S03.E05: Drop It Like Its Hot

Except for Abe being sad, there was so much hilarity in this episode.

The Shepherd hiding into the car, going into the volcano, followed by the hybrids who apparently don't mind flying right into volcanic heat.

I like the new Jamie, but I reallly like the Mitch/Logan team up, though Logan's mustache still offends.  So much snark, so little time.  Mitch put a dead person's finger in his MOUTH and Logan put a dead person's contact lens/decryptor doohickey from the dead eye to his OWN eye. YUCK.

Jackson going full on mind control with the hybrids;  unfortunately, so can Abigail, but it did give us the gloriously fake shot of the hybrids dragging her away.

Ugh, Jackson's GF is back.  Can't she be eaten?? Have the hybrids eaten anyone this season?

A hybrid spoke Jackson's name, is that a former person in there?

That is the funniest thing I've seen on this show.

Jackson, Abe and Dariela are flying the beacon to Mexico and plan to drop it back into the volcano.
For some reason the plane is having issues, there is an electrical short and Mansdale escapes from his cell in the belly of the plane.  He gets to the car park and tries to get a gun but hears someone coming and hides in the Mustang.  Jackson and Abe put the beacon in the trunk of the Mustang and push the Mustang out the back of the plane and into the volcano -- and the plan works as all the winged hybrids follow the Mustang.

And just as they are pushing the Mustang out of the plan, Jamie tells Mitch that she needs Mansdale.  Whoops !!

How in the hell did Tessa get from Portland to the Yucatan ..... driving ... in 2 days, maybe ?  And just happen to turn on an emergency beacon in the shadow of the hybrid-initiated volcano ?

But how do we know she's a witch ?  I have a laundry list of Monty Python quotes that could apply here.

Jackson's ex-girlfriend had the baby fever, but Oz Senior killed her dream.

Jackson has a dead wife and son, at the age of 19 -- so who was the wife/mother ?  That never came up in the first 2 seasons.

I'm amazed that cell coverage is so awesome in the Yucatan, next to an erupting volcano.

The ash CGI at the top of the screen when Jackson and Tessa get to the witch's village is so bad -- it's literally dots superimposed across the top of the shot, inclduing beside the truck.  WTF ?

And the symbol on the witch's front door matches the funky symbol on the beacon doo-hicky.

Abigail apparently murdered a cab driver, and drove all the way to HUDSON NEW YORK -- and decides to go for a walk in the woods, still bleeding from her gunshot wound.

Jackson and Tessa are led by the witch to see Abendegos -- who turns out to be a tusked hybrid man/gorilla that can talk locked in a trailer guarded by two guys.  And he said Jackson's name.

Mitch and Logan try to prove Jamie's innocence by decrypting a file from the Reiden CEO's tablet -- using the fingerprint from her corpse.  Only it doesn't work since the corpse is cold so Mitch warms up the dead CEO's finger by sucking on it.  Logan gets the pleasure of putting the dead CEO's contact lens in to decrypt the file which doesn't exonerate Jamie but does tell the tale of a failed company that made something called Melvatox B.

Is Melvatox B the new Mother Cell ?

And Reiden is feeding Melvatox B to the kids that were kidnapped for fertility testing ?  Reiden Global really is evil.

After Jackson/Tessa are captured, Jackson calls a herd of lions -- while at the exact same time Abigail manages to control a pack of razorback wolves that is roaming the forests of upstate New York.  How did razorback wolves get to New York ?  Did they run from Ann Arbor, Michigan ?  And the wolves start to drag Abigail off to who knows where.

And Dariela explains to Abe that it is time for divorce -- once everything plays out and they save the world.  But Abe just glosses over that because he has discovered that Clem's baby is the miracle child with the cure for human TX sterility.

Clem gets handed off to 'the Gentleman', and after a sonogram we find out that Clem's baby will be auctioned to the highest bidder, starting at $80 million.

I totally forgot to mention this - Jackson's talking about it and I'm thinking, say what now? James Wolk is very cute but I just could not muster any sympathy here, though he was trying.

Clem going to the "Gentlemen" (and really, I get that it was here first sonogram and all, but she just looked too damn happy seeing it, considering she'd been kidnapped, knocked around and was going up for auction) - anyway, naturally I thought of this

  1. Definitely not AT&T.
  2. Pretty sure it was Clem that was being auctioned off, which, if I'm correct, could mean that the baddies are understandably valuing her for her fertility, but Abe deduces that it is the baby that has unique, human race-saving properties.

