  1. Actually, does paying them less help to avoid them needing to report it as income or something that could affect their income or other social services? I'd think there is a minimum that if you are receiving less than X amount, it doesn't count against them. Vs getting paid a normal wage like a job, they'd have to put that money back into paying for their retirement home/ medical expenses etc. But I don't know the legalities of all that...
  2. I think ABC... it starts Nov 30th,
  3. I dont have a problem with this season's winner, IMO, Ashley's work was miles above anything Gretchen produced, that winning was a travesty. This season has less standouts for me, and I was thinking this could be just about anybody's win. They all had at least one or two looks that I loved... And also some pieces that were not so great. I liked Ashley's use of color, the jewel tone pieces really worked on the runway. She also edited down the flowered head pieces so it wasn't every single look. Putting plus size models in form fitting outfits was a good choice, it seems like plus size means drape me in a tent and hide any notion of shape/ body parts etc.., so I liked the see through hints. I think I liked less if Kelly's stuff, but I thought she had the win. Some of her looks were cool, but I didn't like a lot of her use of the nude illusion stuff, it just made me think of pantyhose. Overall I don't think this was the most awesome season, but it wasn't the worst by far for me... It was just kind of boring. ( but not from a drama standpoint! Don't put in more drama!!! I want more interesting clothes, that's all!!)
  4. Definitely... like Baby was collecting things knowing that Dean was going to need them... At least that's the impression I thought we were supposed to get from all of the stuff going missing or being shown disappearing into the car. This episode was a lot of fun once you adjusted to the 'perspective of the car'.
  5. While the mirror isn't going to change bulges and lumps and things, the fact that it makes one look skinnier is deceptive for a retailer. I know I've had outfits or dresses/jeans that fit really well and were very flattering... clothes you put on and say dang, this makes me looks thin and hot!! As opposed to the mirror telling you that an outfit makes you look thinner... So you get home and try the clothes on in your normal mirror, the slimming effect is gone and the outfit isn't so flattering any more... that's a problem. Or what happens when all you have are skinny mirrors, but then someone takes a picture of you or a video... and that dress isn't as slimming as you thought! It's like Cher on Clueless... i don't trust mirrors so I take polaroids :P
  6. Saw Switch Witch at Target today... though it wasn't that ugly stuffed doll, but more of a witch figurine. The story is something about a witch needing candy to power the broom or something.. I didn't look at it long enough to get the whole story because I don't really care. But it was interesting to see it in the store. I didn't even look at the price.
  7. Is fashion week essentially the same time every year? ( are there two? Spring/ fall or something) like a known entity that could therefore be scheduled around? I know it is a lot of schedules to coordinate with Heidi and Tim and the jusges... But seriously... Why not readjust the schedule so the designers can have a decent amount if time for their collection and not need a billion decoy collections since fashion week is at the end if the season... It would give being top three a lot more meaning.
  8. I actually liked Ashley's dress a lot... I think it's a cool fabric and it looked good on the runway. It was also different in it's design- the one shoulder and the way she cut the bodice was unique instead of the same old dress over and over again. Overall I do agree that she's had some disasters- though I actually thought the judges made the right decisions in picking something worse than Ashley's outfit to go home. Like tonight... Edmond's dress was a mess! He just kept going and going at it and it looked overworked to me and wasn't anything different or red carpet worthy. I like Edmond and was sorry to see him eliminated, but his dress was the worst this week. I can see the save happening and it won't be a surprise... but I still think it's stupid. I hate all of these saves or last chance kitchens or whatever other bullshit reason they come up with for bringing someone back. Once you're out you are out... everyone has to lose at some point. Using the TG save for the finale just sounds stupid.... you got eliminated, but here's your ticket to fashion week anyway! lame! I'd rather the window for it's use have passed. And really, it doesn't mean the designers are bad this season (even if they are) but just that Tim didn't disagree with the judges on the eliminations... or at least that's what the TG save was supposed to be for. Candice's dress was nice, but safe and a little boring... it was all the fabric that made the sheer stuff look cool. She also grates on the nerves, so she can go away any time. I like Kelly and she's definitely been making some interesting looks these last few weeks. That said, I'm not totally sold on the jumpsuit. The textile she made was neat and the pants appeared to fit perfectly... but the top left something to be desired for me. I don't think this season has been as great as some of the others... but not awful... and I actually like the lack of drama during this final part of the season. Candice is mean girl enough in her talking heads, but in the work room everyone seems to get along fine. I just want to see the work... I don't care about the drama.
