  1. That is where I am not sure that they did not know he was compromised. I mean Management is pretty elusive and I wonder how much they know. I assumed Peter Prime being in Echo was because Prime Management was monitoring him to get Intel from his Alpha, and as we don't know if there is one or two management I thought what was going on with both Peters was known. To sum up, I didn't think management was stupid enough To not know alpha Peter was compromised but that is just me assuming indeed
  2. @shapeshifter Yanek seem to say that 2 versions cannot coexist and will end up destroying each other, while Lamberts (And the ménage à trois women last season) were on the contrary symbiotic and perfectly happy with each other. Yanek is all "this is war" while Lambert was "double the fun". So even if Yanek was there as the beginning, Howard wasn't so wrong in challenging him about having authority on how you act towards your other. Maybe it doesn't have to be war, and maybe you can be "the same but different" (as Quayle Prime said, once again brillant dialogue to sum up the whole show). You can be very similar but still have a choice.
  3. OK, after rewatch, time to drive more into it. We finally got more information on the origins of the duplication. What we knew till now was only Quayle's exposition in the Pilot, an experiment gone wrong, but that could have also been BS, just what he was told. Yanek seems to confirm that he and a team of scientists are responsable for this, and that the initial utopia of "2 worlds twice the knowledge" got corrupted by greed. There are huge hints he is Mira's father or at least was his mom's lover. Juma hinted that Mira used to be privvy to Management, but she apparently needs Janek's knowledge (I doubt she freed him out of daughterly love). What is her final endgame? It could be either destroying Alpha world out of revenge or wanting to recombine the 2 worlds in one. Ian/Wesley is an Alpha who defected to Prime under Management protection due to threats on his life. What was he doing in Alpha world that put his life at risk but still mattered enough for Prime Management? Was his affair with Emily Prime a ploy or sincere ? Clare' s weaknesses are Spencers, both Big and Baby. Big Spencer is her childhood love while Baby Spencer is the most precious thing she has. She seemed sentimental when she deemed Peter still valuable, although I think it is not because she loves him but because he remains Baby Spencer's father. Clare enrollment to the cause was due to her parent's death and I would think that even if she despises Peter, she wouldn't want to have her daughter's dad die. Now Big Spencer's sincerity with her remain to be proven, but good for them to finally do it, I guess. Howard Alpha kills for the second time. After all these talks with Yanek he might ask himself lots of questions now. What his and Emily Prime next moves are going to be is a good question. Naya is an awesome addition, I don't think she will get fooled by Quayle cover story about the secretary being Shadow. She might suspect that he is covered and persistent as she is I don't see her letting him off the hook just like that And even if the secretary story is bought, Quayle will still be viewed as the moron who got fooled by a woman, how could he stay director of strategy in these conditions? But he is "important", at least to Indigo, and his other was locked for super long, since he was quite young apparently, but why, and would Management really not know about it? Last season when he was named responsible for the Mole search it sounded like Management deliberately put him there but then they hire Naya to uncover him? This episode felt more like a 2h thriller than a simple episode really!! And apart from all that, the little touches here and there... The stolen tapes in both worlds. The Lamberts contradicting Janek's theory. Mira's look to Emily. "No one important ever call me here..." And unfortunately not enough people watch the show, despite it being stellar. If it isn't renewed I hope the end of S2 is satisfying or that it gets picked back up by Amazon or Netflix, whatever. Come on viewers, help quality shows live on!
  4. The specification made me laugh ! Baby Spencer is the mastermind Management who protects her mommy and daddy 🤣, that is why Quayle is so lucky and Clare still not discovered!!!!
  5. Alpha is our world and Prime the other. This comes from mathematics where the alpha value is the original one and prime is the derived value (derivations and integrals, ah the memories, all nighters for partials...). And yes, what this cast does superbly is make these characters deeply human and relatable. Quayle represents the epitome of what should be hated these days, egoistical priviledged incompetent white twerp, but he manages to make him real, flaws and all. And Peter Prime reminds me of Brad Pitt in 12 Monkeys, with a childish side that makes him endearing. I honestly felt bad for both versions. The self depreciating one locked in that basement for too long, always thinking he is the bad version, and the other put in the deepest shit ever because of his incompetence and gullability. It was interesting to see Alpha reverting to being a lost child when he asked Prime Howard what to do, you could see the similarity with his other right there. Even if you despise the character, Alpha Peter call to Claire, saying goodbye to their daughter before going killing himself was touching. I really need to rewatch to analyse everything in this episode.
