I go back to what Cain said about Dean being 'worthy'. Just this past episode Dean seemed to feel like the Mark wasn't pushing him. Could he have lied? Yeah, but I don't see much of an upside. In fact his admission lets Sam know it's had some effect. Now it's possible that Dean didn't really sort out the effect until it was 'absent'. That's not uncommon. And his revelation is almost as much of a surprise as it was for Sam. The relevance is that if Cain found Dean 'worthy', then maybe he felt Dean would be able to ultimately control the effect of the Mark. Cain did not strike me as evil. I think he wants to die and this is his shot (at Dean's hand). But I think he's waiting to see if Dean is controlling the Mark or if the Mark is controlling Dean. It's possible that Cain won't let himself be killed by Dean until he's certain it's in the right hands. I think the chances are negative infinity that Dean willingly transfers the curse to Sam or frankly anyone else. Dean would probably love to give it back to Cain. But I don't think Cain will take it back unless he feels he has too. I'm also not sure that this is a transfer that can be done without invoking free will. The recipient HAS to accept the Mark and likely the person who has it must give it up freely. This is a Mark from one of the former God squad. It's not a spell. Luci couldn't wear Sam without Sam's permission. I'd be surprised if the Mark played by different rules. Of course writers can make up any story, but other than the ancient lament that Sam gets Dean's plots, I see no support for this.

Well he mentioned the "throw me into the sun" option. Now Cas' wings aren't working, but maybe a volcano would do? IDK. Personally I think woodchipper is just as effective. And per Cas, Holy Oil burns up angels (at least temporarily). Seriously though, we've seen Angels resurrect those who were burned to ash (Adam). We've seen God resurrect Cas who was vaporized (twice) and exploded. So, in the SPN universe, God appears to be able to do whatever he pleases and the sun is not a barrier. Archangels, however, I think have limits. I'm imbuing the Mark made by Lucifer with at least some of the power of an Archangel in this line of reasoning. Now Raphael was the last Archangel, so when Godstiel vaporized him, I don't know for sure that we can say that an Archangel can/cannot bring a vaporized body back. Why this matters: well they could bring ash back to person (Adam) so...vaporized seems equivalent to ash (which also seems equivalent to the effects of a woodchipper and holy oil). But no one brought Raphael back. No one had the juice. So... given all this, I'm going to say that if he's thrown into the Sun - no coming back. If he's vaporized (woodchipper, burned up, potentially volcano), it's IFFY. Decapitation didn't stop Abaddon, so I'd say he'd recover from that. Same goes for cutting off his arm, it would re-attach. Just stabbed -- meh, rinse and repeat -- he'd recover. Since I want precisely NONE of these for Dean, I'm hoping they come up with a different solution.

Mommy Dearest had many delightful and painful moments. Delightful: Get out of my ass! Jefferson Starships. Eat Me! Painful: Lenore. Little Ryan. I felt bad for Cas (Baby in a trenchcoat - Dean, you ass). Frontierland was fun for the cosplay but it just didn't win me over like Time After Time (next season). French Mistake was high concept and the best part was the death of Kripke. But it wasn't my favorite episode of the year. +Weekend at Bobby's --Appointment in Samarra 15 - Weekend at Bobby's 07 - Appointment in Samarra In flagrante with the King of Hell All Dogs Go to Heaven Unforgiven Mannequin 3: The Reckoning Like a Virgin Family Matters And Then There Were None Let it Bleed Caged Heat Exile on Main St. You Can't Handle the Truth Two and a Half Men The Third Man My Heart Will Go On Clap Your Hands If You Believe Live Free or TwiHard The Man Who Knew Too Much The Man Who Would Be King French Mistake Mommy Dearest Frontierland

It was part of the 200th episode interviews (the fan watch party?) Sorry I don't have a link but I'm positive the term episodes was used and Felicia may have tweeted something about exhaustion after filming back to back episodes. Fuzzy memory. Update on the 10.13 -- Sam is NOT in a sling. Someone asked the person taking pictures, somehow I got on the "reply" chain and the answer is he was holding a cell phone but not in a sling. Tonight they crash a car into a telephone poll and the fan was going back out to take more pictures.

I am so SUPREMELY confident that they will not give the Mark to Sam that I'm offering Diet Coke bets (or equivalent soft drink) to anyone who wants to take me up on this. Seriously, I'll pay shipping and handling. In other news: https://twitter.com/DearHeartxoxo/status/540312649897345025 A behind the scene pic from 10.13 filming. Speculation by one poster that Sam is in the sling. Which implies flashback. I'd be on-board for that. See if you think it's a sling.... And of course we have CAIN RETURNS in 10.14. I'm ridiculously excited about that. So, let's review the bidding: 10.9 The Things We Left Behind: Castiel & Claire, Dean is apparently determined not to go darkside again. pics: http://www.spoilertv.com/2014/12/supernatural-episode-1009-things-we_38.html 10.10 There's No Place Like Home - first of two episodes with Charlie, she comes back with Oz (a changed woman) and brings something bad with her 10.11 No title yet - besides knowing Charlie is in it..I got nothing 10.12 About A Boy... 10.13 No title yet: we've got this pic and that's it 10.14 No title yet - Cain is back! Reading various interviews and paying attention to timelines (like when Guy Norman Bee was directing 10.09), I feel fairly confident in saying that 1-9 were done independent of fan reaction. The ONLY "spin" I heard was multiple assurances that the Mark of Cain story was not over. I think that's fairly evident in the stories we've seen thus far but many have reacted negatively to "The Year of the Deamon" being more like 'The Three Weeks of the Deanmon'. Which is 100% on the CW promo department (along with the atrocious mislead for THIS 'Girls, Girls, Girls' episode) vice the TPTB.

