Anyone else watch this one on demand yet? I thought it was great in that it had Jackie actually come clean to Antoinette and Frank rather than the same old lies. And I really loved Jackie's face during Grace's speech about Ala-teen--like even with her year of sobriety and losing full custody, she still never stopped to really consider the impact of her addiction.

Not wild about the previews for the next episode though, bleh.

Still trying to figure out what, if anything is up with Antoinette.Roman is still not growing on me. She always looks like she just got hit in the head with a big board.

I thought Jackie was going to end up hospitalized, after Eddie specifically told her not to mix the Suboxone with anything else.

Yes, I thought she was heading towards an overdose. Her behavior was extremely weird. I'm glad Antoinette told her she couldn't fire her and made her come clean.

And it's true that she never really considered the impact it could have on her daughters. It seems Grace's speech hit her hard and might be what makes her unravel. I'm tired of Jackie is so good at taking drugs that no one notices. But I'm not sure where they could go with it. She's already been to rehab and a show about a clean Jackie wouldn't be entertaining. I guess they could kill her (has it been renewed?) or they could have Grace overdose and/or die. That'd be way dark.

Oh god, yes. I have no idea if it's realistic, as I am lucky enough to have never been close to a drug addict. But since day one they have shown her taking so many freaking drugs, and never once anyone around her, including tons of people (cops, doctors, nurses) trained to notice such things, ever noticing she's high. How is that possible!? It seems like a contrivance to explain how a massive junkie is able to keep and somehow be exceptional at her nursing job. I feel like in real life someone like her would have lost her license a looooong time ago.

I can say as someone who was never a junkie, but rather was on very high quantities of morphine (450 mg MSIR every 4 hours, 600mg MS Contin every 12) and fentanyl (1100 mcg every hour) for a legitimate pain disorder, that I was able to take those drugs, function 100% normally, and never become blotto whatsoever. (I had a very unscrupulous doctor who experimented on me and gave me way too much medication.) It is very possible for Jackie to do so as well. It's likely she's taking them not to get high at this point, but rather to stave off withdrawal.

Bingo!

It gets to a point (especially with prescription opiates/narcotics) where you need to do "x" number daily to just stave off withdrawl and to feel 'normal'. Yes, you might get an initial 'buzz' depending on the drug/dose (and, in some ways, it's the feeling 'normal' and knowing you're not going to go into withdrawl becomes the high, if that makes sense).

That said though, in the last scene when she told Frank she had taken seven (I can't remember what drug it was) she was high and really didn't care right at that moment.

I never see the previews of upcoming episodes so I've no idea where they might be going with Jackie now. I'm guessing that maybe back to rehab?

OK, I see what you're saying, but before reaching that point where the high is just staving off withdrawal, during the years before that point, wouldn't she have had visible highs? She took drugs at work all the time. I remember her mentioning that her back hurt in season 1, so if it was true (and it's a big if), maybe then the high was just shutting down the pain? Like Dr House? And anyway, wasn't she high when she was having sex in the bathroom with the dealer guy?

I don't doubt that she can function with that amount of drugs in her system everyday, I just don't think it's possible that she's always been able to control the effects so much that no one in her medical professional entourage (drink!) never noticed anything.

The shot of Falco's face during Grace's speech was amazing. I swear I could see the heat of shame rising off her skin.

Not surprising, but still awesome that the nurse in the other hospital had such solidarity with Zoe. Roman deserves the eyerolls, for sure.

I was hoping that Jackie's face was full of realization during Grace's speech.  She knows Grace isn't the teen speaking on that stage, or at least she isn't with Jackie.  I took it as more of a "OMG, she's as good a liar as I am."  Maybe I was wrong.

I too thought Jackie was going to end up in a medical crisis after mixing oxy with the withdrawal meds. Actually, am kind of disappointed that didn't happen.

I thought it was sweet to see Jackie, Gloria, Coop, and Carrie try to cheer up/help Zoe. Carrie bringing her tissues while crying herself was probably the second time I've liked her since she joined the show. The first time was earlier in the episode when Zoe told her off and Carrie started smiling.

Grace starting the Ala-Teen club at her school while secretly getting high reminded me of some kids I knew in high school who were in Just Say No but drank and partied on the weekends.

I was sure that Jackie was going to go into a coma or wake up puking or something after she took all that oxy. Eddie specifically told her not to mix any drugs with what he gave her.

Although it's been nice seeing Sasha from Bunheads on various shows since ABC Family canceled it, I actually found her the weakest actress of the girls on the show so it's interesting that i keep seeing her pop up. I knew that shoving a purse full of drugs under the mattress was the lamest hiding place ever and that it was just a matter of time before Jackie found her stash.

How much of Jackie running after Frank was sincere and how much of it was her manipulating him again? I felt bad for Eddie when she guilted him into getting her those drugs. She really has no shame.

:D There is more to Butterface than meets the eye. I am kinda rooting for her redemption, now.

Maybe that's what the previews for next week are about.
