starri May 5, 2017 Share May 5, 2017 Here's KIND of a first look. Looks like the friendly people at Marvel Studios may have intervened to get the bootleg teaser wiped from the Internet, but there's at least a cast photo. The girl playing Gert, who I think was on Degrassi, looks more like a half-hearted cosplayer, and Chase isn't blonde enough. Interestingly, the Staff of One appears in Doctor Strange, taken from the Hong Kong Sanctum by an extra credited as Tina Minaru. Different actress, though, because that would have been some epic-level Easter Egging. 1 Link to comment
Fukui San May 6, 2017 Share May 6, 2017 The Black and Asian characters are played by black and Asian actors! I would have put money on that not happening. Good start then. 2 Link to comment
starri July 20, 2017 Share July 20, 2017 They're going to be running earlier than expected. Freeform must like the show. Link to comment
Lantern7 September 5, 2017 Share September 5, 2017 I thought this was a Hulu show. Freeform is where Cloak & Dagger will be playing. If you're coming to New York Comic Con in October, you can get a look at the show on Friday,October 6. Quote Hulu and Marvel Television Present Marvel's Runaways October 06, 2017, 7:45 PM - 9:15 PM Main Stage 1-D Presented by AT&T Marvel’s Runaways makes a fresh landing in New York as Jeph Loeb, Head of Marvel Television, joins the stellar cast and executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage to let you in on some of the secrets and mysteries of the highly-anticipated, new Hulu Original Series, Marvel’s Runaways. You won’t want to miss this fun-filled panel featuring exclusive footage. And be sure to catch Season One of Marvel’s Runaways when it premieres on Hulu, Tuesday, November 21, 2017. I still think Molly should be a CGI character. I mean, if we have a disgustingly adorable Lockjaw over on Inhumans . . . Link to comment
Fukui San October 7, 2017 Share October 7, 2017 Wow. Two reactions. 1) that looks very true to the source and I'm looking forward to it. 2) Does that explain anything at all to someone unfamiliar to the source material? 1 Link to comment
starri October 7, 2017 Share October 7, 2017 I think it gets across "disaffected teenagers discover parents of same sacrificing an innocent to an eldritch horror" okay. Whether it quite gets the real selling points of the story across, like, the actual running...not so much. Plus, you barely see the Staff of One and Karolina glowing. And no Old Lace at all, unless I blinked at the wrong moment. Link to comment
paulvdb October 7, 2017 Share October 7, 2017 The premiere date of November 21 was already mentioned, but I don't think we'd heard yet that we'll get the first three episodes on that date. It is mentioned in the press release for the trailer that was posted on the Futon Critic Link to comment
starri October 7, 2017 Share October 7, 2017 Wait, no. Old Lace is in the trailer, barely. You can see the ring in her nose for like three tenths of a second. Link to comment
starri October 10, 2017 Share October 10, 2017 And the song used is called "Don't Run." A bit on the nose. Link to comment

Lantern7 October 14, 2017 Share October 14, 2017 I liked the former. I think it got remixed/covered in Police Story in the Eighties. The latter's video I will not click, because I am more than physically sick at this point. Link to comment
starri October 27, 2017 Share October 27, 2017 I still want to know how they're getting around Molly's being a mutant. Link to comment
Fukui San October 27, 2017 Share October 27, 2017 Hmmm... looks like they aged up Molly and made her Hispanic. I can see the reasons for both of those choices. Having a diverse LA cast without a representative Latino is kind of odd. I don't even know if they'll ever get to Victor. If being a mutant is totally unusable in the MCU, maybe they'll make Molly an Inhuman. Man, with the way they set up the first reveal Spoiler it seems very obvious that Alex is the traitor assuming that it follows the comics' first storyline. In the comics the kids happen to be there anyway and stumble upon the evildoing. In this version it seems Alex is inviting his school buddies (explaining an older Molly) to his house on the day of the ritual. Link to comment

Cranberry January 4, 2018 Share January 4, 2018 Rumor is that the show has been renewed, but nothing's been officially announced yet. I have no idea how reputable that site is, but I hope they're right. Here's a nice interview with Gregg Sulkin, who is pretty confident the show will be returning (he says he's heard Hulu is happy with it). Link to comment

ElectricBoogaloo August 13, 2018 Share August 13, 2018 (edited) I guess they’re hoping for a lot of Christmas vacation binge watching! ETA: Does that mean we can get individual episode threads for S2? *crosses fingers* Edited August 13, 2018 by ElectricBoogaloo Link to comment
Cranberry August 14, 2018 Share August 14, 2018 Ooh, Netflix style! I don't know if that bodes well for the show's chances of a season three or not, but I will enjoy not having to wait a week between episodes. I felt while watching season one that even though I enjoyed it, it would have worked better as a binge-watch. Link to comment
ElectricBoogaloo August 14, 2018 Share August 14, 2018 I appreciate that they're willing to take a chance on releasing all the episodes at once but I too worry about how that will impact the ratings and the chances at a S3 renewal. Hee, I guess this means I'll be rooting for all the youngens to stay home over break and watch this. You guys don't need to go to those after Christmas sales at the mall, kids! Stay home and watch Runaways! Link to comment
starri October 2, 2018 Share October 2, 2018 I guess they're sticking with Nico/Karolina. I approve. 1 Link to comment
Danny Franks October 3, 2018 Share October 3, 2018 Spoiler I think Nico and Karolina are a couple in the comics now, so that gives the show even more incentive to stick with them. I'm hoping for Victor Mancha to be added to the cast at some point, but it looks unlikely this season. Link to comment

Quote “This isn’t a #MeToo thing,” Scott alleges he responded. “I’m not your employer. It’s not like I can fire you.” Oh, so sexually harassing/assaulting someone is okay as long as you aren't her boss? FFS. Now I hope his ass gets fired. The fact that he doesn't see anything wrong with what he did means I do not feel comfortable having him on set with so many young women. At this point, I'm guessing it's too late to edit him out of the scenes that his character is in but I'd settle for his character (who I didn't like anyway) to be killed off. Quote "I clearly misread the situation during a sex scene on set and have apologized to Sarah,” Pardue, 43, said in a statement provided by his representative, David Shane. “I never intended to offend her in any way and deeply regret my actions and have learned from my behavior." Unless you are shooting actual porn, when is it ever appropriate to put your coworker's hand on your penis? This article details a lot more of the process that the actress went through to try to get something, ANYTHING to happen. 1 Link to comment

Cranberry December 16, 2018 Share December 16, 2018 ‘Runaways’ Season 2 Review: Marvel’s YA Drama Pulls Off One of the Biggest Season-to-Season Improvements Ever "At the end of the series’ 13 episodes, which honestly still could have been cut down to 10, we’re left with a thrilling season that puts Runaways indisputably in the conversation as some of Marvel’s best television work, even if the first season wasn’t exactly your cup of tea. In continuously pushing the boundaries, it also sets up a third season that has the potential to reach even greater heights." (Other reviews I've read aren't quite as effusive as this one, however.) 1 Link to comment