  9. That's what I'm saying, though... the complaint was why use a wipe that you can poke your fingers through, but you can already poke your fingers through TP, but most people still manage to use TP without covering their hand in poo. A wipe that is flushable should be poke through-able, but if you are wiping and not trying to poke through it, your hands should still stay clean.
  10. You don't have to poke your fingers through the wipe to use it... even if you can easily put your fingers through it, (like you can with toilet paper) it doesn't mean that your fingers automatically sail right through it the second you pick it up. There are a lot of things that can't withstand direct straight through pressure, but when the forces are going more angular they hold up just fine. I'd imagine that's the deal with these and any other flushable wipe.
  11. I seriously thought the woman was going to tap out on the first day before she even took her clothes off... It's too bad she only lasted 4 days, I thought they would have made a good team. They had been off to a good start. Poor guy seemed like he was losing his marbles all alone in the dark.
  12. I don't know if it was the products... Or the sharks... Or both, but this episode was booooring! I don't always pay attention to the deal stuff anyway, especially when Kevin gets yammering... But I really didn't care this week. The valet thing.. Sure solves a problem in some areas... But doesn't seem very proprietary. The wooden rimmed hats were cool looking... But I don't think i'd ever buy one. Didn't like the look of the bow tie. The glasses Chapstick... Is it really the big of a problem? The sock of the month thing seemed like they are already doing well... But I think the subscription box thing is going to hit a wall soon, there are so many!
  13. As a parent currently in the bottle stage... I think the beebo is kind of stupid... definitely a baby product that isn't anywhere on the list of something everyone could use/need. But I do see where it would be a gift or a OMG we need everything! type of purchase. Personally, I think Lori wanted in on the deal with AK just so she could have an excuse to hang out with Ashton Kutcher. I thought he was fine as a guest shark, I actually like that he was telling Kevin to stuff it when he was being such a jerk. The drinking vinegar things didn't interest me much, but I'm not a big drinker anyway. The whole "drinking vinegar every day is so good for you" thing has no science to back it up, so hearing them repeat it over and over was annoying. The rocket skate guys totally seemed like they were there for the publicity... they didn't need a deal. It's a product that fills a need that doesn't exist, not to mention how expensive they were. Lame product IMO. The card shield guy had a good presentation/personality... but like others have said, I don't think his product is all that necessary... but a good way to cash in on people's paranoia.
  14. I was okay with the hard time the password guys were getting... how many programs are already out there like that? And honestly, having your phone or tablet or whatever always automatically log you in to things doesn't seem more secure to me... but I'm just a woman, so what do I know. Lori's attitude about women and technology was irritating as hell. I think there are people of both genders who aren't so tech savvy and might find use in an app like this, but it's hardly anything new. The hummus guy had a good attitude... it was sort of hilarious to me that Mark didn't even get to make an offer :P Whatever, dude, you high pressure people all the time, you snooze you lose. I do feel bad for Robert about the edible cup deal... he was the first one to jump on it and came up with the multiple sharks deal, but then got cut out of it. Some weeks I like Barbara and others I don't... her attitude this week- about how not picking her for a food product was a huge mistake, and her thing about crying with the eyelash lady was very grating. I didn't like her so much this week. Not sure if I think the edible cups are all that... I suppose just for a party or dessert, but I feel like it would end up sticky or mushy if you held onto it for too long. It could expand into other things though, like an edible plate or bowl. I don't think it could replace traditional dishware or cups, since I don't know how well they'd hold up for a longer period of time. It's certainly a novel product though.
