Ok, true believers.  All Night actions are complete.

It appears to be a quiet morning in Shady Grove, USA.  SCOOP recently captured the Rapscallion and Voodoo Lou is heading the prison escort team.  The Mad Scientist's lab has been inactive for a while.  And the Family Man has taken his family on a short vacation down the coast.

**BOOOM**

(so much for a quiet morning...)

The rest of the Dastardly Trio have finished their plans and are now trying to evade capture.  Meanwhile, the other members of SCOOP are attempting to locate and capture at least one of the Trio.

With that, the Day has begun!  No time limit at the moment, but one can and will be added if talks stall out.

That depends on the hero.

Self-Awareness Girl would know, as that's her power.  And if the Role Retriever retrieved the role of a Trio member, they'd know that, but the old Trio member would not know about the switch.

All other Heroes?  They'd need to figure that out based on the talk of the Day.

Okay then, first let's bring up all of the possibilities to this page so I don't make myself nuts going back and forth trying to figure things out.

Which means that the roles and powers for this game are:

  1. The Dastardly Trio go first, in a semi-co-ordinated effort.  They all know at least some of what the others do.
    1. The Temptress (if active) can choose any other player and turn them into another Villain.  She does not get to find out which hero they were in the process.
    2. Dr. Peeker (if active) may secretly look at the role of any other player.
    3. Henchman #7 (if active) is considered part of the Trio, but has no powers.
  2. The Evil-ometer detects villainy nearby (either directly above or below on the list of players (with wrapping)).  Not exactly who, but will know the proximity.  The Dastardly Trio will find out who the Evil-ometer is as she does this.
  3. The Annoying Lad annoys one of their neighbors (either directly above or below on the list of players (with wrapping)), as proof of his heroic identity.  The person "annoyed" will know that they were annoyed, but not which of their neighbors for sure did the annoying.
  4. The Detector uses her high-powered electromagnetic detection field to determine the role of either one other player, or any two of the unclaimed roles.
  5. Role Retriever retrieves the role of another player.  The other player is now the Role Retriever, and the former Retriever can now see their new role (but they do not get to act as that new role.)
  6. Switcheroo may blindly swap the role of any two players other than himself.
  7. Self-Awareness Girl checks her role at the end of the night, so she is aware of who she actually is.

That does leave one role unaccounted for though.  This time, that will be the Innocent Bystander.  As an un-powered citizen, they sleep all night but vote to aid SCOOP in the capture of one of the Dastardlies.

 

As for me, I have some information to report, but nothing that I can state definitively stayed true by the end of the night. 

I was not annoyed during the night, and I am not currently aware of who I might be now.

^ This describes my situation pretty closely, as well.  However, given this is a "One Night" game, we will have to get chatty and divulge things sooner rather than later, however (again) I am not quite ready to do that yet either.  🙂

I will say, I started the night as a member of SCOOP, and I know of a couple of unsafe claims.

Well, I know this: the only roles in the game that could know how I know what I know, are the Detector, the Role Retriever, and Dr. Peeker. One of those is evil.   I am not going to say exactly what I know yet, because I think SCOOP is better served by that info staying secret while I wait for one of the Trio to make a mistake.

Like, say, asking me to out what the safe claims I might know about are.

Also worth noting: A1 has essentially claimed to have started as one of: the Temptress, the Role Retriever, or Switcheroo. Again, one of those is evil.

@MarkHB, I agree with what you're throwing out there. 

Seems like @saoirse is claiming Switcheroo. 

So in that case, if what @aquarian1 is saying is true with

That narrows it down to Role Retriever or Temptress.  I'm thinking @The Crazed Spruce is Role Retriever which made her Temptress. HOWEVER, if she got Switcheroo'd, with either Spruce or you, that makes her likely SCOOP now. 

So if all that makes sense, A1 should feel free to go ahead and start her DL on her former Teammate.

Oh! And as for me, I can confirm that when it was my turn Biz and/or A1 was definitely dastardly trio, and that the trio is aware of who I was when that happened.

I don't think this statement reconciles with Self Awareness Girl unless she's been recruited by the Trio.

It would for sure describe how a trio member would describe me. Trio knows when the Evilometer goes off, and who it is, and all I know is that either A1 or Biz set it off, or BOTH of them set it off.

Of course, it would be a power move to take a shot at claiming to be the Detector when you're Trio and crossing your fingers that it was an unclaimed role.

Nope!  I’m doing a lot of spitballing at the moment. I am sure some of what I’m guessing is wrong, so it’s not going to do me any good to keep guessing without more input elsewhere.

Interesting. Because the way I read it, there are only three people who know someone else's role: The Role Retriever, The Detector, and Dr. Peeker. And since I know you weren't the Role Retriever ('cause that was me), and I know you weren't The Detector ('cause that was Mark), that can only mean that you were Dr. Peeker!

I do think there could still be other shenanigans going on involving Biz, but I’ve been pretty sure @aquarian1 was team bad guy (my evilometer had it at minimum 50/50) and now I’m as confident as I’ll ever be that she’s team good guy now.

I've actually had @The Crazed Spruce higher on my villain board than A1, as I hinted above before the switch reveal.

Yes, and one of them is voting against their interests.  That person is the Temptress.  (I was Dr Peeker).  Some one was tempted, but it is now against my interest to say who. 

ETA: and...  I probably shouldn't have said that last part, but I did and so it must stay.

Actually, the norm for One Night is that everyone votes, period. At least I believe that's the case.

This is correct.  The only exception is if a deadline is in play and someone misses it, and mathematically, their vote won't matter.

But this this few, all votes do matter.  So I'm going to allow just one more hour to see if anyone changes their vote.  After that, I'll call the endgame.

It's been an hour, and there's been no movement on the votes.

Official final tally:

5 to DL MARKHB (TCS, JTMacc, aquarian1, BizBuzz, saoirse),

1 to DL The Crazed Spruce (MarkHB)

So with a vote of 5-1 MarkHB has been captured by the Shady Grove police.

At the unmasking, it is revealed he is

With the capture of one of the Dastardly Trio, the win goes to the members of SCOOP!

The Night went basically as Spruce said.

  • Temptress Biz brought saoirse to the evil side.
  • Dr. Peeker A1 scanned Evilometer JT... just before he detected both of the Trio.
  • Detector Mark detected B and C were the Bystander and the Annoying Lad.
  • Role Retreiver Spruce retreived Mark's Detector role.
  • Switcheroo saorise swapped A1 and Mark, making Players 1-3 all SCOOP members, and 4-6 all part of the Trio.
