IA. We got two sides of Dean's high school life. One pre-Bad Boys, where it appeared taking care of Sammy was his goal in life and he was pretty isolated in that. Then DURING Bad Boys it appeared 'belonging' was a new concept for him and he fit in well. Then after that we have the more hard-boiled Dean who is hiding loneliness with bravado. I think in all but during his stint with Sonny, his life was too whack to go theater. We've had a couple of indications that Sam had longer stints in one location than Dean. That John started using Dean for hunting help while Sam was still in school. And Dean had already dropped out of high School for most of Sam's high school years, so there's a chance Sam got longer stints because John could leave them for bigger stretches. Plus Sam had a strong leaning to 'normal' that Dean gave up on. Combine that with Sam's love of academia and having suffient grades for a full-ride to Stanford. All this suggests, IMO, that Sam probably had a more normal experience compared to Dean. Thus drama class.

Supernatural Obsession: Quotes, Memorable Moments, etc
SueB replied to mstaken's topic in Supernatural
Fan Fiction was (for me) one long series of memorable moments so I'm going to stick with quotes that are "keepers" IMO: Dean: "I'm going to need 50 jello shots and a hose down to get this stink off me." I can see this working into my everyday lexicon. Dean: "...then Cas and Dean got stuck in Purgatory, Sam hit a dog..." That Sam hit a dog makes the highlights reel! Dean really didn't get over that did he? Personally I think it's another fandom shout-out because WE didn't get over it. Callopie: "There's robots and tentacles. In space. I can't even." Speaking for the fandom on many a plot. Maeve: "Okay, we're through the looking glass people." It's all in the delivery...she just pulls this off so well IMO. -
It appeared the Angels resurrected Adam completely in Point of No Return. He was a human with his own agency in that episode. Adam had to say "yes" to allow Micheal to use his body. So, unless Adam soul was somehow discarded uniquely by Micheal, he went into the pit with Luci.

Think of it as the upside of going downside. A twist on their eternal reward/punishment.What?! I was inspired by Balthazar.

I'll put it in other media too, but here's the link to iTunes location to 3 songs PLUS a free download to "I'll Just Wait Here Then". I don't think you can get the free download on iTunes, only at this WB link. http://www.watertower-music.com/releases_spotlight.php?search=WTM39619_super200 ETA: WARNING: The lyrics to "A Single Man Tear" may result in DEAN FEELS of a gross sobbing nature. You have been warned.

THIS. Reminds me of how Dean started to fit into the Hollywood Babylon set. I can only presume he's past the horrors of his childhood being sung to a catchy tune. Unfortunately I think Robbie Thompson has a good bead on the fandom and give him props for attempting to present a story that is both inclusive with a decent plot point.

Jensen just tweeted that the direct look into the camera (re:Destiel) wasn't scripted. So I think it was a nice shout out.

I think this solidifies that the person in the THEATER, who looked like Chuck, was God. Now was Chuck ALWAYS God or just in Swan Song? IDK. That's debatable, but I think "God" is still in the SPN universe. I am THRILLED we saw Chuck but it does bring up the question if he's coming back or not. My guess is no. He's happy to let the story play out. Also, I forgot to mention that I'm glad they mentioned ADAM! Yes Adam! Go get him boys.

Someone said something about "kicking it in the ass" I think...I wasn't sure it was a direct quote. Robbie Thompson mentioned the songs might be on iTunes tomorrow.

Adorbs. Favorite bits from initial watch: -"Then" being the starting script - CHUCK! CHUCK! I knew we had yet to see the other man so as soon as she got excited, I knew it was Chuck. - SAMULET. And Dean taking it anyway and putting it on the mirror. Is it me or did anyone else feel like that was SO F*CKING FANTASTIC. I needed that BM. Sorry.... those initials are stuck in my head now. - Cas just waiting...with a song. - The look of HORROR on their face as they realize what they stepped into. - Sam's inner geek causing him to play with the tech board. Hee. The actress who played the writer/director/actor was outstanding. She nearly stole the show. Finally, although I imagine there will be more gems in a re-watch, what struck me (once again), was how the boys (J2) took the material and made it spectacular. The Carry On Song was lovely. The look on their faces..... made it a HUGE moment for me.

