I found it interesting that Jo was the one to do the voiceover this week, especially because she really wasn't in the episode all that much or integral to the main plot. I guess it was the significance of the hug that did it and the fact that the voiceover (and main patient) was all about walls and keeping your guard up. Oh, Grey's how you keep us on our toes (and into our booze) with your confusing decisions! I nearly fell off my chair when I heard her voice lol, that was so unexpected! And a bit strange as you said that she's only in three scenes.. I think it must have been the hug, and the patient too although I would've thought they would have had Jo work on that patient so it made more sense. I guess by sending her home it was the only way it would make sense for her to be last to know Alex was out of prison. As as a fan of Jo, and Jo and Alex, the start of the second half of this season definitely looks promising. I'm reserving judgement because I'm so used to being disappointed by this show, but it does seem that her perspective is being shown with more focus since 13x10, so if it continues I'll be really happy about that. Yeah the Owen thing definitely seemed like it was leading up to more than what it seemed to be, with Amelia. and April isn't a character I like too much usually but I am feeling for her in this situation, and suspect baileys probably put the pressure on her. And people are right, she's no less suitable for the role than Meredith, and some could argue she's more than capable with her chief residency and specialised training experience. I'm not here for more of the same 'useless kepner' angle they seem to love doing, whilst making Meredith gods gift to surgery, so hopefully she stands up for herself. Link to comment
Tara Ariano February 15, 2017 Share February 15, 2017 In case you missed it, here's the Previously.TV post on the episode! Scatterbrained February 16, 2017 Share February 16, 2017 Random thoughts: I've enjoyed a happy, humorous Stephanie this season. I enjoyed seeing her skipping through the halls this episode. I enjoyed meeting Maggie's mother. I wish we could have seen the dinner with Richard. I hope we get to see her again. I wonder if Bailey came to the April decision on her own, or if Catherine suggested it, or if Bailey and Catherine had ameeting about potential candidates and came to the conclusion of April together. Someone mentioned how abrupt the Jackson/Maggie relationship seems. I felt the same way, but there was the Mer's gone/April's gone fast forward episode, and they at least spent a few holidays together in that time. I'm guessing there's a lot more that we didn't see. I often enjoy the friendships more than the relationships, so I'm all for friendships for everyone. I'm starting the enjoy the season, the before the break episodes didn't do it for me, but I feel like now the show is finally going somewhere storyline-wise. 1 Link to comment
jaync February 16, 2017 Share February 16, 2017 (edited) Quote I don't have any excitement about Arizona / Minnick. Me, neither, and I wanted to feel some kind of way about them. Then again, I still want Arizona and Leah to hook back up. In a scene in the previous episode, Arizona, Leah, and Minnick formed a literal triangle when they were walking together, so I'm hoping that was some kind of anvil (though, it probably was just a matter of logistics in filming the scene). Crazy Bird Lady February 17, 2017 Share February 17, 2017 (edited) I'm disappointed in this whole story thread. Does anyone besides me remember when Bailey was such a tyrant, the interns she was overseeing called her "the Nazi"? That's the Bailey we're seeing again now -without any reasonable rationale for why she suddenly switched back from Dr. Jeckyl to Mr. Hyde. Yeah, I get it that Caroline is behind the whole scheme with Dr. Minnick (which is *totally* an excuse to get Arizona into another relationship). I don't think the attendings' defense of Richard is unreasonable. The way Bailey and Caroline and Minnick have carried out this scheme of theirs is dirty and underhanded and manipulative and just *wrong*. No-one likes to be manipulated like that. As for Jo being the 'editorial' voice of the episode: looks like Meredith is going to be away for a while... Edited February 17, 2017 by Crazy Bird Lady forgot something 1 Link to comment

But that Avery woman (Catherine) is behind all of this, and she's a manipulative, vicious, power-mad egomaniac who is even willing to tear down her own husband without shedding a tear, if it somehow gets her what she wants. She has no conscience. Link to comment

I do not want an exhausted doctor who has been up for 30 hours working on me or anyone I even remotely care about. She could barely stutter out a sentence about a trauma patient being in a trauma room so she was in no shape to handle patients. It drives me crazy when doctors (well, people in general) act like they're so awesome for being sleep deprived. It greatly affects your reaction time, your cognitive abilities, your mood, EVERYTHING which endangers your patients, so unless you are in some sort of crazy combat situation where you absolutely can't sleep, then stop touching patients and GO HOME. Ugh, April is replacing Meredith? No thanks, show. And now Avery is in the position with Maggie that Arizona was in with April/Avery. Of all the doctors in this hospital, I think he's one of the few who actually respects HIPAA regulations and won't tell Maggie. Don't care about Hunt and Amelia. But I'd rather have five seconds of Amelia NOT TALKING per episode than her usual "I'm a superhero"/OMG [insert babbling rant here] appearances. I am SO TIRED of this Minnick plot and it's only been like four episodes. I don't know why Bailey and Catherine think that the Minnick Method is so groundbreaking that it required demoting Richard. I still don't understand why they have deemed Richard's method of NOT allowing inexperienced doctors perform complicated surgeries they've never observed before to be a bad thing. But whatever the case, I want this plot to be over. And after Minnick's obnoxious little speech to Arizona tonight, I want Minnick gone. There's self confident and then there's obnoxious. All this! Minnick makes me want to retch, her "method" is ridiculous, and her attitude is insufferable. Never did really ship Owen/Amelia, but it's too ridiculous that she can't tell him what ails her. I can't even remember myself, but it's probably one of her self-indulgent inner monologues that make sense only to her again. But she should give him a break and inform him, preferably off camera. 2 Link to comment
