Thanks for the well wishes and vibes!!  I spoke with him and he sympathized (or at least pretended to).  He said he would wait on changing my job and consider giving me an intern so I can keep doing what I do.  Let's hope he means it!!!

Glad to hear it went well for you!  WTG you for standing up for yourself and making yourself heard.

Haha, I don't know if all people my age would know what a 45 is, but I come from a family of musicians/music lovers so it's inevitable. My mom still has all her 45s and plays them sometimes. She says James Taylor and Carol King sound better on record, and I'm inclined to agree.

I love the California ranch house too. Sigh. I have the house to myself tonight. I was planning on a marathon video game session (yeah, I'm not kidding), but I might have to watch "The Parent Trap."

Love that movie .. whatever happen to the actress who played Vickie?  "You, your twin, do you share everything?"  "Everything"  "Everything"  "Well you give your sister her half of this!" (SLAP!).

Love it

Good luck, @tobeyoungagain  I spent 7 years in a place that was so not very nice and felt like I was on the bottom of the dungheap a lot of times.  I finally got out of there 14 months ago after YEARS of searching and let's just say my former boss was NOT happy about the fact that I bolted the first chance I got.  In fact, I'd interviewed twice on the same day, got offered both jobs, but took the one that is suited for me (and was the first one offered).  I'm VERY proud of the fact that I got offered both jobs despite everything.  Update your resume and start searching IMMEDIATELY.  You never know when that next position will find you.  Just don't let your boss know you're out there searching if you can help it.

@ByTor you have my complete and utter sympathy - curly hair is tough to deal with at the best of times and it just kind of feels like when things go wrong, they go WRONG.  My hair is doing better now though even if it's not where I want it to be - I use Kerastase and it is the only thing that has made any kind of difference at all to my hair.  I can't afford it at the salon prices so I hit up eBay and I buy the pro sizes for cheap - it's just key to get a legitimate seller.  Aveda still intoxicates me with its scent, but it always dried my hair terribly.

Kerastase has a smoothing line and a moisturizing line that are completely amazing and I notice a huge difference if I run out before I can get my hands on more product.  Right now I use the sulfate-free Discipline shampoo, Maskeratine, and Nutritive pre-shampoo, along with Initialiste (scalp serum), Fluidissime (heat protectant spray), Nectar Thermique (leave-in conditioner), Serum Therapiste (strengthening serum), and Elixir Ultime (shine serum).  Holy shit that's a lot lol  You only (fortunately) have to use a very small amount for them to be effective.  They are seriously fantastic products.

Also, if you've noticed a really significant change in your hair, is there a possible underlying health condition?  I can't speculate at all and I don't want to freak you out but I know that can sometimes be a concern, even if it's something like not eating enough protein.  As fried as my hair got from those highlights it wasn't just chemical, it has for sure been stress, too - it doesn't grow anywhere near as fast as it did before and that's an inside issue.  I've had very close relatives who actually would begin to lose their hair when they were under stress...it's pretty wicked to deal with.

I have the Kerastse Bain Oleo-Relax masque...I think I might try using it under my hood dryer, maybe that will help it penetrate better.  I do always get a nice "slip" when I just leave it on in the shower.  Maybe I should give the whole line a shot.  Since 2001, I've switched shampoos/conditioners, but have pretty much remained loyal to Ouidad cuts/styling products, and after ALL these years I'm now wondering if it just doesn't agree with my hair.  At first my hair was the best it ever looked.  Their "carving/slicing" method does help get rid of bulk (my hair is super duper thick), but the cut, after doing it too often, is probably a bit damaging too, so you get in a vicious circle where you use lots of product to cover the hair damage, but if my hair doesn't like the product it's a double-whammy! If you're familiar, I also tried Deva cuts/products, but the cuts leave my hair oddly crooked and do nothing to encourage the curl, and the styling gel leaves my hair sticky and straw-like (wheat, oat, and soy protein...and glycerin, I understand lots of curlies don't like glycerin).

I did consider health issues...I do have Raynaud's, which I think for me is triggered by the cold (I am insanely intolerant to cold weather & am uncomfortable unless temps are in the 80s & above), but I know there could be underlying causes.  And I do know I should get my ass to a doctor, but going back to being a very fat kid who got made fun of for it all the time, I still have this extreme fear of embarrassment about getting weighed (even though I lost the weight years ago).  I guess I should sympathize with the DCCs and their weigh-ins!!! But for now, I think I'm going to try deep conditioning a couple times a week under the dryer with a shower cap & not use styling products or the flat iron and see if there's any improvement.  I guess people will be used to seeing me wearing a bun while I do my little experiment!

