That was amazing.

There were a lot of people on the couch, but I think it worked. I loved that no one remembered much about the original premier and its aftermath. Hee.

The rift between Danny Boyle and Ewan McGregor was interesting.

Izzy Bizu's song wasn't much, but damn if I didn't go to bed with the refrain running nonstop through my head.

Danny Boyle was interviewed by Lauren Laverne on BBC Radio 6; good interview.  It's up on their site for another 3 week or so.

As to Izzy Bizu: of the two live, in-studio performances I heard yesterday (SNL, Alessia Cara was the other one), I preferred Ms. Bizu.  Her vocalization was more to my liking.

What a great show. Everyone was enjoyable, interesting, and funny. I loved all the comradery.

I watch Elementary, and the last ep had Sherlock getting his head shaved. When Jonny first came out along with Ewan, and both had shaved heads, I thought, "Ah ha! Sherlock shaved his head because Jonny was in the Trainspotting sequel," but then I realized that -- DUH! -- the movie was filmed a while back, so Ewan and Jonny wouldn't NOW have shaved heads for that. Anyway, I wondered why their heads were shaved. Presumedly for other film roles.

You know, the more I think on it, the more I'm pleased that somebody big has publicly declined a knighthood.  Boyle's response that it wasn't 'his cup of tea' is probably soft-pedaling it, though. I get why he would, and I'm not reproaching him for doing so if in fact he is. But as a person who has been brought up steeped in 'all [people] are created equal', I approve of somebody demurring the artificial elevation, despite the compliment it's generally agreed upon to mean.

I saw the names and immediately turned on the close-captioning. Robert Carlyle in particular, though he's one of my favorites, required it!

I saw Trainspotting when it first came out, and then recently it was on TV and I watched it because it would have captions and I would finally find out what it was about.

I remember going to the movies some time ago, to see that movie about the Troubles with Cillian Murphy, and in the first few minutes of  heavily Irish-accented dialogue, holding my hand up as if I was holding a remote to click on the captions. And then fretting because I wasn't at home and the movie theater didn't have captions I could click on! I was all, I am never going to get this, but it actually was okay after a few minutes: my ears/brain adjusted.
