  1. Yeah, I'm wracking my brain and I can't think of anyone who was more than a couple of years out of their teens. Ashley Puzemis was 23 when she started playing Holly. Maybe that's why it's so jarring with New Tate.
  2. They were pretending they were together so that Harris would get pissed off and back off on hovering around Ava as they were trafficking drugs, but it didn't work. Eventually they just went and had sex.
  3. I get the reason why the show doesn't display singing chops as much as they did in the Last Chance Blast Days when they actually had the budget to license pop music, but yeah- it would be easy to let Tate show off his karate skills.
  4. To put this in perspective, I was 11 years old in the summer of 1997. This is when Kristen was parading Baby EJ around as John's. By 2006, I was 20 years old and EJ was at least 26-27.
  5. With all the jokes about how old New Tate is, it makes me wonder- who was the oldest Salem "Teen"? Any guys over 30 playing a teen character? We did have a 29-year old Peter Reckell playing Bo, but his character was meant to be like 21 so he wouldn't count. I also don't think Austin was actually a teenager when he showed up, but early 20's. I could be wrong on Austin, though. But if I'm remembering right, he was a 21-year old hanging out with the teen characters, similar to Brady in the early 2000's.
  6. I really hope it's for her scenes where she reveals that she knew about Leo and Dimitri. That was gold, and it was a great closing arc for her character.
  7. That monologue kind of illustrated to me that Scott Foley just isn't good of an actor despite Neve Campbell really trying to elevate that scene. Scream 3 in my opinion was hampered by two fundamental problems- forced rewrites because of the Columbine shootings happening just before they started production, and the Ghostface being played by an actor that just wasn't that good. Especially with that storyline of there only being one Ghostface- you needed to have a Ghostface that could bring the pathos, and I don't think Scott Foley did. I still love that reveal but I kind of wish they had cast Matt Keeslar instead as Roman Bridger. Or hell, Patrick Dempsey might have been too old but I bet he could have brought it. (He kind of does later on in the movie
  8. I basically took the whole thing as the Ukraine/Russian war transferred to the United States. (I did some research and it looks like they began principal photography as the war in Ukraine started, and I thought a lot of the visuals seemed to match a lot about what was coming on tv at the time.) I was semi-spoiled so I knew one of the two women were going to die, but it was still a pretty shocking moment when it finally happened.
  9. Okay, I'm going to give wardrobe props for putting Johnny and Chanel in 1970's winter clothing as a nod to Doug and Julie's hey day as a super couple.
  10. I remember when he first showed up with that nervous laugh I was really unsure about him, but he's really made the role his own.
  11. If we're lucky, this show will decide to utilize his karate skills. That could be awesome. This dude should have been a Power Ranger. I do wonder if the person posting about Tate is someone that has a thing for Holly. That could be interesting.
  12. I'm assuming they're going to have her look like Gabi because Gabi is in the show more often than Will. Although this talk is reminding me of that really bad dye job they gave to Kate Mansi the first few years she played Abigail. There were times it looked nearly orange.
  13. Leo Howard was a Disney Boy, so I think those acting vibes are what you're picking up on. There's a certain personality/acting type that Disney goes for, and you can usually still see it in former Disney stars even after they grow up. I'm really hoping the actor's karate skills come into play at some point. If Ron feels like ripping off Cobra Kai I wouldn't be mad, honestly. Like say some evil dojo tries to take over Salem High. I also agree about Zac Tinker. His vibe was just so different from Freddy's, but I wound up really loving his version of Sonny. I'm just going to roll with this Tate. I also just have a soft spot for former child stars trying to make it as adults because the horror stories are just so bad. (Well, for awhile, anyway. I do thinks soaps mean you need to settle in pretty damn quick or you're gone.)
  14. I'm just clinging on to the hope that Holly being seen by lockers means that we're finally going to get some other teen characters. This is annoying the shit out of me. Even JJ's teen scene had more than just him and Paige.
  15. Isn't Josh Griffith the one obsessed with teen rape storylines? Faith Newman should be terrified.
  16. I'm going to give this guy a chance, mainly because I have a soft spot for former child stars who are trying to have a career as an adult. Although I hope he doesn't try to go too hard to "seem" young. I remember way back in the day on All My Children they tried casting this much older woman for someone in the Bianca era teen scene and she tried way too hard with the "I'm a cute and peppy teenager!" thing. I don't think she ever toned it down and I think her character was gone pretty quickly. I'm going to guess Leo Howard probably got the part because his wife/fiancé was doing Temp Sloan and knew that Jamie Mann was leaving. They have a tendency to move pretty quick- I remember Casey got cast pretty quick as soon as Chandler was leaving to finish college. (So basically the same reason, although Jamie Mann wasn't nearly as enmeshed in the show as Chandler was.) These episodes would have been filmed in October, so I'm wondering if Jamie Mann was trying to give them a head's up that he wanted to leave and probably could have stayed through December (which would have translated to him being filmed through June) or he asked to leave early. It does feel a little abrupt- they could have made the switch while Tate was off-screen for a bit. In any event, I'll miss Jamie Mann's adorable puppy dog self! I wish him the best.
  17. I was looking up New Tate and here's an interview he did when he was 16-ish. Adorable! I really want to give this guy a chance because I've always got a soft spot for child stars trying to transition into adulthood and keep a career going past their sell-by date. It's not easy, and there are so many horror stories.
  18. New Tate has karate skills. This makes me hope Ron decides to rip off Cobra Kai. Like some evil dogo sets up shop at Salem High, and it's up to Tate to save the school from the Cobra Kai's. Or, em...Venom Fangs?
  19. This was a 2019 storyline. Evan was a guy who showed up as a nanny for David, Jordan Ridgeway's son that Rafe was looking after. Evan eventually starts a flirtation with Sonny and then it's revealed that Evan is really David's father. He goes nutso. Later on we learn that he is actually Orpheus's son Christian.
  20. Call me cray cray, but I think this new Tate could have made a good Christian/Evan, at least the beginning when he was pretending to be sane.
  21. It's disappointing though, because she was actually quite good in her audition tape where it seemed like they were going to write Ciara as a bit of a flirt and a little bit like Teen Erica. What they did instead didn't do her any favors. Allie technically wasn't a teen (although the actress playing her was 19) and I thought they made nearly the same exact mistakes they made with OG Teen Ciara. However, in her case, she did have pairings that people seemed to be rooting for. I did think towards the end of her year on the show, when they did the Halloween possession storyline, Lindsey Arnold really came into her own and actually looked like she was having fun. Back to the 2015 teen scene...man, it was such a waste to destroy Chase's character like that. But it was Josh Griffith running the show then so of course there has to be a teen rape. It was frustrating because there were some really good ingredients to that teen scene (especially Olivia Rose Keegan) and it had potential, but alas.
