But don’t you know the best cure for marriage woes is lots of prayer and another precious baby? 🙄🤪
-
Hardly a surprise. I wonder how far along she is? In the photos there was not much evidence of a bump but they could be older photos. She tends to wait until she is further along to announce- but last year’s baby is only 14 months old. 😬 I have two brothers who are 11 months apart but they were born in the early 60’s and the result of NFP. My devoutly Catholic mother did eventually go on the pill despite the Church’s stance. i just don’t understand why anyone would willingly put themselves through back to back pregnancies in this day and age. At least Whitney and even Erin space them out a bit.

Carlin and Evan: But Mostly Carlin!

No doubt this is true but also Josie seems to understand that taking the girls to work with her is not conducive to being productive. She seems to have understood this from day one and was most likely proactive in making an arrangement with Michael before Carlin had Layla. Tori never seemed to have any desire to work outside the home and so her babysitting needs are only occasional. -

I am guessing that Josie pays Michael to watch her girls. So they are always at the head of the line and she watches other nieces and nephews as time permits. -

@Heathen: Have you tried the Tazo Skinny Chai Concentrate? Less sugar than regular but no artificial sweeteners. That’s what I buy for home and I honestly can’t tell the difference. As much as I love my chai i always get wigged out by the sugar content, though not enough to stop drinking them. 😉Starbucks had a Lightly Sweet Chai Latte a few years back but they only carried it for a few months. I even emailed them about it because it was so disappointed when they discontinued it. Back on topic, does Carlin even drink coffee? All I have ever seen her drink are those pink drinks. If it’s only Evan trying the different pumpkin spice drinks the vlog will be even dumber and more insufferable. 🙄 -

I am not a coffee drinker but Starbucks Chai Tea Lattes are my guilty pleasure. Hot in the colder months and iced in the summer. I tried the Pumpkin Chai Iced Latte and it was too sweet for my taste. I have not watched a Stewart Family vlog in almost a year. But I can only imagine the “too much caffeine” craziness that will ensue. 🤪 It’s their version of Jell-O shots or beer pong I guess. 🙄 -

I’m guessing it’s a coffee taste test. Some of the cups are not from Starbucks. Reaching for content much? 🙄 -
Trace and Lydia: Can She Become a Citizen Now?

Looks like a state representative (Rick Eldridge from district 10, just to the north east of Knoxville) has written to ICE asking to let the family stay. I’m sure they would have preferred to have a congressman or senator but so far that is not happening. -

I do not recall how it was when Zoey was the youngest, but I don’t think she was doted on like Maci was. Poor little girl. I can’t imagine how much she wants attention if she likes the hospital. I had my appendix out when I was 8. They kept me in for a week and I was homesick and could not get home fast enough. I had 3 younger brothers at home at the time but I still probably got more attention than poor Zoey. -

The Romeikes were featured on a segment on Fox News this weekend. How surprising! 🙄 I did not see it, but they are talking about it on Reddit. -

Dumb question, but as I understand it the Romeikes do not have current German passports. How can they self deport without valid travel documents? -

I wonder if there have been some panicked phone calls to Alyssa asking if her father-in-law the congressman can help. The two youngest are US citizens but if the parents did get them German citizenship when they were born then maybe they would have had another few years until the last one turned 18. I have zero sympathy for these folks but you would think they would have tried other options instead of just hoping they would fly under the radar. As I understand it they pretty much knew the free ride would be over once the youngest German born child turned 18. You would think they would have been a bit more proactive. -

They definitely cannot get US passports. You have to be a citizen for that. I have renewed my Canadian passport from the US. Not sure if Germany lets their citizens renew from abroad. -
A Swiffer would only get caught on those pine cones. The only way to clean that would be with those cans of compressed air people use for keyboards. I guess Keith gets caught up in the vision and just doesn’t think about the practical aspects of things.

