  1. I was actually struggling to come up with the words, but you did it perfectly. Yes, adopting Carly out was the best thing these boneheads did, but Tyler wasn't cool to threaten Catelynn like he did. Sure, it led to a good outcome (for Carly, anyway), but it shouldn't have come down to that. If he were a really supportive partner, he would've just reminded Cate of all the reasons why adoption was the best choice when she was having second thoughts. None of this "The baby goes or I do" crap. I think that's why Cate tries to come up with all these grand reasons for the real reason she gave up Carly. She definitely knows she would've kept Carly had Tyler not pressured her so much even if it meant raising her child in a filthy, chaotic environment fraught with emotional abuse, drug addiction, and alcoholism. So she says things like, "We gave Carly up so we could go to college and get good careers" because she thinks it's a better justification. Her admitting a few years ago that she ultimately went through with the adoption so Tyler wouldn't leave her was telling. She knew he would've abandoned her and their child if she chose to parent after all. She knew he wasn't trustworthy or reliable, and he still isn't seven years later. No wonder she's so depressed.
  2. I've commented a couple times on the FB page, but I don't think they're going to listen to reason. i will say that I think more people aren't as enamored with C&T now like they were when the show first started six years ago; there were many comments criticizing Tyler, more so than there would've been had this happened when the show was still new. It's not nearly enough to drive back the crazy fans, but I get the vibe that more and more viewers aren't impressed with Tyler's antics. It's just another sign that this franchise has gotten stale and MTV needs to pull the plug permanently instead of reviving this show's corpse every few years.
  3. Maybe that's why Tyler is wearing a beanie in tonight's episode; he finally got wind of how stupid his hairstyle looks.
  4. Catelynn and Tyler have really changed the story on why they adopted Carly out several times. First it was because Butch and April provided an abusive, dysfunctional environment that was in no way appropriate for a baby. Then they said they gave her up so they could go to college and get great careers. Then Tyler said that they gave Carly up so they could be regular teenagers again. Then Cate said she gave Carly up to keep Tyler around. Then he said in the recent "Being Butch" special that he gave Carly up because Butch never taught him how to be a good father. It's like they have to have some grand, important, special reason for choosing to give up their firstborn. Their original reason---"We live in a shitty environment and are way too young to be parents"---doesn't seem to cut it anymore. Everybody who watched their first episode knows they were completely justified in not wanting to keep Carly, but Catelynn and Tyler don't seem to think so given that they keep adding reasons for giving her up. I don't know if it's regret pushing them or the fact that they've been hailed as these selfless heroes since they were sixteen. Either way, it's weird.
  5. That's a good point. I also think the reason why Tyler's been put on a pedestal is because of the adoption. Right from the get-go, he's been treated as the best father on the franchise for giving up his child when he was only a teenager. I don't think it really matters what he looks like; for the past seven years, MTV's been acting like he's boyfriend of the century for sticking by Cate after they adopted Carly out. Maybe his more effeminate qualities help, but I think he was always going to be the franchise's golden boyfriend no matter what, which makes it better when he had that twitter meltdown over people calling him out for calling Catelynn a heifer. He truly thinks he's untouchable, but now that his uglier moments are actually being shown on TV, it's becoming obvious that this isn't the case. I just wonder about the heinous shit he's said and done that didn't make the cut.
  6. Nah, I don't think Nova being a girl had anything to do with Carly. If that were the case, Tyler would have been all over it so he could get another chance to look like a selfless birth father who's still mindful of the child he placed. He was straight-up pissed Nova was a girl.
