  1. Yeah, I've occasionally seen message boards that go all over the place on this show. You have some like RO says are really crude and obnoxious and full o' trolls. Then you have other places where they are full of "true believer" fans. Like the ones who still want to send food and clothing to those poor Browntown kids. Neither forum is where I would want to spend much time at all on. That's why I like this forum. We playfully snark on this show all the time without too crude and obscene. Not that the Discovery folks mind at all -- they're laughing all the way to the bank regardless. Another thing though that doesn't pass the smell test -- why do they have to permanently leave Browntown? (ok, we do know why -- they lost their lease to that land). But what's the show's explanation? Haven't quite heard that. I mean, if Ami gets well (hopefully!), then they can resume their lives in the bush. If things don't go well (you know, the worst happens), they can still pack up and go home (i.e. Browntown). Don't see why they have to permanently dismantle the place. And what about that nifty wind turbine thingie that Noah-divinci apparently finally got working? Is that also going on the scrapheap? Just makes no sense. Like a lot of stuff about this show. :)
  2. Excellent review once again, realityobserver! Once again, you pretty much encapsulated all my feelings in that post of yours. I'll just add this. In the (one of many) flashbacks tonight, the narrator was saying something like, "Due to the Browns well rounded education, Matt shows us how he builds his house.." That just made me laugh out loud. Yes, it takes such a "well rounded education" to know that you can actually stack old tires on top of one another! Brilliant! More like a LACK of a well rounded educated background for these idiots. Looks like next week we get....EVEN MOAR FLASHBACKS! Awesome.
  3. Was about to say the same thing, LR. That I really thought Wild Bill would really go off on his crew about the cod. He certainly been more pissed about lesser things on the boat. Do I dare say it?...maybe Bill is mellowing somewhat? Either that or he felt those guys fishing in that terrible weather was punishment enough for them. :)
  4. Seems to be working fine this time, RO. Loved your review on your blog. Agreed with pretty much everything you put in there. I also have kinda liked Bam. You could tell from earlier episodes he was going through the motions. And seemingly detested being part of this farce. It was like he couldn't get away from it soon enough. Though it was nice seeing his talk with Billy. Probably about the best part of last night's episode. Once again, cancer sucks. And I hope Ami does recover from it. Feel bad for her and anyone affected by that disease that must be wiped forever from this planet. I also call BS on Noah-Divinci being able to get the wind turbine working to power everything around Browntown all by his lonesome. The guy needs a cane to walk around with. No way can I see him climbing up and down that wind turbine platform to get everything situated and hooked up in order to get power to everything around the Browntown homestead. Snowbird and the bird calls/bird treats. Ugh. Less said about that scene, the better. And I don't know why it bothered me so much, but them going in and out of their "froggy"-type accents really annoyed me. It has always irritated me to some degree in the past. But for some reason it got on my last nerve more than usual of late. Even with Ami's dire diagnosis, I still don't see why they couldn't have gone to a clinic that was hella closer to Browntown than this place. Heck, even the Mayo Clinic is closer. Seems to me they (if this was even close to a legit show) could have still found a place that had a decent hospital/clinic that still was close to wide open sparsely inhabited "bush" areas for them to set up Browntown II. Heck, they probably didn't even have to leave Alaska to do that. So still don't know why they had to go all the way to SoCal for this. (unless it's just close to Disco headquarters and they wanted to save some production II).
