Bellamy leads his crew into Grounder territory as they search for Octavia. Raven can’t help but notice the deep connection between Finn and Clarke. Meanwhile, flashbacks reveal Bellamy’s and Octavia’s childhood on the Ark.

Another episode of TeenLost...   When are we going to get a flashback to explain Kelly Hu's character ceasing to exist? And another flashback showing the cast finding a hidden cache of conditioner, shampoo, brushes and makeup.  But I will admit, my shriveled, cynical heart is enjoying this show. A few other thoughts-

 

TeenKate- Octavia seems to be shaping up as the resident damsel in distress who insists upon cluelessly "asserting herself" by consistently wandering into danger, thereby causing multiple deaths in the search parties looking to find her.  

 

TeenJuliet- I love that Clarke's solution to her hookup buddy showing up with a spear through is gut is "fix the radio so I can call my mother"... remind me not to show up at her medical clinic.

 

TeenSawyer- spear in the gut, girls throwing down over him....sucks to be him, even more once Clarke gets to work on 'healing' him

 

TeenJack- They need one, oh wait, the creepy little girl killed him....

 

All in all, pretty fun episode...I wonder if this flashback thing is going to be the regular format?

OBVIOUSLY our native/medic w/ the fog horn is NOT w/ the "others"/"grounders" causing the gross death(s) of the week -just my speculation but using spoiler tags in case I'm right -

let's see. He was an escapee of the ark, and DOES speak English. He totally understood that Octavia wanted him to help her friends - so when he starts speaking in the finale, it will be a "shock"...

I like the show but this episode was quite bad. First, I just don't understand why the grounders wouldn't speak English, so I want to believe that they can, it's just they aren't very talkative. I mean, why would have they invented a new language?

 

To me, Bellamy's backstory shows he's always been dumb. I can't believe he took his sister to that party. And I didn't like that she felt so comfortable surrounded by dozens of people.

 

Was anyone else bothered by the "beautiful white girl is rescuenapped by the dark skinned Noble Savage" storyline?  This writing is more like something from 97 years in the past..

Yeah, I was rolling my eyes at that.

Realistically, if the general area they've landed in is North America United States area (which I can't remember if they've established but being an American sci fi show, I'm assuming), I'd expect whatever language the 100 year later descendents of the survivors of a nuclear holocaust to be speaking to be something with a fair chunk of English, Spanish, French, and maybe some Amerindian bits and pieces to it.  But since, again, American sci fi show, I'm assuming they'll turn out to speak English.  Plenty of time for language to adapt so that we wouldn't recognize it, though.  I'm just not expecting this show to go that far with the idea.  I'd be pleasantly surprised if they did.

The drop ship landed in Northern Virginia -- not far from Mt. Weather, which is an actual government emergency facility, about 90 minutes from Washington, D.C.

With the amount of gory deaths each episode, this is shaping up to be the CW's version of The Following.

Yeah, which is why I quit The Following after a few episodes, and which makes me question continuing with this show. But, oddly, I chose to watch it before Arrow (I had to work Wednesday night so couldn't watch either live). The difference here is that there is a plot that does not necessarily hinge on people being airlocked or impaled, although it seems to be a prerequisite for each episode just as hand-to-hand combat is in Arrow and many other shows. And that plot could be really interesting. I wonder if the writers just aren't sure where to go with the plot or if they're just inching towards it between the required mayhem.

I agree with general comments about the series title and think a second season should be titled The 100 Minus 25.

So did Clarke's mom really get her dad airlocked because she thought it was for the good of the many, or is that another red herring?

I was watching it on a tiny screen, but up close, and I didn't think the grounder was dark skinned, just unwashed. Also, the girl has olive complexion, almost black hair, and dark brown eyes, right? Edited by shapeshifter

Personally, I'm hoping Finn dies. That's one way to avoid the obligatory CW love triangle.

 

He's the least interesting of the three for me so I could work with that (I don't hate him I just like the girls more).  I thought the ladies' confrontation showed a lot of promise for a developing relationship.  THe put the crap aside to get shit done when it was warranted.

I just started watching this show on Netflix yesterday for some reason. Maybe I thought watching teens in peril would cheer me up.

 

If all crimes are punishable by death, why wasn't Bellamy sucked out of the airlock with his mom? He aided and abetted, at least. Also, "Bellamy Blake" sounds like it should be the name of a porno studio.