The only way he would meet boys his age is at church. He does seem like a quiet, shy child and I do wonder if his unaddressed speech issues are making him clam up even more. What a sad existence those kids seem to have. My granddaughter just started kindergarten and she was so excited about it. I can’t imagine her being as isolated as Erin’s kids. -

Thank you for the clarification @RebeccatheWriter. We were fortunate to have company attorneys working on our case when we came 32 years ago so we just provided the information requested. We joked that I was “baggage” because I was not allowed to work while I had my visa. But after reading your post I do remember having to go back to the US consulate in Montreal to get our green card applications processed 2 years after we originally moved. We received the cards 6 months later. Our applications were for 2 adults and 2 children. When we arrived at the consulate with 3 children the agent was visibly taken aback until we showed her our youngest’s US birth certificate. Funny how the now adult Romeike children could be considered dreamers. Too bad the people they chose to align themselves with are fighting against that legislation.- 575 replies

So it turns out that the part of Germany that the Romeikes called home was in the Black Forest on the Swiss border. Interestingly it is also one of the regions of the country with the highest percentage of migrant population (28%). I have to wonder if that factored into their desire to homeschool and to ultimately leave the country? Also wonder if Trace and Lydia were a bit lax about applying for her marriage visa or if her family asked them to delay because they were afraid filing the application would put them back in the spotlight? Given their reluctance to get proper contractor licenses it would not surprise me if Trace thought that immigration documents did not apply to them either. ETA: It doesn’t make sense when they could have just moved to another EU country which allows homeschooling. There would have been no hurdles or pesky immigration issues. But they wanted to come to the US. Mr Romeike is a piano tuner and gives music lessons. Hardly the skills that would push him up in the immigration line. But if you claim asylum you can skip the line. Too bad it is the flimsiest claim for asylum. 🙄 -

This was the case for my husband. He had a PhD in Chemistry and multiple patents in his industry. Still, the stack of paperwork he had to submit for an inter-company transfer was huge. The company basically had to prove that he was not taking a job away from an American citizen. I was not allowed to work until we got our green cards. I knew that Lydia’s family came to the US claiming asylum, but did they really think the Supreme Court would take their case? Talk about an inflated sense of self-worth. I checked and private Christian schools do exist in Germany though there are not as common as they are here. If they didn’t want to pay or there wasn’t a private school nearby that is hardly a reason to claim asylum. -

Wouldn’t Lydia being married to a US citizen qualify her for some sort of visa? There are so many stories of people who marry to stay in the country but this is a legitimate marriage. We came to the US when my husband was transferred by his company. The company lawyers got him an L1 visa and helped us with our green card applications. We applied for citizenship a year before the green cards were due to be renewed. My two oldest kids were naturalized when their father was, my youngest was born in the US and he automatically qualified for Canadian citizenship through me. But it sounds like Lydia’s family never followed up and hoped that they would continue to fly under the radar. -

Watching the kids arrange the throw pillows “just so” was sad. I am all for kids having chores and my kids did have to pick up their toys every night and make their beds in the morning, but it wasn’t anywhere near that level. Erin’s baby voice reminds me of Michelle Duggar. I wonder if she yells at the kids when no one is listening. Whenever I watch these two I get the impression that their overhyping of “the simple life” is just a way of coping with the fact that things haven’t quite turned out as they would have liked. Watching the younger siblings with houses, pools, etc must be a bitter pill to swallow for the spoiled princess who never had to do as much sister-momming or chores because she was “so talented”. -
Brick is more common in Texas because it is manufactured there, so transport costs are lower. I lived in the DFW area from 1996- 1999, and a lot of these homes look very familiar to me. The other thing which was common in new builds 25-30 years ago was wallpaper in the kitchens and main baths. Haven’t seen any evidence of that on the show. I like Jen. She has a certain style but so do all of the HGTV personalities. I do like how she sprinkles in some tips during the show.

Reality is going to hit hard. Despite being surrounded by nieces and nephews I really don’t think these two have the slightest clue about having a newborn. That said, it’s 7pm in Knoxville and not a peep. I hope every thing is ok. If the little guy has any issues they will not handle it well I think. -

If they do split up at least her parents will be supportive. I have a feeling they weren’t thrilled with their son-in-law to begin with. -

I don’t think there is such a thing as a discount marriage certificate. It’s a county issued document and the same price for everyone. Maybe they meant they got a discount on the counseling?