I really liked how they handled this too! First they naturally try to keep the uninformed, uniformed. I think that's legit because in-story, over-awareness of monsterdom would probably result in some level of hysteria. False accusations, repeats of "99 problems", etc.. come to mind. But Donna is not Joe-citizen. She's in law enforcement. And this is her second run-in. As Jodi herself said, "this wackadoo stuff keeps coming, it's best to be prepared". Which is why Jodi offering to educate her is perfect. Jodi isn't going to become a hunter and neither is Donna. But Jodi is informing someone who was unintentionally exposed with real answers and practical solutions. #1 should be what Jodi did: when you have a hint it's wackadoo -- notify Sam & Dean for backup. #2 is understand the basics: what kills what, what to look for. So I love that Jodi cleared the way for Donna to be indoctrinated. And Donna, EVER THE CHAMP, handles it well with "Heck. Just Heck." Imagine what she would say regarding Angels & Demons. Someone PLEASE, put a script together with Cas and Donna. I could watch that shit for hours.

A+ Star Trek reference and I'm slightly jealous of your job. From the review: We HAD that moment! (sort of). The Sheriffs were feelsy over dick husband and dick teenage daughter and slumped off to their rooms while the strains of "The Weight" started to play. It was an excellent musical transition and obsessed SPN fans were thinking of that time Jensen sang that song at a convention. So...quibbling... but I think it should get at least 1/2 a point for "The Weight".

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrUtvrdV4wk&feature=youtu.be EXTENDED promo. 1) Definitely a dream IMO. 2) F*cking awesome Since we know Claire is the A-plot, I do think this is yet another misleading promo. I expect Dean's dream early on. Claire plot brings in Cas. Cas/Dean conversation. Claire plot takes up most of the episode. C-plot is Crowley/Rowena. And final cliffhanger twist that screws up Dean with the Mark.

I vote Jammy and D2.

Yes, it was still sepia/grey toned - seemed part of that violent scene.

I need to vote so I'll show the corrected numbers first (the -- for Weekend at Bobby's was missing): 13 - Weekend at Bobby's 13 - Appointment in Samarra 05 - Frontierland 05 - French Mistake 04 - Mommy Dearest On the Man Who Would Be King - I actually love many elements of that episode but the first thing that comes to mind is those STARTING BLUE EYES of Cas against a snowy backdrop with purple crocuses. That shot is just mesmerizing and so intimate at the same time. Now my voting: + Weekend at Bobby's -- French Mistake -- Mommy Dearest 14 - Weekend at Bobby's 13 - Appointment in Samarra 05 - Frontierland 03 - French Mistake 02 - Mommy Dearest In flagrante with the King of Hell All Dogs Go to Heaven Unforgiven Mannequin 3: The Reckoning Like a Virgin Family Matters And Then There Were None Let it Bleed Caged Heat Exile on Main St. You Can't Handle the Truth Two and a Half Men The Third Man My Heart Will Go On Clap Your Hands If You Believe Live Free or TwiHard The Man Who Knew Too Much The Man Who Would Be King

I really liked this episode. I was motivated to rewatch it right away -- always a good sign. Dean/Donna - I ship it like FedEx. I don't care if it's a freaking cliche. There IS chemistry. And she told him 'Stuff You'. I bet our British friends will get a kick out of that. Dean using puppy eyes. So blatantly. Dean, you have no shame. Please keep it up. Sam Sam Sam. How could you have failed to call Jodi and tell her you rescued Dean??? It's been months. Listen young man, you need a good spanking. I vote Jodi. (please feel free to interpret that any way you wish). I'm glad they dropped the golf-cart scene. It would have been too campy and I like Donna/Jodi too much to do over the top campy. I did enjoy Donna being the happy greeter that everyone knew and loved. Doug needed to get eaten. I know it would have been a distraction, but he's got to go. Or Donna needs to save his ass some day (in a future episode) and tell his to buzz off. I love The Weight and I also loved that they used the Family theme while Jodi was essentially welcoming Donna to the family and Dean was confessing to Sam. And YES, he's been lying. Thank you Sam for having great patience and not ripping him a cornucopia of new orifices for hiding the sensation of being driven by the Mark during kills. Of course I'm worried he grabbed his arm. We're supposed to be worried. Well done show. Finally, I like the new version of Vampire Teeth. It's still more teeth than most shows but it's less artificial looking. Good job SFx guys.