  7. I think I read on Reddit that Catelynn and Tyler said that they play up the adoption angle on the show because it's always been their main storyline, and that they don't talk about Carly nearly as much as they do when they're on camera. If that was the case, then why is Tyler throwing a hissy-fit over not being able to talk about Carly's family on the show? Why is he saying that he's totally prepared to walk away from Carly if he can't discuss her publicly? Then you have Catelynn practically having a meltdown because she realizes that if Brandon and Teresa got sick of Tyler and finally cut him off, they'll most likely cut Cate loose, too, since she's married to him. I think it's likely that Cate probably isn't as focused on Carly as Tyler is. I think she wants to move on terms of discussing Carly so much and just focus on herself and her family. Then you have Tyler lording his genetic connection to Carly like that's what really makes a father. He seems so genuinely pissed-off, and I don't think he's nearly a good enough actor for it to be a performance. I think he really thinks he can call the shots when it comes to Carly and is angry that Brandon and Teresa won't comply. I agree with everyone's posts that Carly, at seven, probably doesn't really think too much about Catelynn or Tyler. Last season, Tyler was telling everybody, "She called me Daddy! She talks about me all the time!" Yeah, I doubt that. I'm sure Carly does mention C&T occasionally, and that she gets excited when she goes to visit them, but Tyler's full of shit. It's like he can't fathom that this little girl has a life completely independent of him and his backwards family. Carly already knows that C&T are her birth parents and Nova is her younger sister, but that doesn't mean there's some close connection right now or that Carly is going to choose her bio-family over the parents who have been raising her since day one. Tyler totally wants to coparent her, but that's not what adoption is about. I know that Bethany misled him and Cate about what to expect, but it's been seven years and Brandon and Teresa have been slowly reducing contact. There's no excuse for Tyler to get so angry with them, especially when Teresa told him point-blank that they would have more contact if it weren't for the show.
  8. I heard that the so-called acting teacher was some sleazy dude who thought Tyler was a twink and was scouting him out for some questionable films. I'm not sure how true that is. The whole New Orleans saga is a pretty bizarre footnote in C&T's history, though. Anyway, I never really thought that Tyler is gay. I think he's just naturally effeminate. He was also raised in a house dominated by women with a father in and out of prison and possibly no real male role models for him to look up to. I'm not trying to stereotype people or say that all men raised by single moms are going to turn out like, well, Tyler. But I still remember how excited he got when he took Kim to the salon to get a new haircut. I mean, he was absolutely falling over himself over that stupid haircut. Meanwhile, he would push Cate away whenever she tried to get physical and barely react to her presence except with sheer annoyance and boredom. That's why I was sort of surprised when he got upset over Nova being a girl. You'd think raising a daughter would right up his alley, but he still insisted on having a boy because apparently he can be a better father than Butch if he has a son? #TylerLogic
  9. Man, who could forget Catelynn's helmet-hair, the giant flowers she wore on the side of her head, the rainbow shirt and matching eyeshadow, and maternity tops even when she wasn't pregnant? Cate had pretty questionable style back in the day, but at least she put herself together and worked on her appearance. Now she's always wearing that zebra hoodie, her hair is always hanging in that greasy, limp ponytail, and her face is covered with open oozing sores. It's sad that she's fallen down so hard. Not that a woman's physical appearance is or should be the most important aspect about her, but she used to try back in the day. I totally agree that Tyler isn't attracted to her and hasn't been for a long time even before her depression set in. If "Teen Mom" hadn't happened, he would've broken up with her months after Carly's adoption. I also personally think that Tyler wouldn't have kept up that much contact with B&T if not for the show, or at least wouldn't press for it so hard like he's doing now.
  10. I was under the impression that this episode will air Sunday and then a brand-new episode will air Monday. MTV did the same thing with the TM2 girls a few months back. I think they know that this franchise is on its last legs, and may be airing more episodes than usual to get the season done faster.
  11. She probably doesn't want to admit that she knew she was pregnant because she was shown drinking alcohol several times during her pregnancy. She was showing last season and wearing huge coats and shirts in an effort to hide it; she was also filmed drinking beer and margaritas. Maci really did put herself in a corner. If she claims that she didn't know she was pregnant, then she looks like a total idiot. But if she admits that she hid her pregnancy for whatever reason, then she's admitting that she knowingly drank during at least the first trimester and put her child at risk for FAS. By the way, has anybody seen any photos of Maverick yet? I don't keep up with these peoples' social media or the tabloids, so I have no idea if anybody really knows what he looks like or if his dumbass parents are hiding him.
