  1. Yep, saw it this morning as well. Wow, that was one of the more depressing episodes I've seen from this show. The staff seemed to be doing a decent job of keeping things running, despite virtually no resources apparently being directed back into the hotel. Mr. Bill had me going there for awhile -- I actually thought he was convinced by Anthony to keep the hotel going. The investment seemed fairly modest to bring that place back into the 21st century. But after all that work to remodel (and all those donated items to help with said remodel), good ol' Mr. Bill puts the "For Sale" sign up there once again. And then closes the place down. Just terrible. I really hope everyone there was able to find new work (and the mother a new place to live) soon afterwards. What a schmuck Mr. Bill turned out to be.
  2. Too bad. I already thought the Travel Channel was essentially the "Bizarre Foods" network now anyway. I really hope there will be more new episodes (and in their proper prime time spots). But I have to admit, I am not digging the new format that a lot of these episodes lately. Basically went from "Hotel Impossible" to "Hotel Eviction!"
  3. I was also thinking it was her. But I was also thinking, "Oh c'mon now, that is too obvious! It has to be someone else.." Maybe I have just watched this show for too long or something. ;) And yeah, I was also wishing Dinozzo would have been there to make fun of McGee's meme. I was trying to think of all the 'McGee-isms" that he would have come up with. (McThug, McGoon, McGangster, etc.) So it was nice that in the end, Dinozzo was behind all. And it was great seeing McGee get him back too. Nicely done. I liked the Clayton-centric episode. Especially since we have hardly seen/heard him around at all 'til this point in the season.
  4. Seemed like Billy would only get sick when there was actual work to do. Maybe that's what he's trying to avoid once again. ;) Honestly, I don't know what to believe out of this group of grifters. I would like to think Discovery wouldn't go THAT low and fake something as serious as someone having cancer. So I do believe Ami is fighting that terrible disease. The rest of it? Who knows? As much bullshittery as we've seen from this bunch, most anything is possible. Are these guys even near Colorado right now? Or are they all still hold up in Hoonah hotels?
  5. Yeah, I didn't give two shakes about Bishop and/or her H.S. tormentor. And I don't hate Bishop or anything -- the whole thing just seemed out of place for, I dunno, a *murder* investigation. On a personal note, I avoided going to a few of my high school reunions as well because I didn't want to run into those a-holes that I knew in school. But as the years went by, they actually turned out to be nice, decent human beings after all. Agreed on yet another smirky all-knowing psychiatrist appearing on the show. My guess is they are splitting up Ducky's duties -- Dr. Palmer doing the physical autopsy's and she will be doing the psychological ones. Her character annoys me though. I mean, this is another time some shrink-type has met up with Gibbs under slightly false pretenses. Didn't Gibb's meet his current psychiatrist in a "random" encounter there in the diner? And this one shows up on Gibb's doorstep IN A FREAKIN' HURRICANE just by "chance". Just don't like those silly little games those characters play. Had a feeling Abby's silly zombie apocalypse bag would be a plot device somewhere in this episode. And Torres is growing on me as well. Still think though there still too many new characters. Yet again there was no Clayton Reeves. And he's supposed to be a regular character(?)
  6. I know I am from IL and I should like Chicago Style thick crust pizza. But I don't -- so seeing Roy's piece on that was frackin' hilarious. :) Reminded me of Jon's takes on it in the past.
  7. Yeah, that case seemed pretty thin. Bull only mentioned the idea as a *possible* solution. He's not a lawyer himself so he couldn't have drawn up a legal document himself to finalize the deal. That should have been left up to the attorney's on her side. And any due diligence that they didn't do should be on her law firm. And I admit, it didn't end quite they way I thought it would. I actually thought that Bull would actually (gasp) lose the case. But then they would find the kid and bring him back over and she would have the judgement thrown out now that she was reunited with her kid. Am glad it ended with her and the child back together once again tho. I know they are trying to humanize Bull more. But I thought the outbursts were definitely way out of his character. Even though the second one was more calculated on his part. I thought Brad Garrett was great as the lawyer in this episode. Wouldn't mind seeing his character return at some point.
  8. I don't mind seeing Casey coming back. He's a legit captain/crabber. But rather not see Josh again. Unless he has changed his "playing captain on TV" ways.
  9. Meh. It was better than last week's episode, but that wasn't exactly a very high bar to clear. :) Gregorio annoyed me less than usual. And Percy was back. So, there's that. Still can't believe it took them so long to figure out they were being tracked by their cellphones. That was one of the first things I would thought of in their position. And while I enjoyed the ending, it was pretty similar to an old NCIS episode where the Russians thought one of their targets was killed, only to be staged in similar fashion like this. Still I am glad she and her brother are still alive. I did kinda like the role reversal as well. And I do feel for FBI dude. He is so screwed. But then again he can say, "Hey, at least I didn't kidnap the mayor of New Orleans and throw someone else off a tall building!" :) One thing that kinda bugs me is they all are dressed so casual. Double agent FBI lady was a murder and traitor and all, but at least she dressed appropriately. :)
  10. Finally got around to watching this. Kinda wish I didn't now. ;) Dang, that lady gets the drop on Pride not once but twice in this episode? Then allows her to grab a weapon just as his team rolls in to finally save his sorry butt. And then they allow "Misery Lady" to actually interrogate the prime suspect!? Seriously!? This show is going off the rails fast. Also, more points off for no Percy (and no explanation for no Percy as well). Will still keep watching but man...the last few episodes have been really sub par of late.
