Louis and Harvey wrangle with new firm dynamics. Mike's latest success brings him unexpected new business. And Rachel's leadership is challenged by an insubordinate associate.

Just an FYI that anyone can create an episode topic if a mod hasn't been around to do it.  (I'm not the mod for Suits, just a viewer.) Of course, it might also mean that the episode was so bad that no one wanted to?  I haven't had a chance to watch anything this week yet personally.

I would write something, but knowing the premise of the show and new to this forum, my head would fucking explode once I started typing what I thought of the side plot of Rachel, the FOURTH YEAR ASSOCIATE, and the BLATANTLY FALSE information the show is telling the audience about paralegals.???????????????It's insulting my intelligence.

I'm only watching to get my Dulé fix.

Aw come on @GHScorpiosRule don't be shy, you're among friends here lol!  I thought the whole episode was stupid, but then that about sums up the entire season thus far.

Well, since you put it that way...

In my experience and every law firm I've worked at, it's HR that does the firing, but then Stephanie was an attorney, so basing my scant knowledge of that, It would be Harvey or Louis who would have fired her. Since, you know, Donna herself insisted she wouldn't accept being an Office Manager-which she is. The only difference now is that she BOUGHT her way to her title. Did they hire a replacement? And so I understood Stephanie's resentment. Since this is a ridiculous show, Stephanie should have just quit.

But my biggest beef is this HUGE LIE that paralegals can specialize in research. No, just NO. Paralegals can specialize in the areas of law, like Corporate, IP, Litigation, but not in one of the core skills that every paralegal learns and hones. Research ain't that hard that associates needed Rachel to do that for them because they couldn't.???????? So making this First Year(?) associate, or one who is just fresh out of Law School be in charge of ones who have been lawyers longer than her? The fact that she was a paralegal for "years" before does not matter, because as Rachel herself said-RESEARCH!!!! was her one and only skill, but one that trumped everything else, which is straight up Bullshit. A word this show likes to use a lot, like shit, and it's so pretentious sounding when they say it.

And finally, no Donna. Harvey did NOT give you your current position whatever it is-you bullied your way into it.

When did Louis turn into a needy, clinging sad sack?

Dulé is the only reason I'm watching this. Because...Dulé.

He's always been this way. But it's gotten worse in the last year or two.

I have a close friend who trained as a paralegal but is a legal secretary now because the firms she's worked for only used them for research. (I think she had visions of being Erin Brockovich, not tied to cubicle/computer 60 hours a week.) So with all the stuff Suits gets wrong, that didn't really jump out at me. ETA: half of what Rachel says goes in one ear and out the other for me so that could be part of it too.

But yeah, the personnel stuff is badly done.  Actually, none of the stories are doing anything for me. Remind me again why they renewed this show?

This is purely speculation but Louis's dependence on his therapist makes me think we're headed for a death and a major meltdown.  Hopefully I'm wrong.

@tessaray, if you'll indulge me, unless it's a very small firm where the lawyers insist on cite-checking the motions, briefs, etc, and filing same, that is the Also the paralegal's core requirement-cite-check, using the Blue Book, which in layman's terms is a book lawyers and paralegals use because it tells you how a case should be written, what information should be there, and it lists it for all states, and even international cases. How they should be formatted, blah blah. And that the case(s) used to make the argument is correct, the quotes used are correct and that case is still valid, meaning it hasn't been overturned. And proofread for grammatical mistakes. That takes a LOT more skill and learning than "RESEARCH!" Plus the paralegals, unlike legal secretaries, can bill the client for this work. Now of course, the lawyer doesn't have to accept whatever suggestions paralegals make and can ignore what the Blue Book says you should do. And hope the judge who reads it also doesn't care, but those are rare cases.

And there's also all the behind the scenes stuff-like assembling and making the exhibits used at trial, making sure deadlines are met, but according to this show, "RESEARCH!" is THE.MOST.IMPORTANT SKILL!??????

So I hope this explains my unwillingness to suspend my disbelief.

And, I didn't believe Donna when she told Rachel she set Stephanie down to help her. I think she did it to flaunt her new power.

And since I also think Harvey's relationship with his ex-shrink is WRONG, and they bore me, I use my fast forward button.

It's sad when this brief discussion is more interesting than the actual show.

And about Dulé - I loved him on Psych, so I was prepared to enjoy his stint but not all that impressed yet.  This thing with him (inadvertently) stealing Harvey from Louis is so tediously junior high.

I really, really hope you are right.  Now that Jessica is gone I hope this show ends with everyone in that office dying.

Why was "I'm Donna!" Dressed in a jumpsuit suited for an "I Dream of Jeannie" funeral?

I can't believe I binge-watched seasons 1 - 5 so I could get to the shitstorm that was season 6, and now this meh of meh.

If the guy who died in prison was up for parole next month, then how could his father's case against the prison already be up against the statute of limitations?  Then Mike walks up to the prison just as the exact three guards he's looking for (and somehow knows what they look like, too) walk out together.  And acting like he did PSL a favor by coming back.  And acting like he's always on the moral high ground, when he wouldn't know the moral high ground if he was dropped from a helicopter.

I hate everything to do with special snowflake Rachel, the first year associate in charge of a fourth year associate.  A jumped-up secretary and a first year associate running the show, what could go wrong?  Neither one of them could manage a sneeze.  Words cannot describe how much I've come to loathe self-important Donna, who doesn't seem to do any actual work.

Yup I am with you on this one. I also binge watched first 5 seasons and after season 6, I cannot believe Mike used to be my favourite character on this show. Now I just fast forward any scenes where there is no Mike or Harvey and I miss Jessica very much. Also it seems they have reduced scenes where Harvey and Mike are actually together or it might be just me getting bored while watching this series.

They seem to be attempting to recreate the Harvey/Mike dynamic with Harvey & Alex (who also has a career-ending secret.)  Same kind of repartee and pop references. Will Mike be leaving?

I do hate to hear Dulé Hill swear like a sailor, though.

This should be another one for the Suits drinking game: someone always seems to be waiting at the exact time and place someone else is going to show up in order to have a confrontation with them. No matter the time of day or night or how unlikely the location.

My favorite is when they ambush opposing counsel at the hot dog stand/bagel shop to hand-deliver a piece of paper that would be delivered by messenger in real life and then threaten them and/or their clients.  I want to see how they list that on their time sheets; I know I would be thrilled to pay my attorney $450 per hour for loitering.

"We're Pearson Specter Litt, and we do all of the shit (that messengers, paralegals, etc. should be doing)!"

So is Rachel out of law school and a full accredited lawyer? Or did I miss something?

Harvey and the psychiatrist have zero chemistry and bore me to tears.

I wish they'd stop making Louis go into rages at the smallest little thing. Maybe he and Alex can bond over cats. I would like him to find some happiness in his life. I had hoped that he and the hot architect would work it out.