That's a really good guess. It's got the black & white 'something's not right' thing going for it. But even if it's a dream, it's disturbing as hell that this is what he dreams about. NGL, I fully intend to micro-analyze the hell out of that preview as soon as I get my hands on a version I can pull up in QuickTime. It was chock-full of freaky. And I'm so glad Dean is talking to Cas. Can we just keep Cas? Please?

Donna and Jodi. I'd watch the shit out of that. I know it is completely against everything the CW wants: two women, slightly older. Not models. Not a chance. But I'm so much more invested in these two than I ever was in the guys from Bloodlines.

I agree. I also think your right about the fancy lady.

Technically we have never seen Dean pay for intercourse personally. I don't think its a judgement AGAINST someone who is a sex worker, I think he sees it differently than dancers or porn. And Cas had one night and Dean was on a mission. Having said this, it's possible Dean has paid for sex in the past. Maybe it wasn't what he was looking for. Or maybe, as you said, he just felt stupid for being duped and wanted out. As soon as she said 'soul', however, I think his whole perspective shifted. I also thought the actress playing Shaylene did a good job. In the restaurant she seemed happy. In the hotel she seemed at first like she was rushing a bit, then like she was trying to recover the situation, and finally downright brittle.

What can I say? I've read all the discussion and while each episode remaining has some remarkable points, only 'Weekend At Bobby's" is as close to flawless as a Supernatural episode gets. Yes, it's not about Sam and Dean, but the story is freaking fantastic IMO. Still, I'm not hard over. I really liked Live Free or TwiHard because of the construct of "going there" with Dean a vampire. But Random Me did an excellent eulogy. I'll save mine for the one I'm knocking off: The Man Who Knew Too Much is an excellent episode but it feels like part 2 of 5 when it comes to 'finales". Probably more than any other season transition, the "finale" starts with the prior episode and doesn't really finish until about 7.03. But let me praise it for some of the fantastic elements it provided. First is the Jason Borne like opening. Sam is a perfect Jason Borne type. He's freaking HUGE, deadly, and smart. I like that they used that model. I also very much loved the use of the bar-tender. I did not see her death coming. I'm so very proud of Sam taking back his hell-damaged self because he wouldn't leave his brother alone out there. I also like how completely OUTCLASSED Bobby and Dean are. They've gone in with no hope before, but throwing an angel blade at Raphael was about as desperate of a play as they've ever made. An Sam stabbing Cas breaks my heart. Finally Cas is BEYOND CREEPY here. It's a haunting final scene with an amazing cliffhanger. -- The Man Who Knew Too Much -- The Man Who Would Be King -- Mommy Dearest 16 - Weekend at Bobby's 14 - Appointment in Samarra 10 - Frontierland 09 - French Mistake 06 - Mommy Dearest 03 - The Man Who Would Be King In flagrante with the King of Hell All Dogs Go to Heaven Unforgiven Mannequin 3: The Reckoning Like a Virgin Family Matters And Then There Were None Let it Bleed Caged Heat Exile on Main St. You Can't Handle the Truth Two and a Half Men The Third Man My Heart Will Go On Clap Your Hands If You Believe Live Free or TwiHard The Man Who Knew Too Much

ITA that there is something different with Dean's attitude here. There's a resignation for his "end state" that is even more depressing than when he told Sam in S8 he's 'just a grunt' and going to die bloody. I think by the end of S6 he abandoned "normal life" forever. Thinking on this, I think Dean still had some level of hope in Season 8. I personally think Dean was hoping to go out in a way that gave him closure (which shutting the Gates of Hell would be a fitting sacrifice). And I think he was not sure where he'd end up. He knew it wasn't Purgatory (been there, done that, wrong species). I think he was hoping for Heaven (even if it was Memorex). And now? Now I think Dean is 100% sure he's going to end up not only in Hell but a demon. I think he's resigned himself to doing as much good as he can until he dies because after that, there's no good there. He felt he was going to Hell after Kevin. Then with the Mark, he learned 'Death=demon". What I'm not sure of is if he thinks that if he can get rid of the Mark, will he have a shot at Heaven? I'm not sure. I kinda think he figures there's nothing he can do to completely wipe the slate clean. No big act, no ultimate redemption. But I do think he's motivated to clean up as many messes as he can and to put as many 1's in the Win column until he goes out. In short, I'm sensing he's resigned to ending up in Hell and just hoping to do good for as long as he can until his bill comes due.

Sorry RandomMe! Looks like it's fixed (thanks 7kstar). I was caught in a fifth dimensional gravity based time paradox. I may or may not have seen Interstellar this weekend.

Supernatural Bitterness & Unpopular Opinions: You All Suck
SueB replied to mstaken's topic in Supernatural
I'm onboard with Fantasy staffing. We should make it a thing. I know I hate when I get pulled out of a show (for whatever reason).