  11. Agreed. I feel for the owners who are inbetween the proverbial rock and a hard place. Though they didn't seem to empathize with their staff very well. But I really wish they would go back to the original format where they would inspect rooms, talk to the owners about what they are doing wrong and how to improve and actually, well, rescuing the hotel for their original owners. Even though I know in the pat the owners would still sell anyway. It's just so depressing when they are just fixing it up just for someone to swoop in and buy it and make all the necessary changes themselves.
  12. I generally liked it. Also like the voiceover at the beginning. And it was nice they actually addressed some of their concerns about $$ to keep their little operation going. Though a couple of things I did wonder about. They found out the weapon didn't have any fingerprints on it. Wouldn't the police have discovered that themselves and had about a dozen red flags suddenly pop up? And I still don't get that juror from Calisto, TX. Did she actually turn out to be a plant? Or was it some super coincidence after all? And with her talking on the phone outside the courthouse, couldn't they have gotten her dismissed anyway for talking about the case? But all in all, I kinda liked the episode. Good to see Chunk going to law school. I was worried that maybe that would be a way to write him off the show. But glad he is sticking around (apparently).
  13. Well...I like both McGee and Deliliah. But don't give two shakes about the baby's name or any drama surrounding said baby.
  14. Oh man..I was so hoping the body wasn't Holmes. They did really have me going that he could have possibly escaped is execution. That would have been a great story in itself. I am glad they got the DNA tests back though. I think I would have screamed at my TV set if they would have ended the show by saying either, "Tune in next season where we learn the results of the DNA test!" or if they would have said, "DNA tests came back inconclusive." I was really expecting the latter. One thing that did surprise me though. As they were digging, they seemed surprised that they had to dig further than 8 feet. Didn't they uncover cemetery records that indicated Holmes wanted to be buried 10 feet down? So I would have expected they would have had to dig at least 10 feet to find him. *shrug* I still remain skeptical that Holmes is The Ripper. But I still enjoyed the show though and learned more about the Holmes than I knew before. I'd probably watch another season. Hey, at least they are talking history on the History Channel for a change! :)
  15. I suppose they could say (*shiver*) that they are home schooling (*shudder*) her. Though I have no idea if the regulations about that sort of thing differ greatly from Alaska to California to Colorado.
  16. I totally forgot about this week being the season finale (what season of it there actually was). So I completely missed out on this episode. Darn! So thanks realityobserver -- appreciate you taking one for the team and watching this for us once again! Holy carp. What a trainwreck of an episode it apparently was. Once again, the editing gypsies over at Disco aren't even trying to make this a coherent show. Then again, when you have this sort of subject material... Still, just sounds like a bunch of flashbacks sliced together with a bunch of "lost footage". And this Colorado stuff really folds and spindles any sort of suspension of disbelief for me. Some dude just happens to have 40 acres of land to give to any grifter that comes along? Really? They must think the audience is smoking some of that stuff that is now legal out there. And judging from what I am reading on other boards, a lot of the "true believers" are starting to turn on this show now as well. Oh, just like the Flat Earthers, you can still present evidence to the contrary until you are quite blue in the face, and they will never change their mind. Such is the case with a lot of the Brown Believers. But I am seeing a lot of them starting question what is taking place now on this snow. Which I suppose is refreshing to some degree. So Gabe and Noah are thinking of leaving? It did seem for awhile that Gabe had pretty much checked out of the show. And Noah becoming a LEO? BAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Yeah, he would be real effective chasing down those criminals stumbling around with that cane of his. Not to mention I doubt if he would pass a psych test. I wonder if they are trying to set up some sort of spinoff. I mean, since they are in Colorado they aren't exactly "Alaskan" Bush People any longer. Maybe they will spinoff the kids and call it something like, "Alaskan Bush People -- Colorado edition!" Or "Alaskan Bush People -- the Next Generation!" Or even, "Alaskan Bush People -- the Rise of the Grandbabies!" Ok, I should be ashamed of myself. :)
  17. Great blog entry again, realityobserver. As for the chemo, maybe they couldn't start it right away because Ami didn't weigh enough(?) I think they said she had to be above 95lbs or so. She definitely looked very frail and weak. So I don't get why they are taking her on that silly road trip to Colorado for Browntown, part deux. Another dumb segment was Noah-a-lot and his broken down Camaro. Sorry No-Uh, it did NOT get 180 degrees inside your car. If it were that hot, it would do a heck of a lot more than melt one of your boots. Maybe he felt it was so hot because his pants were on fire from lying so much on this show. ;) I did tune in to see Snowy say something to the effect of, "Most people think bears are really dangerous creatures..." Yes, they are. Especially just after they wake up after hibernation. Most bears I know aren't tranquilized by producers like the ones depicted on your fake show. Season finale coming up next week? Good. Because they have milked as much as possible out of this thing.