I know what a 45 is too, my first ever single was Islands in the Stream by Dolly and Kenny on 45, I also had 9 to 5 by Dolly on 45 lol. Now I feel old lol no not really it's all just a number right but turning 40 this past year was a great reason to party.

I LOVE the original Parent Trap, I drive hubby crazy watching it every time it's on and singing along.

I'm so glad I popped in I needed a smile, this afternoon was the second time in a month I went to the funeral home after school to support one my of students who'd lost their mother, and I teach 8th graders. sigh

ooh, I wonder though, is your stylist using a razor for your cuts?  Because if she is you should run fast and far away, razors absolutely shred hair and I started having problems with mine when one of my old stylist used them. Looks amazing for a while but it won't last, unfortunately.  I for sure recommend the whole Kerastase line, I started to see major improvements when I did.  I've never used Ouidad or Deva, although I have heard mixed reviews - I know that until they came around there was a huge lack of decent product for curly hair for sure.  I've just had my best luck with the Nutritive and Maskeratine lines, even though technically I should have liked the Oleo-Relax best.  Not sure why, and it was okay, but it's the products I'm using now that have made the biggest difference.  For the Kerastase masks, I always wash my hair at the beginning of my shower and then get as much of the water out as I can, and apply the masque, and clip it up and keep it in while I'm washing the rest of my body and shaving.  Also, the pre shampoo really works well, and I have also used Phyto's Phytoelixir along with it - even though it's an oil (with some extra moisturizers) it actually works much better than regular oil.  I used to just warm up olive oil and apply right before a workout so it could have about 30-60 minutes to work in well, but now I just use the Phytoelixir and Nutritive pre-shampoo and it works perfectly.

Also, I am sending you my best thoughts and a big hug given your concerns about going in to a doctor.  It really is hard and when you've had a bad experience it's difficult to get past.  I hope you can though, and that it helps.  And of course it's pretty impossible to tell for sure, but if you have Raynaud's, and there are circulation issues, you may want to try scalp massage.  A component of hair loss is the lack of nutrients at the follicle, which are carried there through blood flow.  Many people get great results that way, so maybe it will work well for you.  And anyway, it feels amazing lol

Awww thanks for everything @raindancer!  Today I ordered a deep conditioner I heard raves about called Davines Nounou Nourishing Repairing Mask for Dry and Brittle Hair.  It has no protein, it's all moisture, so hopefully I'll like it.  I just looked up the Phytoelixir oil, and one of the ingredients is egg yolk extract, and now I'm curious...it sounds like a protein, but I wonder if my hair would like it as opposed to vegetable protein, which my hair cannot tolerate.  As for my cuts, no, Ouidad cuts don't use razors, but they do cut some sections vertically to remove bulk...they say that the hair doesn't get damaged if really really REALLY sharp scissors are used, but now I'm not so sure I believe it!  I'm not super worried about a health problem, because I'm not having loss as in my hair is falling out, the hair I'm losing is ends that are breaking off.  But considering I haven't been to a doctor (excluding a gynecologist) since 1998 I probably should see one :)  I might need one anyway, when I was walking my dog earlier I slipped on ice and landed right on my tailbone..ouch!

Can I request prayers and well wishes? I just got a call today for an interview in my field. It's perfect and nearly doubles what I'm making now. It's next Tuesday, so I basically waltzed in my boss' office and asked for the whole day off, so he knows. I'm thus scared of repercussions if I don't get the job, but there was no way I could let this slip by. Thanks in advance :)

Update on a previous post regarding my mom coming to visit, asking me to record The Affair, telling her I might not have enough DVR space bc of DCC Making The Team, and her asking why I can't delete any of the 50 (!!!!) episodes I have and have watched at least two dozen times each. My answer was basically 'because!' ?

Ok....she hasn't watched a single episode of The Affair. Last night she asked me to turn on Making the Team bc she wanted to see why I liked it so much. And now we're just finishing up our third episode. Yay!! When we get home at night and are unwinding she says 'turn on the Dallas Cheerleader show.' I'm kvelling. Oh how proud she makes me ??❤?.

PS: @QuiteContraryMoni: we also watched my favorite episode of Bob's Burgers: Mazel-Tina. Success!! She enjoyed it more than I thought she would.

Doesn't it feel good? My mom moved in with us this summer and she watched all of season 11 with me. It's fun to have someone to watch it with. ?

