  1. Was this the list? https://the-bibliofile.com/best-time-travel-books/ Some good ones on there!
  2. A top 5 book of mine. Just outstanding.
  3. When Lana first came out, and Noura was so overcome with emotion, it was odd, to me, that Lana was so unaffected. She even looked confused. So when Jeff asked, "You're visually impaired, right?," it clicked. Loosing a sense doesn't really make your other senses stronger. Rather, it takes you longer to get the information you need. My reactions are often delayed, and I'm sure I look confused many times.
  4. It took me well over five years* to watch seasons 1-31. Amazon Prime, last I checked, has 1-28; Hulu has 1-34. I don't know if anyone has 35-38, and I don't know if I want to watch any of them again. Them = any Survivor season, not just 35-38. Season 31, Second Chances, was great (like @Lamb18 said). I love the winner, the game play, and the story lines. It came on the heels of 30, which as @Nashville writes, was awful. I'll confess to being oddly fascinated with Rodney--how did this guy keep that alliance together--but the season is a miss. My rewatch got to Season 32, while this current one (39) was diving off its cliff. I lost all heart for watching 32 when I saw the two ugly Brawn players and the one ugly Brains guy. Hard Pass. I don't want to re-watch 33 (MvGx)--not with that whiner winner--and 34 (Game Changers), of course, has its own nasty controversy, which I'm not ready to re-visit, even if TPTB handled it a lot more gracefully. Since that's the end of what Hulu offers, my choice is to either start again with 1 (gawd, so slow), skip around, or try other television shows. And I can't believe I'm even saying that. I don't watch much television**--remember, it took me over five years to get through 31 season of my favorite show. I'm so turned off by this season (39, for those reading in the far future), that I honestly don't know what I want to do next. But for your question, @Lady Calypso, in particular, I like 7 (Pearl Islands), 10 (Palau), 16 (FvF), and 25 (Penner's speech to Lisa is still my favorite moment ever). Underrated seasons, like @LadyChatts said, include 11 (underrated winner!) and 15. (If you watch 10 and then 11, you'll see the sheer power of editing, in regard to how one player is portrayed.) Watch 10, 22 (Redemption Island), and 24 (One World), if you want masterclasses in domination; the latter two aren't particular great seasons, though***. * I watch an episode while on the treadmill. I'm not a runner... ** I'm deaf, so I can't put the TV on in the background, I have to pay attention throughout. Watching while on the treadmill is easy enough. *** Oh hell, I just convinced myself. Gonna go back and start again with 7! Or maybe 2! 😁
  5. Thank you. For others, here's how to ignore users: Hover over the member's avatar and select 'ignore user', then follow the on-screen directions. OR Click on your name in the top right-hand corner, then selected Ignored Users from the dropdown menu.
  6. The same thing happened in Series 5 (Richard won Star Baker five times). I get that they don't look at past weeks, but then why stretch the season for 10? Just make the Star Baker from episode one the winner. If Steph had won Star Baker in episodes 1-4, and then been eliminated in episode 5, the outcry would have been massive. I really dislike this aspect of the judging. You're not "England's Best Baker" if you didn't make the best stuff all season long. I still teared up when David won. I love the winner reveal, no matter who it is. (Except maybe Rahul. So joyless to watch him.)
  7. Well, shit. I just got book three. I'll have to ignore that asshole.
  8. I worry that he'll lose a ton of weight or get sick and then be ill-prepared for S40.
  9. It's great! There's a couch, so Ross will definitely pivot. Joey has his pizza (but not a meatball sub). My youngest is recreating scenes, line-by-line, and is really good at it.
  10. I enjoyed this one: https://philkeoghan.com/buckit-with-rob-and-brennan/. A few new (and gross!) tidbits I hadn't heard. We just finished a rewatch, and my heart broke anew at Drew's anguish at the finish line in China.
  11. I believe so. I recall limiting myself to one episode a night out last year.
  12. I haven't seen anyone list Evvie Drake Starts Over by Linda Holmes (Miss Ali). It was a very quick read--great dialogue. I'm a fan of books where everything wraps up in everyone's favor, and this one fit the ticket. I also just finished Buttermilk Graffiti, by Edward Lee, which was amazing. It includes recipes, developed from his travels around the US, and at least a good quarter of them appeal to me, which is a great ratio for me. And Working by Robert Caro was a delight. Maybe I should pick up The Power Broker again--I just wish it was on the Kindle.
  13. I think that's right (after a wee bit of research): GBBS airs one week, on Netflix, after the GBBO finale on Channel 4 in the UK. So that's sometime in November, if I'm reading it right.
  14. Didn't Netflix air series 9 at the same time last year?
  15. That's cute: https://shop.lego.com/en-US/product/central-perk-21319
  16. I'm skeptical, too. It's true that returning players have looser lips. But with EOE (and a chance to get back into the game), everyone gets a family visit, food on EOE, increased prize money--it seems that TPTB are including everything under the sun to discourage spoilers and make them harder to verify. A Kim win, though: wouldn't that be awesome.
  17. I read The City of Brass, The Bear and the Nightingale, and Spinning Silver back-to-back-to-back. All wonderful. You might like Spinning Silver, too: it's a standalone book. I do intend to read books #2 for both Brass and Bear.
  18. While Ciera went the total opposite direction. 5th, 10th, and 20th. I love that: it's almost poetic.
  19. If every episode isn't at least 90 minutes, there's just no way it works.
  20. There are so many directions the story can go because the entire world is well-realized and everything has a backstory that we can delve into. I don't think it's a money grab at all. Who says the books must remain a trilogy? It becomes a money grab when Collins (or a ghost writer) starts phoning it in with the 42nd book.
  21. Oh yes; one of my top five books of all time. Just outstanding.
  22. Oh, that's great! I see V.E. Schwab is closest to Naomi Novik on this list, and I do, indeed, love her work too! But I've read them all. So I'll check out Katherine Arden--by pure coincidence, I started The Bear and the Nightingale last night. I did enjoy The Calculating Stars by Kowal, and so I'll check out Ghost Talkers too!
  23. Triple. Started with the coins. Switched to the poem (1) and tried it once (or so it appeared). Switched back to the coins (2). C&C Zen Factory showed up during this second coin attempt and bailed fast, while Chris and Bert kept slogging. Finally switched (3) back to the poem and completed the detour. From TARfies: Yet! 😆