We do have a spec without spoiler thread...your call if it's close enough.

Actually I never heard of fan-fic until...IDK, maybe Smallville? And it's something I don't have a lot of time for (my current reading list of books is about 3 feet tall), so the few I've sampled were eye-opening. Some really good, some really awful and some set in completely definite worlds. And I only sampled those due to recommendations from on-line communities. If he hasn't read any, Jensen may know it exists but doesn't have any feel for it. Which, BTW, many of our audience will not necessarily be in touch with too. As that douchey-producer guy from Hollywood Babylon requested, I hope they have a one-sentence explainer of what Fan Fiction is (in the context of this episode). I fumbled the ball on that one. Sorry.

There's going to be TONS of media for tonight, all with little bits of spoilers. I went ahead and posted this link because it kind of puts to bed a rumor I heard http://www.eonline.com/news/596672/why-didn-t-jensen-ackles-and-jared-padalecki-have-a-positive-reaction-to-supernatural-s-200th-episode Specifically that Jensen was so concerned he called a meeting with the writers. Since that's sort of unprecedented, I sort of thought there was a problem and perhaps Jensens' happy reaction in other press about the 200th was "party line". But nicely, IMO, he admits to what drove him and he even apologizes for to Jeremy for calling a meeting! Not that I think he shouldn't be able to call a meeting if he's concerned. Of course he should. Just that if he's so open about calling a meeting and saying it was not needed after all... well, that makes me feel like he truly LIKES the episode. And the rationale he gave (about not really getting fan fiction concept) rings true. Now perhaps this is just social-media savvy on the part of TPTB, and they were really proactive at putting uncertainty to rest....IDK. But I'm falling for it if they are. Because it seems reasonable why he reacted in the first place and why it's not a problem. I DO think they are nervous, but the clips have prepped me sufficiently (well done Suzanne Gomez, expectations are aligned). I think I'll be okay with it. Those people who have no sense of fan fiction and no prep for the episode? No idea.

He burned one book. And really, I don't think that erased it from history. I understand many interpreted it that way but I don't think it had a global effect. I think it was a symbolic gesture on his part -- that his story matters more (in his head). That's not working out for him these days. I think they are treating it that way too. From EP 9.11-9.23 it was either a central plot point in the episode or had a direct presence except for ONE episode. I think in Bloodlines they completely ignored it's existence. But even when it was back-burner you could still see the effect in most episodes. Dean having faster reflexes, Dean not sleeping, Dean being more on edge, etc... Which brings me to the full Sneak Peek. Dean is up way before Sam. He's had time to (it appears) detail the car and find them a case. How much is he sleeping? Is he getting a little of that 'low-dose' steroid effect again? I fully expect 'the other shoe' to drop by mid-season finale and a MoC driven story second half of S10.

It really is lightening in a bottle and you can't recreate it. I was watching Sleepy Hollow and noticed that they created an intense bond between their two main characters in fairly short order. I have no doubt they knew this was essential. They used a different gimmick (Sleepy Hollow spoilers: ) Add on top of this, the two leads are very good and have excellent chemistry. I think the show will be successful, although it's got a bit of outlandishness (in a National Treasure sort of vibe), primarily BECAUSE of the lead characters. So... finding two leads AGAIN would be tough. Going "Incredible Hulk:Werewolf Edition" with Kate might be an option but I don't think it'll play all that well with their core fan-base. It's so hard to judge WHO the fans are these days with Neilsen becoming more irrelevant as Netflix, Hulu (CW has their own version), Amazon and iTunes take off.

Variety has an exclusive clip of a song. Sam and Dean's faces are NOT OKAY during this song. WARNING: FEELS ....now don't say your weren't WARNED...cause...FEELS. http://variety.com/2014/tv/news/supernatural-200th-episode-musical-fan-fiction-preview-1201352667/

Article on the 200th as well as the full Sneak Peek ... which is different than the one above http://www.screenfad.com/supernatural/supernatural-interview-200th-episode-jared-padalecki-jensen-ackles-27719#sthash.Aa2ZCU83.dpbs ...And Jensen was right to guess that his look when entering the auditorium is remarkable. In fact BOTH have a look of... horror... I think. It's funny and sad at the same time.
