom hold one of her shoes and one of his shoes. They sit back-to-back and are asked questions like "Who is the better singer?" They each hold up a shoe in the air. Holding the bride's shoe in the air means that that person (either bride or groom) thinks the bride sings better. Holding the groom's shoe in the air means that that person(either bride and groom) think he sings better. If they think they sing equally well, that person (either bride or groom) can hold up both shoes. Since they're back-to-back, they can't see what the other person says unless they look over their shoulder. It's a mild form of entertainment, especially seeing how the opinions line up or don't. -
People magazine has been doing mostly web articles about the Duggars. In the latest print issue, with Whitney Houston on the cover, there was a one page feature on Josiah's wedding. It took up the entire verso side of one page in People. It was mostly photos with a few quotes from the happy couple. They love children and look forward to starting a family together. Josiah says his family gave him advice to put Lauren first.

It is a matter of personal opinion where birth control is pro-life or not. I consider birth control to be extremely pro-life, under all circumstances. And it shouldn't be an issue where having another baby could kill the woman. I could see Jill clinging to her beliefs that she needs to keep reproducing to be Godly, but that doesn't mean she's pro-life. This is one of my biggest problems with the Duggars, the fundie-lifestyle, etc.

Josiah and Lauren: He Has To Marry Somebody

In the real world, I don't know anyone who met at a wedding. Possibly because a lot of my friends have lived in different areas of the country and have people coming in from all over. I think that's particularly less common among millennials, although I'm sure there are exceptions. (I also don't know an older people who met at a wedding). In the fundie world, trying to meet people at weddings does seem to be part of why they are willing to go. -
Derick looks like hobo, because?? His hair is long? He has a beard? His clothes at least are neat and clean. He looks clean if not clean-cut. yes. Jinger looks a little like Duchess Kate.

Henry looks like he's falling down to me and not "pitching a fit" (assuming that's the right photo).