  5. Well, I guess with everyone in the (way) lower 48, Noah has the house all to himself -- he doesn't have to live in the chicken coop any longer! Yay! Winner winner, chicken dinner! :) I was going to add but forgot to mention that little part about Bear and his EXTREME JUICE. All that pounding of fruit into that bag, climbing around like a marsupial, howling like a wolf, etc., might have been cute when he was in his teens. Or even 20's. But now that he's turned 30, it just looks dumb/weird/psychotic. Cut your hair, act like and adult and get a (real) job. Speaking of haircut, agreed with most of you -- Rain's haircut looks good on her. She probably acted the most mature out of all of the kids from that episode. And the location also bothered me. Why did they have to travel that far down there for a biopsy? I am sure there are capable clinics that are closer to good ol' Browntown than that place. Plus, I think it would take a lot of trout to barter to raise enough $$ for all of them to travel that far. Or maybe they found another cedar stash of Bam's lying around to barter with. ;) Perhaps I missed it, but what the heck is powering the electric bearproof fence? I thought they used all the generator gas for that stupid mill thing of Matt's. And I didn't think that wind turbine thing was fully functional yet. Though I s'pose Noah-Divinci supposedly had months to work on that thing. Perhaps he got it to function finally. ;)
  6. Sheesh. Could they drag this stuff out any further? First their "new" show of the year was basically just a clipfest. And now this episode drags this whole, "What is wrong with Ami" to the end of the show....and even THEN we still didn't get the results of the test. "Tune in next week to see the kids doing dumb stuff and even more filler video clips and find out once and for all, what is wrong with Ami!" It's getting to the point where it's almost ghoulish. Like they are trying to promote and make money off this poor woman's illness. And during this time, I don't believe for a second that Noah was up there in Browntown all the time by himself. If my mom were sick, no freakin' way I'd be away from her any length of time. And second of all, they all have left Browntown before. Why couldn't they do it again? Especially with their "expert bear proofing", uh, expertise. *snort* And where was good o' Bam Bam through this? I know he's "away" and not on the show now, but you would think they would have one of the family members utter some throwaway line like, "Bam was here for awhile, but had to leave for something urgent once again...." If this show goes in the direction of exploiting Ami's illness, I think I won't even tune in to snark on the show. It would be too cruel for me to ever watch again.
  7. I also got suckered in. Though I only watched until the first commercial break. I had to go someplace anyway. Good to see I didn't miss much. Really kinda smarmy of Discovery to promote the start of a new season of this series and then deliver basically a glorified clip show. Then again, they have been able to get us to watch this fake reality show this long, so I suppose I shouldn't have been terribly surprised.
  8. Never cared for the character either. As mentioned, she didn't seem to have much chemistry with the rest of the crew. She seemed to be an OK actress, but just got the feeling the writing staff had no idea what to do with her. So am not really surprised by her departure. I kinda thought they brought in too many new characters in the first place. Would love seeing Delilah become a regular. Or at least make more appearances. My memory is a bit fuzzy though, wasn't the actress who played Delilah involved in some other project(s) that limited her appearances on NCIS recently? Regardless, I hope she shows up more next season.
  9. Rain having a modeling career? Seriously? Then again, I suppose models might be hard to come by in the Alaskan wilderness. ;) I do feel sorry for 'bird. You would think with all the $$ they are making from this show (it has been on how many years now?) they could afford a decent dental plan for her. And she's not half bad looking either -- and fixing those teeth would be a boost in that area as well. And aside from Ami being sick (read: I wouldn't wish cancer on anybody - I definitely wish her well and hope she recovers), I do wonder if the owner of the land was tired of them trashing it with all their garbage and such. So perhaps he decided not to renew the lease. And if so, I wouldn't blame him one bit there. I did see a blurb on Facebook where Matt supposedly is doing better and is recovering with his family (the latter would scare me the more than the accident itself) and thanks the fans for the positive thoughts. I know it sounds mean, but I hope it knocks some sense into him. And as soon as he is able, LEAVE!
  10. Gee, guess those love poems really do work! ;) You know what's next.....grandbabies for Browntown! Heh.
  11. Was watching Disco today and they are running promo's for the new season. Apparently it's set for June 14th. Supposedly "the family faces it's darkest hour..." And they do mention Ami being sick. I just figured their darkest hour is not getting room service after 10PM any longer. ;) Sucks to hear about Matt though. Was hoping he was turning his life around. Don't know why he would do something so stupid. Unless of course, well, he's stupid.
  12. Same here. Especially since sister didn't want to be part of the Witness Protection Program. And if I were evil brother, I would be very annoyed that not only did my sister testify against me, but she also put up this elaborate ruse to get me arrested in the first place. Am also hoping this is the last of the JP character. Definitely do not want to see her as a regular for next season.