  6. Wow, that had me on the edge of my seat, the tension was incredible, so much happening! Less character study here but huge plot action I need to rewatch it though to now grasp the little details and subtelties, they turn out to be very important with that show. And I repeat it each week but the acting on that show is magnificent, and Harry Lloyd was so good in this one
  7. I highly doubt Management doesn't know Quayle is a major screw up. Him being where he is is 100% intentional, he even recognized it with Aldrich. Now in terms of plot, he is far more involved than the Red Shirts and his arc is clearly discovering what he is made of when his luck runs out.
  8. Oh I really really love this show so much! Intersting introspection in the past of both Emily and Howard. We never knew about Howard's father, but it seems that Prime and Alpha were already different before Emily's betrayal So Emily was passing info to Lambert, uh? Is she discovering that she was an antagonist little by little? Still loving O. Williams. Last year was JK's season (and he still is awesome) but for now she is the one who shines. And A!Emily seems to be onto P!Howard Another one is Harry Lloyd. Alpha Quayle is a smug incompetent but Prime Quayle is...a lost kid (and deep down who Alpha tries to pretend he is not). Yanek said they "took him in so young", I wonder why? I thought Quayle got to director of strategy because of his relation with Clare, but was it planned by management to put him in his position for that long that they locked his Prime so early ? We know nothing about him besides his position and Clare. Clare learning the truth about her parents (although why keep this veeeery compromising recording?) That is going to put a whole new spin on her loyalty to "her" side. All these years of training, killing your other, fake marriage all for a revenge on the wrong people? OUCH Baldwin... still can't care for her character, she needs something To make her more intersting How did anyone know so fast about Ian and the case? Not really careful here, mate. So we are semi rid of Lambert...the remaining one is up to something but that look on Quayle's face...you thought you crawled your way out of the deep shit you were in just to take a deeper dive!
  9. I agree, the show could easily ditch it but I don't think that is what makes the audience not watch. I think the network and discreet promotion might be a factor, as well as the fact that the leads are not necessarily young, Hollywood models, and that despite having twists and turns the show is not the "in your face" type. It takes its time, it is more thought out in termd of season than episodes, I don't know, but it deserves so so much more IMO
  10. What a great episode it was! I am still in awe with Olivia Williams, who continues to be fantastic at being both Alpha and Prime. She is the cornerstone of the season and alpha Emily chasing herself the same way Prime is is fantastic writing. I love the fact that this show is good not only at macro level with the spy games, but in the small intimate human moments like when Alpha Emily kisses Prime Howard, so much there! Lambert becomes even more detestable each episode, that is narcissism pushed at the extreme! We finally see ECHO and I loved seeing Prime Quayle (and can we please command Harry Lloyd's ability at playing man-child so accurately ? That takes skill !). If we thought Alpha Quayle was a looser now his other is even more pathetic (dare I say "challenged"?) Poor Howard, after being mind-screwed by Yanek, gets beat up for what his Other did? How long can he stay a gentleman? So Ian found the case, can't wait to see what is in there. Is Spencer really Spencer ? That threw Clare off at least. The irony for Quayle : even when he tries to do the right thing, he still manages to screw up. At that point that is almost talent. With Naya knowing Aldrich was not Shadow, he is in even deeper shit than before. I don't care for Baldwin but I guess they found a way to keep her in the story. The reluctant Clare/Quayle/P.Howard/Baldwin collaboration seems promising I really wish more would watch such a great show
  11. I really liked Naya Temple and am eager To see her impact on the story Olivia Williams was magnificent. Interesting parallel between Her and Prime Howard situation. I love me some JK simmons, and of course he is fantastic at being the 2 Howards, but I was a bit bugged that everyone else's acting was overlooked. I hope the story has more in store for the other characters And especially Emily I am in the minority that appreciate Quayle for being probably the most relatable flawed character in the story. In a world full of badasses like Clare, Prime Howard and such, Quayle might act the most as anyone would actually do: cover his own ass and not being very good at it. He was a priviledge person on every level and seeing him squirm and struggle feels satisfying Management is still a cypher, I Guess next episode will be in Prime world
  12. https://www.forbes.com/sites/merrillbarr/2018/12/01/counterpart-season-2-review-justin-marks-amy-berg-j-k-simmons-howard-silk-olivia-williams-harry-lloyd-james-cromwell-starz/ This really got me hyped for the season To come. One of my nitpick was that the direction was a bit slow at times despite loving the story (and I read many comments about people not keeping up with the show because they found it boring, which is a shame), so reading that this aspect has been improved pleases me greatly
  13. We know that Sam and Frank kept some secrets from Annalise previously, like Sam knowing Frank's implication in Annalise car accident that killed Her baby, so I assumed it was another Frank/Sam secret on the side, but that is stretching.