  12. I personally think she made that comment about having a large family as a passive-aggressive swipe at Tyler for his heifer insult. Cate will never call Ty out for his crap, but she knows what bothers him and uses it whenever he bugs her. I think back to all those times when Tyler had issue with her weight and Catelynn responded by plopping herself down in his lap and practically smothering him. She'll do that instead of straight-up talking to him. They have a very unhealthy marriage; the lack of clear communication is only the tip of the iceberg for these two.
  13. Small changes are where it's all at. When I was unhappy with some weight gain in the past, I would make only small changes to my diet. Instead of having two slices of pizza for dinner, I would just eat one. Instead of beef hot dogs, I would eat turkey. My family exchanged white bread for wheat bread (though I barely eat bread as it is). I would drink water before and during meals instead of juice. I cut out excess snacks and soda. I ate yogurt a lot since it helps you burn off calories. It was all small stuff, but it helped me lose some weight and made me feel better to boot. I'm also pretty physically active at my job, so that helped me a lot, too. Unfortunately, I've been slacking off this summer, but I plan on getting back into the swing of things soon. That's what Catelynn needs to do. Instead of making these huge, sudden changes to her diet, she needs to take baby steps. She also needs to start exercising, even if it's just walking around her neighborhood for thirty to forty minutes a day. It would really do her a world of good. However, if she tries changing her diet all at once, she'll probably get overwhelmed and give up out of frustration. Tyler pushing her to lose weight as quickly as possible isn't helping. It's a slow process, but it can work a lot better if she doesn't bite off more than she can chew (pun certainly not intended).
  14. You're spot-on with the idea that Carly is a mythology to Cate and Ty. You can count the amount of times they've actually physically seen her on two hands. To them, she's the perfect child because they've had no hand in raising her or really have anything to do with her life. I think they think that they're these super-important figures in Carly's life when the truth is probably that she doesn't really think about them all that much until she receives gifts from them or meets with them. She knows C&T are her birth parents, she knows that Nova is her bio sister, and she clearly cares about them. But she's also seven, and she probably gets just as excited when B&T remind her to start writing her Christmas list for Santa Claus. This isn't to minimize C&T's decision to place Carly, but they (especially Tyler) seem to really overplay how much impact they have on her when she's still so young. Tyler once said that Carly would be a "sad little girl" if B&T decide to close the adoption. He thinks that Carly will be depressed if she stops seeing him and Cate. Chances are, she might be at first, but she might also just move on and not think about it so much because, again, she's seven. It sounds like B&T are equipped to deal with the possible emotional fall-out if they cut off contact with C&T, and help Carly understand why she's not seeing them anymore. I don't think it'll be too hard. They've already restricted so much contact. I think she'll be okay if she stops vising her birth parents for a few years. It'll also probably be for the best because who wants Tyler around their daughter, even if it's only for a few days a year, especially when he's so disrespectful and angry all the time? I sure wouldn't.
  15. Maybe it's the name of one of the many women he impregnated and then dumped.
  16. I definitely agree that Tyler plays a major role in Cate's depression and anxiety. She's always walking on broken glass around him, like she's terrified that he'll start berating her at any moment. Ever since he briefly broke up with her over that text message BS a few years back, she's desperate to appease him and keep him happy as long as it means he won't leave her. The sad thing is, I think Cate will put up with Tyler's crap as long as he'll stay with her in the end. She'll always justify his horrible treatment of her. She even defended his heifer comment on twitter, claiming it was okay because they've been together for a decade and that sort of stuff is to be expected from couples who've been together for so long. She'll literally say whatever it takes to keep Tyler happy even at her own expense. I also think she stays with him to justify giving Carly up. Cate admitted that she ultimately placed Carly so that she wouldn't end up a single mother; if she and Tyler ever broke up, then Cate might think she gave Carly up for nothing. As for the weed stuff, I think Cate would do best if she quit smoking it for now. She just learned that it counteracts her antidepressents and I think---since she's already unmotivated and depressed---smoking weed several times a day could make her even more unmotivated and depressed. Just my two cents. Edited to add: MTV.com just posted a sneak peek of Sunday's episode and Tyler once again is having issues with Brandon and Teresa. This time, he's saying that he'll totally risk his relationship with Carly so he can talk about the adoption on camera and other things B&T have asked him not to discuss publicly. Catelynn is near tears and reminds Tyler that she'll be affected, too, if B&T decide to cut Tyler out completely. Does he care? No, he just says, "I'm not being selfish." What a douche. At this point, it almost seems like he's deliberately trying to sabotage his relationship with Brandon and Teresa. I'm not sure why. Maybe so he can look like a martyr for ~birth parents' rights~? Or maybe he doesn't want to deal with them anymore and is trying to end contact in a way that makes him look like the victim? I have no idea how this little weasel's mind works.
