  1. In the book, there is a scene where Tara & Darcy do offer makeup - but I can't remember if it's before or after the boys go down to breakfast. My gut says after as I'm remembering one of them saying' Why didn't you just come to us'
  2. What's the chance we get one more totally random musical number? I feel it wouldn't be a Riverdale finale without a random musical number that doesn't need to exist and really doesn't serve the plot. Maybe a full cast version of Sugar Sugar as they end their final day at school? Becuase why not?
  3. You know what bugged me all day about last night's episode? That for all her angel powers, Tabitha made the gang sit in a theatre and watch their memories on a freakin' small television set, instead of on the big screen. Yeah yeah, I know golden age of television and all that. But surely if she can collapse a multiverse into one universe and bring along a colour tv, she can project the tv signal onto the big screen.
  4. I'm assuming this is the book the series is based on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZhZYt5sDRs and if that is the case. my anticipation of this series has diminished a lot. Definitely not what I thought the alternate history was going to be.
  5. Kevin's dad hooked up with Archie's uncle!!! What the...? Just when I thought the show couldn't surprise me anymore, I was proven wrong. As Veronica said a few weeks back 'Well that was a twist no one saw coming' But in true Riverdale fashion, the reveal was swept under the carpet never to be addressed again. From a timetravel point of view, it makes absolutely no sense what Tabitha has done, and it really does set up the finale to be unsatisfying cause basically the past 6 years never existed. And like old Rose said in Titanic '(they) only exist now in my memory' I'm sure they will do everything in their power to make the final episode weepy, but it will feel hollow since it's all happening with the 1955 characters instead of 2023 characters. I wonder how Dilton felt about learning he died? I would have loved to be there for that conversation. with Archie. 'So, Clay wasn't in the TV show, Julian you were a doll and Dilton you died.' And I guess I should be happy that they included a brief shot of Moose in the TV montage, it was the bare minimum I expected from the show.
  6. I still have 45 minutes before I can get access to the episode, but your comment reminded me of a thought I've been having since the Actor's Stirke started. I will say first, I 100% support the actors (and writers) striking but I really feel for the actors on Riverdale not being able to celebrate with the fans on social media etc about the end of a 7-season long show. You would usually see all these 'Gonna miss these guys, thanks for watching etc' posts but not being able to post means this show ends on a bigger whimper than it was already ending on. And that really goes for any actors whose show is ending during the strike or those actors who have landed their first role etc but are unable to celebrate/inform fans.

    Disney Films

I was about to respond with the origin of Let It Go, but Purple Tentacle beat me to it. The film makers after hearing Let It Go, basically said a villain can't have the best song so changed the story. But if you listen to the lyrics through the lens of Elsa being a villain, the lyrics work much better than the 'I Want...' song it's presented as in the movie. Sang angrier and more sinister, than hopeful and happy and it's a classic Disney villain song. I think they still could have kept Elsa the villain of the movie and still give her the redemptive arc by saving Anna and Hans no longer needs to be a WTF villain. He can still try to save Anna with a genuine kiss, but it doesn't work where BOTH learn that perhaps they did rush getting engaged and there is nothing wrong with just being friends, allowing Anna to still be with Kristoff. And instead of Olaf helping Anna escape the room, Hans encourages Anna to save her sister and the movie's climax remains the same. It will never happen, because Disney has decided he needs to be the punching bag, but in Frozen 3 I would really love for them to redeem the character of Hans.
  8. It's called My Lady Jane. An alternate history of what may have been if she was killed. Based on a book series apparently. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Lady_Jane
  9. I know that article said it was still filming in June 2023, but I swear I read somewhere that filming had wrapped before the strike started as I remembered breathing a sigh of relief as it meant there was a good chance it would air this year. But in case that doesn't happen I guess I have the Lady Grey drama over at Amazon to tide me over - assuming it's still being released in 2023. I hope this limited series is a success, to encourage more productions based around the Stuart period of monarchs.
  10. Which is going to be so odd for so many of the characters. You would have Toni and Fangs remembering they were married with a child. What does that mean for Toni/Cheryl and Fangs/Midge in the 1950s? Speaking of Midge, will she have the memory of being killed? Kevin will suddenly remember about his relationship with Moose. Betty will remember her alive Dad is a dead serial killer and Polly died. Cheryl will remember her dead brother, and everyone will be looking at Julian like 'Who are you? Are you the doll?' while Julian and Clay have an existential crisis about if they are real as they don't share any memories with the gang beyond the 1950s. Archie will remember his affair with Miss Grundy. I'm going to guess the writers wanted to give Betty, Rose's ending from Titanic without worrying about the actual result would be of that decision. I just hope that even if they don't stick the ending for a series finale, they at least stick the ending for a season finale. Because this is my 2nd favourite season after the debut season mainly because it doesn't connect to anything else and technically can be watched as a self-contained series, if the last episode sticks its ending.