  15. I thought it was just okay. I was really glad to see Grissom back, the show hasn't been the same without him. I never cared that much about the S/G relationship, but I am sort of glad that they worked things out. While I didn't need closure on every single person in the lab, how come we got nothing when it came to Greg? He was the last original cast member ( or close to it) all we got was a post bomb defusal hug... Very disappointing. The case was pretty meh.... I knew who the bad guy was as soon as I recognized Doug Hutchinson... You don't hire that creeper for just one scene. Lady heather came back too many times... I'm still going to miss CSI, but more for what it used to be... Still don't care about any of the spinoffs. Oh and at least this one didn't get delayed or postponed by football for once... I guess that's something.
  16. I'm okay with the auf and the win this week... though I don't think any of the looks were that awesome. I liked Ashley's concept and color story, but she didn't manage her time well and it was obvious in the execution. But I still like her, so I'm glad she didn't get the boot this week. Candice's look was okay, but definitely heading into pirate costume territory... and the boobs were droopy and sad. I like Edmund's look a lot. I didn't mind his puffy vest thing, it was attention getting without being ridiculous looking. And his pants and top were very well made and fit.... his top would have been a good one for the bra challenge a couple of weeks back... he didn't seem to have any trouble constructing a supportive, well fitting garment this time around. Swapnil's top was interesting, but what didn't work for me was how the skirt and top connected... the top fell like flaps over the skirt, it looked unfinished to me... or almost like a painter's smock or something. I can totally see why it wasn't in the top just on that detail alone. Laurie... oh Laurie... that top was terrible. How hard would it have been to put some sort of bandeau of a nude/white fabric underneath? The top would have still looked cool, yet offered the model some support and coverage. Those shorts though... damn, here's all the booty! She's lucky she didn't get the auf this week. Lindsey's green dress was nothing special, and looked unfinished and unflattering to me. This runway was not so impressive.... I don't know what Heidi was talking about.
  17. Very disappointed with the winner... I thought Merline's look was just as bad as Blake's... it was poorly put together and I HATED the underwear. Not that a front seam and cameltoe is good, but it was like a V pointing to the crotch. I mean, I guess that could be what she was going for, but it just looked bad. I don't like the reimagined version for the website either though, so maybe it's just a style of bottoms I dislike. I though Ashley should have won. The color choice and design was great. It looked really good on the model and fit well. The coverup was also an actual construction and not just a wrap of fabric. I liked Swapnil's though I don't think it was the best ever. The beige pieces didn't look right. I also don't think his bra would really be that hard to get into/out of, it looks fancy in the front, but the back was complete normal bra... unhook it and bam, boobies are free. Blake's was terrible and I'm fine with him going. He was grating on the nerves in addition to bad designs. The other bottom looks were bottom worthy, but I do think the judges made the right choice (unless they wanted to send Merline home, I would have been okay with that too) I don't know why they offered base bras if they were going to ding people for making use of them. If Merline got extra praise for 'building her own' it seems like a sabotage to give them bra pieces to work with in the first place. Plus, it's a bra and panties, how unique can it really be??? I don't have a problem with the designers making some use of the already made bras if they actually did something to them, like Ashley. There was definitely a lot of terrible underwear out there. I think Joseph had the right idea with his talking head about why so much of the high waisted huge panties? His might have 'relaxed' a little before the runway making them look loose, but he at least knew where the waistband should fall. Overall, i thought this challenge could have had some potential... but was majorly disappointing.
  18. I feel like in the past, it's never been a problem to use muslin as a base for the unconventional materials- people attaching a million petally things/ feathers to a skirt for example... though I do think the more creative people get and the less fabric they use, the more I like the looks. But just using some muslin so a zipper can be put in and then covering all of the fabric with unconventional material seems reasonable to me. like in the flower/plant UC material challenge, the moss and flowers needed to be attached to something. I don't think a zipper would sew to well into cards by themselves, but depending on how they were held together- duct tape for example, might go through a machine and hold together... I don't think having a muslin base is inherently breaking the rules... but when your entire look is painted muslin with a few letters/words glued to it, that's not using the UC materials, it's using muslin for your look instead of using it as a support structure... if that makes sense? But we've never been told the official rules, so who knows :P Wasn't the vagina dress all glued onto muslin?? That dress was so bad, but not because of the color design, but the shape of the dress over all was just so terrible...
