Ohhhh, ok I misunderstood. I thought she was saying you had to commit to BEING an all star for three years. Not that you had to be a DCC for three years before being eligible to be chosen as an allstar. Brain fart on my part.

Came across this video of Megan, and while Megan's dancing is beautiful, I found myself watching the other girl. Turns out her name is Makenzie Dustman and she's a SYTYCD alum and was a SYTYCD all star, whatever that means. Then of course I went down the black hole of watching a bunch of her dance videos. Anyway, this one was posted in 2010 and I assume they were both teenagers at the time, but I'm not actually sure how old either of them are now. (Also apologize in advance if this has been posted before.)

She's 22 about to turn 23 so she was about 16 at the time!

Tangerine had already taken over the vets' hair before they went on the calendar trip. SUCH an improvement over her color last year.

And can it be...gasp!...A DCC out in public without a face full of makeup, and flawlessly shiny hair? She's not even wearing jewelry or one of those typical little outfits they all seem to gravitate toward. I thought that was a firing offense. [/sarcasm]

You don't like the color though? For sure, it's not a color that exists in nature, but it was so carroty last year. To me this is miles better.

I actually like her hair styled like that. My hair has a similar cut right now, although mine is a little longer (slightly past shoulder length in front and a little shorter in back). I tend to like mine the most when I put a little curl in it like Holly has hers there. I also really like the color and think it looks miles better than it did last year.

Holly looks like it has too much maroon or burgundy in it.  Would like to see something more natural with highlights and warm low lights

Hollys color is beautiful now. That cut on her is still mature. I like the curl better than the straight, but somehow on her either look too old. maybe she needs extensions. I loved Jacie and Makenzie's shorter hair, but just not on Holly.

yes, she was cut at finals. She had just finished up at Kilgore so she was probably 19/20 at the time? Beautiful girl and great dancer but she probably just blended and needed a year of maturity/professional experience (TLD)

Holly's color is great now that tangerine has taken over but it does fade out quickly. I actually had my hair the same color as hers, maybe a little more brown though for the past few months and I loved it but went lighter for the summer. I wish they would let her hair be curly like that, I feel like they only want it to be straight. It does look so much nicer with a little wave to it.

I would prefer Holly as a rich brunette, but I don't dislike her color now. Pretty much any red that isn't natural says "dyed." My best friend is a natural redhead, but she dyes her hair a darker shade of red and you can totally tell it's not her natural color, but it still looks pretty.

While I like her color, it's clear they haven't quite figured out her look. Maybe if they gave her a cut with a little bit of a flip to it, like Brittney who was a finalist this year...?

Her BF is so cute! She had an appearance at a PBR event and met him there. He's was one of the professional bull riders featured in the event. They are the cutest!

Interesting ... I wonder how many of the girls turnover boyfriends during their stint as DCC.  I imagine it has to be hard on a relationship with the constant time demands and the additional attention from other people.

May I just say I personally know Steph and she's pretty much perfection? And I will agree- she sometimes photographs a little funny- but her eyes and her cheek bones just pop! No she doesn't have a typical "girl next door" or DCC look but she is so striking. And she can dance along with a sweet personality...there's a reason she came back :)

See I think Stephanie is one of the prettier ones. In the swimwear she looked way too bodybuilder, but in the DCC uniform she doesn't. Her hair is amazing and her face is very pretty to me.

Aw, I love hearing that! She seems to be well-loved by the other girls (Amy's tribute to her for her birthday was so sweet!) and an asset to the team.  I think she is pretty, I just feel like her eyebrows are so severe it makes her come across wrong at times.  I think the same thing about Loren though.

Is being uber Christian a DCC requirement? seems like every girl references the Bible (Kashara is the one I was just looking at) in every IG photo.   I'm seriously asking and not being snarky.

Noooo, not all of the girls post BIble verses and whatnot.  I don't think I've ever seen Danielle do that and Paige never did either that I can recall. I think they do have a pretty big group of Christians though because I mean, most of the girls come from the Bible belt and/or Christian college. It would be something they grew up with.

I'm not trying to generalize but most DCC girls are from the south and I guess people tend to be more religious here?

i know Paige and Danielle are from the Midwest and North. But who knows... maybe they are religious and don't like to post about it every second they get.

That's the only thing that off-puts me sometimes. I feel like the girls post a little too much about religion, but that's just me and I'm not religious at all and that could be the reason why it off-puts me.

Yeah I hear that ... I think the ones that aren't born and bred in TX (or South) tend not to be as religious in terms of their postings.   Emily in particular seems to love her lordly quotes.  Good for them to have that strong belief in something - while I am not about institutional religion, I am always interested in / curious about people who have such strong faiths.

I'm a little liberal for a southerner and it kind of bothers me. I was raised going to church and stopped going with my family because of hypocrisy within our church. Maybe I'm the small town black sheep, but if you don't fully walk the walk don't talk the talk. 

 

A lot of those girls are nice and sweet but sometimes I just laugh and think, is this guilt from what you did Saturday night ? ?

I'm a Christian so I admit I like seeing their verses and what not...but I agree with the last thing you said. It's like these girls on IG who post pictures in next to nothing with a Bible verse.  Whut?? Not sure that's what God means by "she is clothed with strength and dignity..." LOL

The Bible verses actually surprise me, only because I would think stuff like religion and politics would be automatic no-no for discussion. I would think they would want to be as non-controversial as possible. And in Texas they probably aren't:).  

Some me of them have tweeted about their particular churches, and they are actually very conservative. Again no real surprise. But I can't see a team on the East or West Cost being cool with their cheerleaders tweeting about their super conservative mega church from their official account. It just wouldn't play in more diverse markets.

Im so glad someone else said it was off putting to them, too.  I'm not Christian (or anything) and maybe that's why I connect more with the Danielle's and the Paige's of DCC.