  11. He is the 'spare' and the movie fixed the biggest issue I had with the book and this point (which actually prevented me from thinking the book was incredible). The book presents that Henry being gay as a massive massive issue for the line of succession (and pretty much treats him like the heir), when in reality it would not be that much of a big deal for a keeping the line alive. In the book, there is the current monarch (I believe the movie switched it from Queen to King), then Henry's mum, then Henry's brother Phillip (memory says by the end of the book, Phillip's wife is pregnant) then Henry. So really, Henry being gay wouldn't be an issue as him inheriting the throne is so low anyway that there would be no pressure for him to produce an 'heir of the body'. From a real-world perspective, it would be like Prince Harry coming out as gay when the Queen was alive. Sure, there would be 'shock and scandal' but he isn't in direct line of the throne anymore. I'd like to think that the British actors, especially Stephen Fry, would have pointed out how ridiculous it would be for Henry to have a crisis over inheriting the throne when there is little chance AND if he did, he wouldn't need to produce an heir cause Beatrice and any children she had would technically be the spare line, so the throne would be safe.
  12. I really liked how they presented that early phone conversation. I thought it was a creative way of staging it.
  13. I quite enjoyed it and thought it was a good adaptation. My only complaint was the terrible green screen that occurred throughout the movie. Every time it happened, it reminded me that this movie was never meant for a cinema release and is just a fancy TV movie. I did appreciate that they dropped the drama that occurred in the book that highlighted that the author had little understanding of how the British throne is inherited. Despite the green screen, I know I will be rewatching it again. I had no idea Greg Berlanti was involved.
  14. So, it does seem that the writers are capable of remembering what they have previously written. Lots of little plot points wrapped up and explained in this episode I'm assuming because someone on the writing team pointed out to the rest of the team, they only have 3 episodes left. I did not have Ma and Pa Blossom being Russian spies on my bingo card OR Ethel being half-Cooper. Glad they explained The Milkman storyline and it actually all made sense (for a Riverdale plot). Glad Frank got shown the door...finally. And welcome back bunker, nice to see you again. Maybe Moose is hiding out down there? Not sure that the episode really needed to be in black and white. But as I said last week, this season just seems to exist so the writers can finally have their rejected pitch stories be approved. And what pray tell did the preview show for next week? That the writers finally remembered about the cliffhanger from last season. I still scratch my head over the fact the writers knew in advance it was the final season and still chose the path they did to bring closure. Definitely going to be a rushed ending I say.
  15. The main thing I've seen him in is Handsome Devil and while his acting wasn't Oscar worthy, he can actually act.
  16. Season 2 was good but for me it was a step below the first season. Not sure why exactly but I found myself pausing a number of episodes which didn't happen with the first season. I found myself rolling my eyes a lot with actions and statements made by the characters. I didn't hate the season, because I still finished the season in 3 days, (Only because it dropped on a Thursday instead of a Friday and work prevented a late-night binge) but it definitely wasn't as engaging as the first season. Personally, I found the little side plot involving Mr. Ajayi and Mr. Farouk my favourite story for the season and I hope we get to continue to follow their relationship in Season 3. And if there is anyone from the UK here, can you explain the difference between Form and Year in regard to education? Because Charlie and Nick kept saying they were in the same form but only Nick was sitting his GSCE (blows my mind they have 2 weeks of study time during school time, here in Australia we are like fend for yourself kids) which implies different grade level doesn't it?
  17. Tori is amazing. David is not.
  18. Me too. And honestly, as someone who stepped out of the closest late in his life, I really appreciated that little conversation between the two of them at the vending machine. Especially when I watch a show like Heartstopper or Love, Victor, I often end up wondering 'What if...' and start thinking about all that teenage stuff I missed out on.
  19. OK this episode makes me want to return to Paris and revisit the Louvre. Or at least watch The Da Vinci Code again haha. I'm still eyerolling at the amount of times Nick demonstrates some form of PDA towards Charlie where anyone could catch them. This time it was holding Charlie's hand as their ran up the stairs of The Eiffel Tower. As a teacher who has taken many overnight excursions in my career, I am relating to both teachers during this trip to Paris. Mr Ajayi, is me at the start of the trip while Mr Farouk is me by the end of the trip. Also, great to see that there does appears to be a female teacher on the trip (or at least a female chaperone). It was beginning to feel weird there wasn't a female supervisor - only because in Australia we are required to have at least one of both for overnight excursions involving boys & girls, and I've assumed the UK are similar.
  20. The show isn't exactly being subtle with the development of that storyline. As an Australian, it still blows my mind how blasé it is for schools in the UK to have a casual trip to France. I often forget how big and isolated my country is compared to other countries in the world.
  21. The Heartstopper fandom can have their Nick/Charlie obsession, I'm definitely more interested in the development of (spoiler tags for non-book readers) this season, although I feel like I'll be sitting at a table of one with that opinion.
  22. I know people should respect the boundaries of someone else's bedroom, but considering Nick wasn't ready to tell his brother he was bisexual, you would think he would have been smarter about hiding that fact. Like removing the photos of him and Charlie from the walls, warning Charlie that his brother had seen the text (and maybe suggesting Charlie use another name if he met the brother).
  23. For someone so concerned about coming out to people, Nick sure does like kissing Charlie in spaces where he is very likely to get caught. The amount of times I've shouted at the screen 'You idiot' for the relaxed approach to keeping his identity a secret is ridiculous.
  24. I was surprised to see Mr Farouk appear so early in the show. They've relocated him to the boys school for the show right?, Cause my memory says he was a Science teacher at the girls school in the book.
