I was a bit surprised that Remy assigned the two black agents to be in the car together knowing that they were in a racist county. I know it was done for dramatic purposes but didn't ring true for me. Otherwise - compelling episode. I prefer the episodes which are not akin to Criminal Minds.

Christmas episode of Chelsea Detective dropped on Monday. I still like the show but it suffered greatly from the loss of Sonita Henry, who played the DS and partner to the star.

Watched Parts 1 and 2 of newest season of Dalgleish. I thought it was good but definitely a different style - more cerebral, less action - than many of the shows I have been watching lately. Looking forward to Season 9 of Shetland but waiting until the entire season has dropped before beginning it.

I know it has its own section but watched Black Doves over the weekend and loved it. Tons of HITG British actors throughout. It is a spy/mystery/thriller with a lot of comedic bits. Highly recommended - especially since Sarah Lancashire has a major role.

I liked this episode a lot. Very reminiscent of current events. No mention of Ella so I guess that storyline is over?

THIS was my big question and laugh. Helen literally kept leaving the house - at all hours of the night - just up and left.

I absolutely loved this entire series. I watched specifically because of Sarah Lancashire, who I have adored in many other shows. I loved the whole thing - especially Williams, her partner, and Kai-Ming...Michael/Sam....Helen fighting with Wallace's assistant at the jewelry store....and everything Reed. So looking forward to the next season.

I did not mind Jubal being absent as it gave Elise more time to shine. I do not see the need for both Jubal and Isobel. Creepy episode. I was sure it was the Dr.'s son. So the whole stalker subplot (which was terrifying) was just a means to write Ella off of the show?

I thought this was a very good episode. I hope we are finished with Hana's boyfriend.

McDonald and Dodds is one of my favorites. Impatiently waiting for more.

Hope Street S4 drops today on Britbox. A combination detective/police show and a soap opera. Watched all 4 episodes of Marlow Mystery Club on Masterpiece last night. Fun, quick, cozy mystery based on a book. Already renewed for S2.

Best episode yet. Loved the desk at the end. Really nice how Ava finally got to see how her mother's big brain came in very handy.

Seeing Eliza back in her old office - but with a new sign over the door - seems like a reset of the show. Presumably she will now have Clarence to provide assistance and she has worked out a semi-arrangement with Mr. Potts. I enjoyed the "will they/won't they" with William but I am looking forward to seeing Eliza moving forward for now without him. My guess is that TPTB will have William make a guest appearance in the final episode of the series because it does seem as if they are "destined" to be together.

I agree with all of the above about the two younger actors. Particularly liked seeing Mrs. Parker again. (I'm watching Ellis now - which stars the actor who played adult Rupert in Season 1. I was hoping for a cameo from him here.)

Finally catching up on Season 4. I really liked seeing Mr. Potts' grudging acceptance of Eliza's abilities (with more than a push from Ivy). Looking forward to seeing how the Clarence/Eliza relationship grows.

Loved the poker game. I noticed that Captain Wagner is now calling Elsbeth by her first name instead of always referring to her as Miss Tascioni. It is a great idea to keep bringing back the various detectives. Also great idea to keep Laura Benanti as a recurring guest.

Astrid Season 4 on PBS in early January 2025. Finally some good news.

I posted my impressions of Season 2 in the last episode thread but the main gist is that, of all of the British crime dramas that I watch, the character of Rachita Ray is the one who never smiles, is always sad and gives off an air of general depression. When she laughed with her mother in the final scene of this season, I was literally shocked. We had never seen her smile before. I like the cast and have liked Nagra in other roles. This protagonist is just hard to root for because she is so dour and is endlessly sad. I admire her for pushing through all of the hurdles but it is hard to watch.

I just finished Season 2 - most of which I watched in one night. I watch a ton of British crime dramas and I have never seen a protagonist who is as stone-faced and desperately sad as Rachita Ray. She gives off such an air of sadness that, when she laughed in the final scene with her mother, I was literally shocked. Beyond that scene, I do not recall one smile or moment of happiness in the entire season. Not sure that I would watch another season even though I really like the cast.

I really do not like Remy. Definite foreshadowing of something bad with Hana's boyfriend. I recall that they dropped the storyline of the new FBI agent who Hana had befriended but I think the boyfriend will actually be bad news. Good for Sheryll for following her instincts. Of course, telling Jubal would have been the right way to go.

Yes, there is one episode still to come. Have not seen any news about a renewal yet. Terrific show.

I just came here to post the same thing. Watched both episodes last night and loved them! Sharon D Clarke is so formidable. I also like the relationship between her and Harper. Fun to see so many Irish actors who I recognize from Blue Lights and other shows.

New show on Acorn called Inspector Ellis starring Sharon D Clarke just dropped. About a DCI who is called into various police stations to solve difficult crimes. Has received good reviews.

I really enjoyed Elsbeth walking in the fashion show. I also liked Molly Crane as the exasperated detective who sees the value in Elsbeth's observations. Nice to see so many NYC theater actors on the show throughout the season. Looking forward to Season 2.
