Finally was able to watch first episode of Art Detectives. I liked it enough to keep watching.

Good catch re Moses Page! A Frankie Drake reunion with Rebecca Liddiard. I agree re Tippy. This entire storyline with Tippy lusting after Murdoch was uncomfortable to watch. -
Murdoch Mysteries - General Discussion
LisaM replied to The Crazed Spruce's topic in Murdoch Mysteries
Just watched the episode with Charlie, the dog. Have to admit that I start each episode seeing which cast members are included and which supplemental cast (Morality officer, sketch artist, Miss Cherry, Tippy) are appearing. It's almost become a game. There is a real difference in the overall quality of the episodes when George Crabtree appears. The actor and the character really bring something special to the show. Given that Julia is absent, I think that TPTB have done as good a job as possible at replacing her. Substituting Effie (attorney) instead of Julia (doctor) makes sense. Having Effie in the mix also keeps George alive even when he is absent. -
Watched the first episode of Death Valley on Britbox. Quirky, cozy mystery about a DS in Wales who seeks out a retired TV detective who she idolized for help solving her cases. I really wanted to like it but I didn't. Not sure I will make it to the second episode.

Cynthia was a wonderful host. I hope that she is invited back next year. Loved her dresses as well. Audra was beyond amazing. Being able to see her facial movements because of close-ups made the performance even more incredible. I have not seen any of the shows but....the musical numbers made me want to see Operation Mincemeat and Pirates of Penzance.

Hamilton = amazing.

Is it my TV or is something weird with the sound when introducing the presenters?

Loved the opening number. Cynthia's dresses are gorgeous.

Agreed! Not only Shetland - Annika actors too. Jamie Sives with a buzzcut!

The Brokenwood Mysteries - General Discussion

Nice seeing Trudy standing up so vehemently for Lena. Gina hugging Mike at the Orphan Christmas! The extended Oades family is not my favorite. It was nice seeing Dennis Buchanan again. Is TPTB going for an eventual Sims/Chalmers match? -
Episode 9 was the best of the series. So good that I had to watch the scene where Akram stabs/shoots Lyle twice. Compelling and well done. Seeing William get off of the helicopter was perfect. However, there were too many scenes of Merritt in the chamber. The show could have been condensed into 7 episodes if some of those had been cut out. (I am not big on "women in captivity" stories so perhaps I am biased.) I hope this gets renewed. I love the Basement Four and I'd like to see the Leith Park shooting get solved.

The first episode hooked me in even though I am not a fan of "woman held captive" stories. It was nice seeing so many familiar faces (Kate Dickie, Jamie Sives, Mark Bonnar). Did not expect the twist at the end. The lead DCI reminds me of Dr. House and similar curmudgeons. Had issues accessing Episode 2 on Netflix which will hopefully resolve.

Agree about The One That Got Away. Nice twist at the end but not great overall. I thought the ending was left open for a second series but not sure it deserved one. It reminded me a bit of A Remarkable Way to Die - which I thought was better. Thanks for the reminder about Dept. Q. The write up looked good to me and I wanted to check it out.

I am watching The One That Got Away on Acorn. Set in small-town Wales, it stars Elen Rhys (Mallorca Files) and Richard Harrington (lots of British shows). Murder mystery where a new case echoes a serial killer from the past. I just finished Episode 2 of 6 - not great but not terrible either.

I liked the wrap-up scene in the restaurant with the tidbits about each agent's personal life. Still annoyed that the show was canceled. Even though some of the storylines could be too Criminal Minds for me, I still liked the cast (except Remy). Still miss Jess.

I did not love the most recent episode - the one where the teacher was killed during the school retreat. This is the second episode where they have had characters return who were originally in earlier episodes. I tend to forget the earlier plots quickly so it is hard for me to then place these characters. I'd prefer if they limit recurring characters to the usual ones - Frodo, Dr. Plummer, etc.... I also did not love the story line. -

Watched the first few episodes of Bletchley Circle San Francisco and liked it. Rachel Sterling is awesome; I have not seen her in anything else. Julie Graham has starred in many of my favorite shows. I have not seen either of the two American actresses before or since this show. -

I noticed that Gina was very toned down in her pursuit of Mike in this episode. Trying to recall the backstory for Lena, the bartender. She mentioned "Chad" and I seem to remember his name but do not recall their story. -
Thought they deliberately spotlighted Sheryll in a more leadership position than previously. Likely foreshadowing her replacing Remy should he retire. Budget cuts to the end: no Nina. I thought the fake ICE storyline was particularly relevant but agree with the above poster that there were too many plot holes.

Haven't watched GH in many years but loved seeing the actress who played Monica spotlighted in the credits because she just passed away. Have to believe that this was intentional. I was tired of the Raphael storyline but the actor did a great job.

I loved Ludwig.

I also think they toned down Frodo a bit in this season. They gave some of his ridiculousness to Dr. Plummer. I miss the Mayor/Pharmacist. Agree about Dennis Buchanan; the female attorney with the short blonde hair seems to be the attorney du jour. Love Trudy. -
I loved Jocelyn and her boyfriend buying hats for the entire crowd of people in order to confuse the FBI. Smart move.
-
I just saw this. What a dumb move. Terrific show with an excellent cast.

I think that this season of The Chelsea Detective was better than the prior one. I liked seeing the emphasis on Ashley and her family. I really miss the old sidekick, who added a lot to the show. Agree that the new sidekick was better in this season than in the past ones.