  14. That was...Meh. Wedding was fine if not a tad sappy for my stone cold heart but ok. Gabriel is Sam son : fine with me. Not sure where it will go but why not. Nate blungeons Miller and Bonnie finished him? Bad. I see what they wanted to do: like father like son with Nate, a somewhat ok guy who loses it ; and Bonnie forced To kill a Man who loved her (cashing on Liza Weil's talent) but this just rings false and forced. I too would be up for more AK, Tegan and Connor.
  15. While I agree that they don't look exactly alike, I find ludicrous to overlook that they do share some similar features : it is not like Gabriel is a small, plumpy, blue-eyed blond White guy. He does resemble Wes more than any other of the male cast and that is difficult for me to see it as just a coïncidence
  16. The new characters seem promising I hope they continue to expand the universes as well as S1 did, can't wait !
  17. Well, the show got royally snubbed by the Emmys I know these awards have less to do with talent than popularity but not even a nod to JK Simmons? Barf
  18. Harry Lloyd was in Counterpart and will be on seaon 2. He is really great at playing incompetent man-child
  19. Finally started watching and I just wanted to say that on top of being well written, well produced and acted, the show use of Nick Cave, PJ Harvey, Arctic Monkeys and the likes as soundtrack just cemented my love for it. On to S3-S4, now!
  20. I am more than fine with the pace of the storytelling, it is more the direction that I found a bit too slow. I remember falling asleep in the middle of 1 or 2 of the episodes of the first half of the season
  21. So I loved the concept, the acting and the overall story but I feel the direction could be more dynamic at times. I felt the show gained interest after Claire’s reveal, and they could get rid of Baldwin now honestly I’ll still tune in for S2, because there is much more to love than dislike but I could do with a little more edge / speed
  22. The show Counterpart does great job at tackling this premise, and JK Simmons get to play (awesomely) the main(s) part(s). The show could be a little more dynamic at times but I definitely recommend it when you're into those kind of themes (and John LeCarré espionnage type of stories).
  23. A bit sad they killed Baz just because Speedman and Hatosy were always clicking so well on screen, but The Whodunnit is interesting. Funny how I couldn’t stand Pope in the first episodes of S1 and find him to be my favorite character now. Nikki grated so him lashing out at her was oddly satisfying. Smurf is such a mind bender that I can’t know for sure that she wasn’t at least a tad sad Baz was dead. J is still as unreadable as ever. The girls being embarrassed at the 3 brothers crying by the pool made me laugh, weirdly. But I liked seeing that despite Baz not being their biological brother, they still saw him as such. And Pope saying he’d kill whoever did Baz if it found them was a euphemism, he looked ready to raise Hell on earth. Hatosy can be scary AF, what an actor, he and Barkin are just awesome to watch. Anyway, interesting new dynamic for this season.
  24. Hasn’t Ford already achieved it though? He speaks through many hosts, the kid that was shot earlier, Lawrence’s daughter this time...Has he managed to transfer » himself into some hosts, hence why he was fine with Dolores shooting him last season?
  25. I liked it far better than last week, but I can't really tell why, strangely. Maybe because I loved how the transition of Jimi Simpson into Ed Harris was done? Because it was a nice change from Dolores who kinda irritated me last time? Maybe because I finally see the point of Westworld and why it was built? Last year, even if I enjoyed the show, part of me was still thinking that it was much a do about nothing, or rather, a highly high tech amusement park only loaded people could afford. I didn't put too much thinking into it initially, but now it finally makes sense, the search for immortality. On a side note: Elsie is back, loved seeing her again!