  19. Isn't one of the other girls also a vegetarian? Or maybe it's that she just doesn't like fish? I remember a few episodes back someone eating some fish and not saving any for the third girl ( who was off meeting the two guy team) and the other girl wasn't eating any... Though maybe survival trumps her choice to not eat meat.
  20. Why did we only have 2 bottom looks this time?? I mean, I know that they were all "Ashley, you're lucky you have immunity!" but that shouldn't necessarily mean that only 2 people are in contention for the bottom. It means that Ashley is luck and some other person has to join the bottom three... or they could bring her out and critique her dress knowing that she can't be sent home. There were a lot of looks that were worse, IMO anyway, and letting them be safe is annoying. I didn't mind Blake's dress, but I would have put it in the middle due to the amount of fabric he used. The black glittery dress was really nice looking and I thought it should have been one of the top looks over some of the ones they chose. I did like the winning dress, and I thought Swapnil made good use of the 3d embellishments, which they pointed out in the beginning of the challenge were part of this fancy new line of cards. I didn't like the hoodie plus fringe skirt look at all, and was so confused when they had it as a top look. But I suppose, I rarely am on the same page as the judges... so it's no surprise.
  21. Regarding Tim's comments about Duncan's dress.. I liked it a lot more in the work room as well... It had more design to it vs just a wrap of fabric... But either in execution or as he continued working, it turned into too much. I did like the color, though, and I don't know why the judges were so whiny about that color. Plus this was a mad dash for fabric, they only had so much to choose from vs a shop at mood.
  22. So... not a horrible start... though I disagree with who they sent home... probably in part because I liked Duncan and thought it'd be interesting to see what else he could do. As someone else mentioned, he seems like one who is very open to criticism and would be listening to the judges and making changes (although I don't know if listening to the judges is always a good thing :P ) That black dress was still boring and the train looks like when my 2 year old sticks a blanket in the back of her pants to be a peacock... nothing thrilling IMO. I did agree with the winner and was okay with the other two bottom choices, though some of the 'safe' looks were pretty terrible too. I didn't get chatty cathy's look (names are hard in the beginning! but the lady who wouldn't be quiet) It looked like weird pajamas to me, and the back was even worse. I also disliked the color or something about the fabric, it looked stiff or at least uncomfortable. The biggest thing I noticed this episode was that a good portion of the models seemed terrible... I know they are supposed to walk all weird anyway, but the clomping stomping down the runway made some of the clothes look even worse... just walk normal, seriously!
  23. I love how ridiculous this show is... it makes the recaps even better... P-Tail had me cracking up... I know this show is the fakest faker that ever faked... but sometimes, I do think there are people dumb enough to try scams like this that inspire Charles and his crew to come up with some of these episodes.... though I'd expect they would be people who were caught immediately for being so stupid instead of making the owner look stupid that this has been happing for months under their nose.
  24. Can i just say that finding a forum for this show today has like made my day?? This is one of my favorite most ridiculous shows... and I've been hoping for people to discuss it's ridiculousness with! :) I knew the mother was going to have some charity line or a birthday party or something for why she was giving away the burgers... that was too early on to be the real (fake) culprit. This season has been interesting with the new gadgets... but i agree that the whole stopping the truck in it's tracks thing seemed kind of useless, although I suppose it kept the driver by the food truck so he could be caught 'red handed' and the owner guy could then yell stuff at the food truck people when he walked by. The sad thing about this show- even though we know it's fake, I still believe there are people in this world who would try stuff like this to make a few extra bucks...
  25. If he gives Stahma a chance to explain, it's clear that she killed Christie to save the baby. We all know Christie was dead either way and if Stahma didn't do it, Datak and Christie would be dead and possibly the baby too. She got them out of the house before he cried. I'd think that would at least give him a little pause before straight up slitting her throat. I'm glad Alak was able to escape on his own... but I do wish Datak and Stahma had told Nolan what was going on... he probably would have helped them get Alak and they could have worked together to protect Defiance by feeding the VC wrong info etc. But I guess that's too much teamwork when the Tarrs are so often the 'bad guy.'
