I can't believe their pick for tattoo of the day. It just had a wimpy, limp, weak lighting bolt running right through the middle of it. It didn't even look like a lightning bolt. It looked like a thin piece of ribbon waving in the breeze. 

 

Deanna and Sparks both screwed up the same part of the same pose, the back arm turned up. But Sparks only screwed up one side of it. Deanna messed up front and back. The arm looked like a circle. She should have gone home.

This episode was tense!

When it was announced that the coaches would pick their evictees, I was hopeful that, for once, we wouldn't have to listen to Peck and Nunez being biased and ridiculous, but alas. Their dismissal of Anthony's portrait tattoo as having no known proportions because it was fantasy? Bullshit. It was a face with tiger stripes!

DJ so booted his guy because of personal animosity. Who gives a shit about being "coachable" over being an awesome tattooist? All three coaches have different mentoring styles, but all three kind of suck so far.

I think many overachieved on the first episode when the tattoos were smaller and were artist choice. Deanna had a weak tattoo on the weakest episode of Angels. Many expected her to be fodder when she won. The two she has done since her initial challenge match the skill level she demonstrated on Angels. I'm sure others are in the same boat. Give them a subject matter, add in an artistic principle that the judges focus on (proportion, fundamentals), and its overwhelming to them. 

I really disliked DJ last season. It's enjoyable to me to watch him demonstrate why I didn't like him. He's a douche canoe.

I hated almost all the tattoos and I hated most of the attitudes.  Start casting for talent and stop casting for arrogance.

Well I missed this episode and I was bummed at first because the description sounded like it would be a good one....I read exactly five comments and I already know what happened and who went home, so it doesn't sound like I missed much.  What concerns me is the obviously sliding from the first episode....I really hope this season can find its footing!

He is.  And I hope him cutting Sparks for personal reasons comes back to bite him.  HARD.  

I thought Anthony might cut the dude who wouldn't listen but he made the correct cut.  She was out of her league.  Speaking of which...

How does older, ZZ Top lookin' dude keep skating by?  He is NOT good.  24 years of tatooing looks more like 24 months to me.

There is going to be some weird epic return arc.  There has to be.  Just because/to piss us off.  You choose.  There is no way that a volatile situation like that is just going to die.

You could consider watching the first challenge. The three mentors had to tattoo something that would demonstrate proportion.... without a stencil. They drew the design directly on skin. It was really impressive. I thought they were all really nice tattoos. But the judging...

That was ridiculous!!! The mouth was in proportion to the overall face, to the hair, to the nose etc... I still agreed that Steve's was best, but they should have at least considered Anthony's.

I am going to watch as soon as I can, even if I have to catch the rerun next week.  Without a stencil....God, I hope we don't get St. Marq again......I'm looking forward to watching just so I can keep up, I've been slacking on so many shows!

Super disappointed in the female talent displayed this season. First off, I wish that Ryan had been selected as a coach (I get that she was just in Angels) but the bigger issue is that the female competitors seem to be purely fodder. Linzy (now gone) and Amanda are crying 75% of their camera time, Katie likes to argue when everyone is sitting on the couch and it looks like she breaks down crying and argues some more next week, and then Deanna started strong but is now a regular bottom dweller. That's seriously it? Out of the 18 team-selected contestants, what's the best imaginable finish for one of these women right now? 11th? 12th? If that in my opinion. I realize that not every female tattoo artist can be Ryan or Sarah or Tatu Baby caliber, and there's certainly plenty of male cannon fodder as well don't get me wrong, but to have a season shaping up to be a pure dude fest for the second half is a little disappointing given the success of Angels and so many women throughout the show's history.

I watched this episode On Demand and fell asleep halfway through. I watched it again but when this network was Spike they allowed a person to fast forward through the commercials. Paramount does not. I mute commercials when networks do this out of protest but Paramount also tried to make me watch footage of a snow leopard with its leg caught in a steel trap so I had to close my eyes which puts me at high risk of falling asleep again and having to start all over from the beginning again so screw you Paramount, you are off to a bad start.

I liked seeing the team members all tattoo the same subject matter. I don't know why they were so opposed to a hot Hades.

Per usual, I agreed with Dave on the judging. Was Sparks an Ink Master Angels winner? I've lost track again who's left. Surely they will let one of them get far just to validate a season 2 of IMA.

He was probably the best Angels winner. Now the only remaining two from Angels are just Deanna (kept for her looks most likely), and Smug Daniel:

 

...and it seems if they're going to drag one Angel winner to the end to justify the series, it'll be him.

Daniel is so easy on the eyes that I don't mind his smugness. I'd be just fine if he was dragged through the show. But he is arguably one of the more talented artists there three weeks in.