  17. I'm pretty sure they said in their book that they were asked to be on the show because the producers wanted to feature at least one adoption story. True, there are other aspects of their story that were chaotic and compelling, but they initially only got onto "16 and Pregnant" because they were giving Carly up. I think they discussed it in their awful memoir.
  18. Speaking of Maci's pregnancy...has she posted any pictures of her latest miracle child yet? I know people were speculating whether or not he has FAS due to her drinking, but I haven't seen any trace of him besides an Instagram photo that didn't show Maverick's face.
  19. Watching this episode, I was actually surprised that neither Catelynn or Tyler really talked about the adoption. I'm sure placing Carly and getting no therapy or familial support really messed with Cate's depression further, but I'm glad she's at least acknowledged that her issues started well before she even got pregnant the first time. Now if only she can be truthful about how much Tyler brings her down.
  20. Wait, Tyler cheated on Catelynn? I know he went to New Orleans to be an actor and got himself an acting coach who turned out to be pretty sleazy, but I never heard of him cheating. Anyway, I think it'll take more than Tyler cheating for Cate to break up with him. They've been together for so long and have trauma bonded; she'll forgive him in a heartbeat while most likely blaming herself for driving him to have an affair.
  21. I love how Maci and Taylor just so happened to think that she could be pregnant again and they just so happened to have a pregnancy test in the bathroom and it just so happened to have already been opened which is odd because Maci is the only one in that house who could actually take it. That was some of the worst acting on this show---yes, worse than Farrah's weird whisper-cry. I refuse to believe that Maci had no idea she was pregnant until she was already so far along. She was trying to hide her baby bump last season and at the reunion. She only wanted to admit her pregnancy after Taylor finally proposed to her orange ass. I wonder if she kept drinking last season to keep up appearances until she got her ring? Because if so then she's a POS.
  22. She has a history of pulling that kind of crap. She gained a ton of weight after having Carly, but always tried to blame it on the pregnancy. i mean, there's footage of her eating a ton of unhealthy crap and not getting any kind of exercise. And, yes, Nova was over a year old when this was filmed. I've never been pregnant, so I can't really say how long it should or could take somebody to lose baby weight, but shouldn't she be trying to lose it or making headway? My cousin had trouble losing weight after her daughter's birth and gained some extra pounds because she was eating unhealthy crap, but she eventually lost the weight and is back to her regular size. And she and her husband both work full-time jobs. Cate also lost a lot of weight before she got pregnant again, so she knows she can do it. I think cutting Tyler loose will be the perfect start. We all know he's dead enough weight as is.
  23. I've never once seen Tyler act supportive towards Catelynn. He's always either berated her or took passive-aggressive swipes at her. In yesterday's episode, when Cate told him about the seven points thing, his response was to say, "Good for you! I don't want no heifer for a wife!" First of all, he made it all about himself and what HE wants in their marriage, not what works best for Cate. And instead of calling Catelynn a heifer---which is not okay, regardless of who says it---he should have discussed portion sizes with her. Instead, he straight-up insulted her and she laughed even though you could tell it was killing her on the inside. Break up with him, Cate. It's the best thin you could do for both yourself and your child. Tyler doesn't want a heifer for a wife? Well, who wants Tyler for a father?
  24. Maybe they're like Dale and Nancy Gribble, and Tyler only has sex with Cate on her birthday and Christmas. I really can't see them going at it at all. They seem so sexless when they're together.
