Joy and Austin: This One Time At Family Camp
Temperance replied to frenchtoast's topic in Counting On
I thought people were sure that Theresa Fedosky. I wasn't sure, but not familar enough with Theresa to know for sure. -
So what Jessa did seems to have been making sure they actually completed the work on the computer. One potential pitfall of homeschooling is having kids do internet/computer work, but then with no one holding them accountable (like in a school), the kids will off stop doing the school work in lieu of what seems more entertaining with them. Jessa's job was to see if the kid had taken test and telling them to take the test (do the work) if they hadn't done it.

I agree with the general gist of this, but a few quibbles. Ben has been shown homeschooling Jessa's siblings so men can also be teachers and help with the kids' education. Ben's sisters have been able to get jobs in the real world which makes me think Guinn did a decent job homeschooling them. Secondly Michelle herself had a high school diploma and went to school her whole childhood and was an educated mother herself. It's different from Jeremy' mother who has a college degree and a masters, but she is more educated than her daughters.

It's really about indoctrination. It's conference for people who follow IBLP, the organization formerly headed by Bill Gothard. Big Sandy has speakers and so it's a lot of listening to lectures. A lot of IBLP families live out in the country and don't necessarily know too many other families who also follow IBLP (especially now) and so they get to connect with others who share their beliefs. There is some matchmaking involved, but it's really a chance to connect with people and reaffirm your beliefs. If IBLP wasn't so creepy, (all the purity, isolation, etc.), it would be just another religious conference. JinJer is now with MacArthur's group and has moved away from IBLP. It doesn't make sense to go back to those beliefs, even if she would get to see her family and friends. There's so many speakers and lectures that they wouldn't have too much time to talk.

Since they were in Texas already for Big Sandy, it might be short trip to Laredo. I'm am expecting (pun intended) a big Duggar announcement on/for Mother's Day. Most likely from John David and Abbie and probably either Josiah and Lauren or Jill and Derick or maybe even both. I wasn't thinking a JinJer announcement, but anything is possible.

Anna posted a #ThrowbackThursday picture last Thursday and it was of her, Jill, and Joy pregnant at the same time. -

I'm not sure TLC will either. If the producers/executives at TLC have any brains, they won't let Joy appear on television attempting a VBAC homebirth. Not when it's clear she can't have any licensed personnel attending her. Not when it's not medically avisable. Not when the chance of something going wrong is so huge. I think there's too much liability. We've speculated that Jill and Derick ran into this mess and it may have been a contributing factor to them leaving TLC. (Yes TLC didn't announce Derick was off the show until after the Jazz, but we're not sure when they left officially and it's possible they left earlier. Then Derick was mad Jazz was still on TLC, but he wasn't.) -
I don't see any chicken. I only see potatoes, carrots, etc. It does look she took the picture before putting it into the oven.

The builder is a part of a big national company that builds home in many states across the South. The company tries to make home ownership affordable (a good idea imo). Part of this company's brand is to sell homes to people who have less money. I think the company must have some sort of plan in case the people are suddenly unable to make their payments. (People could either mislead the company about their finances or have some kind of sudden, unforseen problem---a layoff, an injury, etc-- that leaves them financially stranded). Of course it's likely once they build the house that it's the bank's problem if the people run out of money. (By the way, the national company just annnounced they're going to closed on Sundays, to honor God and so employees can spend more time with family.)

@emma675 I would not schedule another appointment at the salon. I would cancel any existing appointments at the salon. People cancel all the time; you don't need an excuse or explanation. I would try to cancel the appointments with the receptionist/generic staff over the phone and not in person. I would not ask to speak with the stylist. It gets more complicated if your hair stylist is someone you're friends when she's not working, but that doesn't seem to be true. I think just booking at another salon is fine. People move; they change; they move on. She's probably used to it.

How old was Israel when they went on the mission? Also has Jill or Derick said anything on their social media about the pregnancy rumors?

It's probably a phrase that is used commonly by some, but I've never heard it and more to the point, it's not something I've seen Jill R or Sarah Maxwell use. I've been reading both the Maxwells and Jill R for a few years. Both of them have asked for prayers many times and neither of them has used the word "covet" before the last few days. It's kind of funny, because they seem very different from each other and not like families who would follow one another. Maybe we will get a Nurie-Jesse courtship after all.

Thanks for your recommendations everyone! Thank you @louannems, Thank you @Ohiopirate02, Thank you @Jynnan tonnix, Thank you @BitterApple, Thank you @SunnyBeBe, Thank you @Scarlett45, and Thank you @Abstract. I will be finding some new moisturizing lotion soon. 😊 @DragonFaerie Sending good wishes and I hope things work out in your favor. @galaxychaser I also watched Leah's show and there is a primetimer forum for her show. I also learned about Scientology and it looks there will be a fourth season. If I had tons of money, I would buy property in Clearwater just to mess with them.

Sarah Maxwell is asking for your guesses about when Melanie's baby will be born. She is due May 18th and most of her kids have been born early (many of them premature). She also says that "We’d covet your prayers for both Melanie and Baby.". Apparently that language is trending with fundies right now. ("Covet your prayers" is phrase I'd never heard until Jill R and doesn't seem to be used much among nonfundies.)

Do you guys have any particular recommendations for facial moisturizer with SPF in it? People have brought it up with the Duggars, so I wondering about it.

Cathy had cancer when they met.

But it's put together with Anna's throwback Thursday. It shows a picture of Jill, Anna and Joy when Joy was first married and barely pregnant with Gideon, Jill was pregnant with Sam, and Anna was pregnant with Mason. We know Anna and Joy are pregnant again...
-
It's because of what Anna posted on #throwbackThursday. I posted about it in the media thread.

This episode was kind of boring in the middle. The right person won. The wrong person went home imo.
-
So Jessa is about 8 months pregnant. Kendra, Joy, and Anna are all due in the fall. Anna is showing a #throwbackThursday picture and hinting at more announcements to come. I'm expecting (pun intended) for some kind of Mothers' day story, maybe in People.

I'm surprised she frosted oatmeal cookies.

Derick and Jill seriously remind me of Steve and Teri Maxwell a lot of the time. Steve and Teri also have wireless earbuds so they can list to sermons and Christian books while they walk.

FJ follows a lot of fundies I don't follow. They had some interesting news for some fundies with whom I'm not familiar. Basically some people are engaged. What is interesting is that the women getting married are stay-at-home-daughters and older than most of the married Duggar women. One of them is 27 and the other is 39. It also seems that Sarah Reith, who had a broken courtship with Zach Bates, got married. She really changed after her appearance on 19K&C and has had a lot of freedom and independence for an unmarried daughter in those circles . She seemed to be enjoying being single and I hope she enjoys being married.

I agree with this, although the men also had a part in making this happen as well. 😉