Abigail was the character I hated the least this week... Dariela was just a ball of blegh... Jaime was uber smug and calculating.. Tho totally right... I've disliked Clem since I saw her at the end of last season and she's done nothing to change my mind and now she's carrying the new Messiah basically  ( please God let the father be a dude of color... This being CBS tho I'm doubtful)  to be fair Jackson's ex was all right as well... Mitch was just petty and over snarky.. Abe was mad then sad then just moved on to praising Clem and her uber baby.. Jackson was his usual male equivalent of a Mary sue.. And Logan while acting like an adult should have yelled at Mitch and Jaime even more then he did... All said... Loved the episode will be back next week

Logan and Mitch doing their best impression of the bickering Bickersons was great -- topped off by the dead finger sucking.

All the awards to Sophina Brown for not laughing hysterically during the morgue scene. I mean, I'm sure she did, but she managed to play dead long enough to film the scene.

Poor Mansdale; you should have stayed locked up in Jamie's dungeon.

Mitch and Logan make a great snark team. I hope they team up next week, too.

...You're telling me these kids buy that the Melvatronix pills are candy?

Isaac seemed to be smart enough to be speaking in coded messages to Abe and Dariela, but then I was disappointed when it turned out that he was just telling them about what he was swallowing — both physically and mentally.

Line of the night goes to Jaime (after hearing about them pushing the car/Mansdale into a volcano.).. "Of course they did."

That was great. She didn't even seem surprised. Though why would she be, really?

Mitch's method of warming up Leanne's finger was actually fairly typical behaviour for him. It's certainly not the first unsavoury thing he's put in his mouth over the run of the series; he tasted a makeshift anesthetic concoction near the end of season 1 (his rationale was "it's for science") and in season 2, he swallowed some snake poison in order to prove it wasn't harmful to humans. So...par for the course.

But the wink at Logan as he did it...that was perfection. Billy Burke is an absolute treasure.

Jackson, Abe, and Dariela accidentally dropping Mansdale into the volcano with the car was so wrong, but so hilarious.  Especially everyone's response to it.  Basically, everyone's reaction was "Well, that was unfortunate!", like they just broke a vase or something.  Honestly, I was waiting for Jaime to be more upset about the Mustang.

Mitch, I love you, but sometimes your snarky simply crosses into pettiness, and that has to stop, please.  Other then that, the Mitch/Logan pairing was hilarious, complete with Mitch sucking on Leanne's dead finger, in order to use her fingerprint to access the tablet.  Classic Mitch!

I guess I should feel bad about Abe and Dariela, but I kind of don't?

I don't remember them mentioning at all that Jackson used to be married and he lost both his wife and his child.  Weird.

Abigail also has the animals controlling powers Jackson has.  Finale is totally going to be just a big braw between Abigail's Army of Animals vs. Jackson's.... Jamboree of J-Critters?

Clementine has now been taken to some place where she's going to get auction off.  Uh oh?

Despite the title of the episode, where was quite a lack of Snoop Dogg and Pharrell Williams!

Clem is basically just a baby carrier for this dumb storyline, get back to the animal attacks.

If Clem disappears after she has the baby, Dariela skips town, and then Logan and Doctors Abe and Mitch are raising the baby, that could be good—especially if it's not a magical baby.

ETA:
Reasons for these 3 men to take care of the baby:
Logan:  Baby daddy?
Abe: Daddy experience
Mitch: Granddaddy

Sorry, Jackson and his girlfriend do not get the baby just because they lost babies.

Can someone explain how the hybrid buzzards developed the ability to keep up with an Airbus all the way from NYC to Mexico?  Were they hybridized with F-16s?

I am still expecting that the Mustang, although successful in leading The Birds to their doom, somehow hit the edge of the volcano on a steep angle, and not only is Mansdale still around, but he drives the Mustang off the hill to meet Team Yucatan at the witch's trailer park.

On this show, you never know.

Might as well ask how they are able dive from the air and move through solid ground (with no burrowing capability) and manage to trigger a volcanic eruption because of the vibrations from the 2nd set of muscles in their torsos  -- because the hybrid buzzards did that too.

Any questions along that line .... stop - that way madness lies or as an alternative - here be dragons

Dragons, yes!  We need some dragons!  Preferably ones that can cause rivers to run backwards and waterfalls to flow uphill, since the volcano and earthquake concessions are already taken.

Oh, to hear Mitch's snark when it comes to dragons. "Guys, I think we're gonna need a virgin," beat "so, any ideas where to find one?"

And @thuganomics85,  yeah, everyone's "huh. Oopsie" attitude towards Mansdale's death was funny.

Mansdale can show up anywhere in the slightly charred, very dented Mustang, just please make it so!
And maybe after Mansdale explains what happened, Logan says, "Yeah. I survived Jaime injecting me with knockout drugs and then pushing me out of the airplane at 25,000 feet with an unopened parachute, so…" whereupon they high five each other.

I thought the same thing, then there he is, crunching that pill.  Plus yeah, these are older kids, they know it's not candy.  Or maybe they've never seen a pill before, yet they've seen candy?

This is Zoo, I don't know why I'm thinking about this at all.