  13. I do remember though that cod fishing is really a grind. In one of the earlier seasons, Sig pretty much fished his crew 24/7 on cod, since he said he could catch as much as he wanted. And after that season, one of his crew up and quit (and I think never to be seen again). His name was Adam(?), I think. And there isn't a whole lot of $$ for all that grind either. But as they say, "It's a living..." So sometimes you do have to do stuff you don't want to in order to keep a business running.
  14. Just finally got around to seeing this. As they say, some things just can't be unseen. :) Whew. What a train wreck. And really for much of this season, the show has been going off the rails as it was. Started with that silly FBI storyline that I guess was (clumsily) supposed to introduce Ferlito's character into the show. That went on for far too long but at least it ended. And some of the episodes after that were decent. Though too many of them were missing Percy. Now we have this insipid Evil Hamilton arc. Now normally I like both SB and SW. But it's tough to watch both their characters these days. I can't buy for a second this corrupt Mayor Hamilton guy masterminding all these machinations (including murder) just to attempt to get a shipyard into New Orleans. And it's tiring to watch Pride keep flying off the handle just to try and bring down Hamilton. He had it right earlier -- just follow the leads of the case and not make it that personal. And of course all his team gladly following him into that black hole. Not even close to being realistic. Now I know these type of shows aren't exactly documentaries. They play fast and loose with the truth all the time. But I don't mind losing a bit of realism for the sake of entertainment. But this silly storyline isn't entertaining to me at all. It's just stupid. (you know, like that congresswoman drinking that "complimentary drink from the Mayor" sort of stupid). I was really hoping that the episode before this one would end this Hamilton storyline. Or maybe this one would. But NOOOOOO...it has to go on for at LEAST one more. Sigh. Just wake me when it's over.
  15. I don't know where they dug up this Chad guy. But I can't believe they decided to keep him instead of Brando. Perhaps Chad works extremely cheap(?) And agree with others -- this used to be one of my "must see" shows. Now I barely remember when it is on.
  16. I agree with those who said Kara got her job back just a little to easily. I thought perhaps Snapper would say something like, "It's about time you actually adhered to proper journalistic standards. Keep this up and perhaps you might be able to work for me again." And have her freelance for awhile before Snapper would agree to take her back. Oh well, it's really no biggie for me. I would think being a superhero and working for the DEA would be a full time job in itself. At least the opening credits are correct now -- she is a reporter for CatCo once again. :) As I said before, I like Mon-El in small doses. Am glad in this episode his dose was small. It was kinda fun to see him steal the badge and him and Kara sneaking around that office. Really don't care for Guardian plotline, but I am glad James and Winn allowed Kyra to work with them. She does kick butt rather well. Just gotta direct that kick butting properly is all. One minor thing. When Lena and Kara were talking about their "Kryptonite", just seemed a bit strange. Is Kryptonite part of their world's vernacular? I suppose the story from last season about Red Kryptonite might have made it into the public arena. Just seemed a bit funny to have them talk about it that way in their universe. Decent filler episode. Looks like Mommy Dearest is gonna be back again as soon as next week.
  17. I am with Trevor on this one. If someone offers me $400K to speak somewhere, I am taking the money and running full speed towards it. Though it boggles my small mind why Wall Street folks would give that much money to a Kenyan born commie, pinko, secret Muslim-type person. ;) And while some may not think it's a good look, I don't have a problem with it. President Obama isn't, well, president any longer. Nor is he lobbying for Wall Street trying to convince a Republican administration and Republican congress to loosen up financial regulations. At least I am pretty sure he isn't. :) So I don't have any problem with him or anyone else getting money and not using his position to buy or lobby influence anywhere.
  18. I agree. And since "Stephen" is in a cabin in the distant woods (presumably with Jon and BillO now), perhaps Tuck Buckford should be the new conservative correspondent now. :) That is if poor Stephen's vocal cords can stand the strain.
  19. And they are also taping two shows on Thursday still, right? So that would also be a reason why they would include the disclaimer about the monologue being taped before the Syrian missile launches. Did like that McCain stuff in the monologue there as well. Heh. I think there is also another reason for the taping/hybrid shows. We had the show interrupted for the NCAA basketball tourney games. And now this week, the show is delayed by the 15 minutes worth of Master's "highlights". Perhaps they felt that people would just be tuning into the monologues and then going to bed, so that was the thing they would keep the most current(?) Oh, and I really wanted to like that IRS undercover segment. But I thought it mostly fell flat. At least for me, anyway.