  18. Thanks once again, RO. Appreciated the review. I laughed pretty much throughout while reading it. I am sure it was more entertaining than the actual show was. I was in a meeting and during the episode and when I got home, I didn't bother watching the replay. Looks like I sure didn't miss much. With all the crazy editing by those Editing Hyena's back at Discovery, it's like they aren't even trying anymore to paint a coherent timeline of events. Pretty much like they are just throwing a bunch of old footage together along with some shots of them in "the present" and not even worrying about continuity. And from what Realityobserver wrote in his blog, sounds like even Rainy doesn't seem to care about the show anymore. Pretty much following Bam and Gabe checking out of the show several episodes before. But I'm sure all aren't minding the paychecks they are still able to cash from it. Again, I don't know why they didn't just shelve the show for awhile during Ami's illness. Shows go on hiatus all the time. If they wanted to keep some interest alive in the show in the meantime, just run a "Alaskan Bush People" special or two, instead of trying to stitch together a whole season's worth of material. Because it really makes the show even faker than it normally is (if that is entirely possible at this point!)
  19. Maybe I am getting cynical in my middle ageness. But I am wondering if that drama on Sean's ship was manufactured. I mean, it pretty much seemed to come out of nowhere. Yes, cod fishing is a grind. And missing a crewman during said grind has got to be a bit frustrating. But as was mentioned earlier, it usually isn't Zack that's talking smack. Usually that is Nick's department. So it makes me wonder since things were going so well on Sean's boat that they decided to spice things up a bit and have some sort of drama on there for a change. Especially since the Northwestern was pretty much parked during the entire episode. And no Wizard or Time Bandit. Or Saga (which probably is a good thing!) Very little footage too from Wild Bill's vessel too. In the event this wasn't some kind of made up drama, good on Zack for realizing he was a jerk and apologizing. Great to see Sean standing up for his crewman too.
  20. Not optimistic either about the new character. And I know nothing about Maria Bello. Still will give her and the character a chance. Still, they have so many characters with the team already. Don't know why they just make that sort of character re-occurring.
  21. Bear racing a shark and then getting gobbled up by said shark? Hmm...how to describe that.. Now what is that word I am looking for!? Hmm... Oh yeah, it would be so ........EXTREME! Knowing Disco, it would just be a CGI shark anyway. That seems to be the way they roll. Which does give me an idea. Since poor Ami is sick and that is I'm sure is the reason why Discovery is basically doing clip shows and all. Why not just have the entire Browntown clan be CGI rendered? They are all basically just fake characters in a fake homestead anyway. So just CGI render everybody and the awesomeness of the Browntown cult can continue their extreme ways! ;)
  22. Just saw that myself on another forum. So sad. :( Preston was basically the only reason why I could watch Eustace ("Useless") segments. Preston really seemed like a nice guy and a gentle soul. Outside of maybe Tom and Nancy, he was my favorite personality on the show. Much too young to leave us. RIP, Preston. :(
  23. Great recap again, realityobserver! Admittedly I only saw bits and pieces of this patchwork episode myself. So will only comment on what I actually did see. I tune in and see Matt and Kenny the Extra. They're both just talking and reminiscing. Bo-ring. So, I tune out for a little bit. Then after awhile of watching (bad) baseball, I tune back into the show. I see where Kenny is almost in hysterics, crying about missing Matt and the rest of the cult. I almost expected him to say, "I just can't quit you, man!" Time to change the channel again...click! After some more bad baseball, I tune back into the Browntown follies. Bear and the girls are trying to take down the fabulous wind turbine thingie. Once again, they stupidly go at it in a haphazard manner and the thing falls to the ground once again. But miracle upon miracles, it's supposedly undamaged. Hard to damage a pile of junk, I s'pose. <CLICK!> When I land on Discovery again, I see the (apparent) reenactment of that explosion which injured Matt. The show is claiming it happened while he was all by his lonesome in Browntown. Didn't it actually happen in his apartment (shhh!) in Hoonah? And then the show claims the explosion happened from gunpowder from some sort of anti-bear IED or something. Whaaa? That was enough for me for one week. <click>
  24. Sad to see him retire, if that is what's going to happen now. But truthfully, he should have hung 'em up after last year. He should not have been going fishing after just a year after suffering that heart attack. And I think he should have just said, "Nope, that's it...my health is more important than going crabbing." It's not just about him and his brothers and crew any longer. He has kids and grandchildren who want to see their dad/grandpa to be with them and in their lives for as long as possible. Sig should not be risking all that just to got out and fish for another season again. And he definitely should stop that smoking thing as well.
  25. At least this time DISCO pretty much said this would be a clip show. Even though it's supposedly another "special" episode of the show. Thanks realityobserver once again. Appreciated the review -- since I had no desire at all to tune into that clipshow crapfest. Sounds like we who didn't see it didn't miss much. Except more bullshittery, apparently.