  20. I had heard about that Kendall Jenner/Pepsi commercial, but hadn't seen it until Colbert mocked it. Wow, that was bad. It really looked like an SNL parody commercial. Who in their right mind would green light that thing. I can easily see some tone deaf person thinking it was a good idea to make it. But to actually make it onto TV screens? Wow. Just wow. If I was a conspiratorial type person (ok, I sometimes am), I would think the folks at rival Coke infiltrated whatever marketing firm Pepsi has (or had?) and sold them on this idea. :)
  21. I wish Jordan the best. But I dunno, he is either hit or miss for me. And when he hosted The Daily Show that one time, he really looked wooden/stiff/out of sorts. Maybe he was just really nervous that night. I guess we'll find out if he's up to the job soon enough. Still miss Larry though....sigh.
  22. Yeah, I saw that Russian(?) video intrusion when I watched the show on CC tonight. And I have Comcast. I didn't know if it was some sort of video hack on The Daily Show or Comcast. Or some sort of viral marketing. I was checking Twitter, and I didn't see any bit response about it.
  23. About the only thing I liked in this episode was Bruce McGill. Enjoyed his storyline. Also for some reason I was giggling as he called Reeves a leprechaun. Great warm fuzziness at the end of the episode too. Good stuff. Btw, it was nice to see Reeves back. What, has been in even half the episodes this season? Hope now he has been talked out of suicide missions and stuff and will be featured more w/ the team. The rest was decidedly uneven for me. McGee seemed very much out of character. And I really couldn't care less if Torres and Quinn were doing the nasty or not. Actually don't care about Quinn or Torres much in general anyway. Bishop also seemed like she was back in high school as well. Grow up, people. I did chuckle though when Ducky remarked he was making progress with Gibbs, since Gibbs actually uttered a 3 syllable word. Heh. Other than that, this was pretty much a "Meh" episode for me.
  24. C'mon, Hercules. I wasn't even married to the woman, but I knew Mommy Dearest was going to do you in. You should have seen it coming yourself. Oh well. Too late now. Tsk tsk. ;) I liked this episode better than last. Though I am still a bit annoyed that Mon-el (and now his family) are taking too much episode time. I still like him more as a supporting character who is there for mostly comic relief. And for palling around with Winn. I just think Supergirl takes too much of a back seat in her own show at times. Wish there were more Kara/Alex sister moments once again as well. Speaking of Alex, that whole sequence of scenes with Maggie and her ex seemed a bit off. Like it was lifted from another episode and edited together to this episode or something. Nothing about Cadmus or finding her dad or you know, trying to locate Kara's bounty hunter. She decided to track down Maggie's ex lover instead. And in the beginning to tell her off. Just seemed a bit out of character for her to do. But in the end, I do like her mature reaction to what Maggie said about it. So, I can't really hate that plotline too terribly much I guess. Did like seeing Lynda Carter return as President once again. Will be interesting to see what her true intentions are. And agreed, Teri Hatcher looked good. She was great in this role -- she truly embraced her evilness in this episode. And I guess she will be back (she will NOT be ignored!) :) One question though. When they all were in the Fortress of Solitude, and evil mommy started to attack, where as the security? Has Supe's not repaired/replaced the other security bot that was blow'ed up earlier? Maybe not. And yeah, if I were Supergirl, I'd pack some lead just in case she shows up once again. I really thought too that Mon-el would be leaving. At least for a short while. And maybe have an episode where Supergirl and company go looking for him. But 'twas not too be. All in all, not a bad episode. At least better than the last couple or so I have seen recently.
  25. I'd probably watch NCIS: Zombie that had all my favorite zombified characters in it. Probably better than 90% of what is currently on TV now. And I also agree, I wish there would have been a phone call to Tony telling him, "Hey guess what? You have been sleeping above a dead body for 14 years. Have a nice day!" :)