Anyone having anything interesting for lunch?  This day is CRAWLING!!!  I'm such a hoarder (of everything) that my fridge is stock full of food but all I want to eat is Thai take-out ... the one thing NOT in my fridge

Not really interesting...my usual salad base of spring mix, arugula, grape tomatoes, jalapenos, onions, olives, and feta cheese with a scoop of tuna salad (just tuna & mayo).

UGH!!! The weather is playing fast and loose with our minds in Montana. First with the cold temperatures and snow, and now with rain, flooding and black ice. In western Montana they had to close some interstates and other roads due to flooding, and it is making it hard for people to get to Idaho and Washington. The local school districts where I live cancel all bus routes because of black ice, and drivers are told to be careful or to stay off the roads, and lets not forget flood warnings.

I was suppose to have a doctor appointment this morning with the sleep specialist, but his office canceled the appointment last December. He comes in from out of town to the local hospital a few times a month. I bet he is happy he does not have to drive today because of the lousy road conditions, and I am happy I do not have to drive this morning either. Crossing fingers the roads will be okay a week from today when I see him for my one year follow up appointment.

@Oranaiche maybe you'd have a better day if you'd brought your lunch in your 'Remains of The Day' lunch box? It's such a lighthearted, accessible movie. And the kids LOVE Jane Austen movies! The whole genre, really! They're even coming up with a theme park! Like Disneyland. Gonna call it "AustenLand".  Gonna have attractions like "sense and sensibility tilt a whirl" and the "Gwyneth Paltrow roller coaster" and "The Anthony Hopkins bumper boats". I thought this news would cheer you up.

You're so right! I would feel a million times better if I had eaten my Whopper with cheese out of a Remains of the Day lunch box. Getting on eBay right now!

I didn't take it as sarcasm :)  I read several comments online from people who also experienced dryness/breakage from Olaplex, so I guess what's a miracle for some isn't really much of one for others.

AGREE!! I know MANY religious people who just laugh at the whole science OR religion thing. They're smart enough to recognize both as being a valid part of their life. Science and religion can work in harmony, it doesn't have to be either/or. SO STUPID. And to thank God for healing you up after a DOCTOR saved you when a rock fell off a mountain onto your head...uhm....yeah.....no.

I need some meth or something. I have a job interview at 3 and I am SO NOT feeling today. BTW, I've never done/nor do I condone doing meth. But the coffee isn't working. Don't people do that for energy?? Whatever. I'll try some vitamins instead.

It's more the ultra conservative/religious fundies that do this like the ones who don't believe in evolution. The Jehovah's Witnesses with the blood transfusions bother me too. They can't even give blood because it's against their religion.

Soooo.......you're hungry and I have a job interview. Wanna trade? I could skip a meal, and I HATE job interviews!!

I get really nervous on job interviews but I apparently rocked the one for this job so sure let's switch lol

I hear ya, I feel exactly the same for job interviews!  My trick is to watch something that makes me laugh. I'd watch the Everybody Loves Raymond episode "Snow Day", followed by The Mystery Science Theater 3000 shorts "Progress Island USA," "Last Clear Chance," and time permitting "A Case of Spring Fever."  Took the edge off every time!

I really don't want to debate theology here LOL so I will avoid the conversation on miracles/science/etc. BUT I will admit that I have somewhat of a hard time understanding how these very religious girls rationalize a life choice that has them half naked shaking it or posing on the beach untying their top.  I remember Kelsi R's blog where she said she used to pray that men wouldn't look at her in lust but that they'd be drawn to learning more about her and seeing her faith, etc...ummmmmmm hmmmmmm noooooo.  it reminds me of Heidi Montag trying to rationalize that her posing for playboy was ok because God gave her her body and she was glorifying him by showing it to everyone.  I don't claim to be the world's #1 leading Biblical scholar but...NOPE.  that is not how it works.

Anyway, let him who is without sin cast the first stone and i'm certainly not without my own sins lol so I don't want to be too judgmental.  Just sayin' that personally, I would never be able to make it work without feeling guilty all the time.

As for job interviews, I always get nervous but always tell myself that I'm a mature adult who can form competent sentences about myself and my experience so if I blow the interview, it was never meant to be hahaha

I'm so sad I missed out on Miss @Oranaiche 's cash and prizes. That's what I get for taking a couple days off!

In other news, My Fit Foods has suddenly shuttered. I thought it was just the location at Royal and Preston when I stopped by Friday, but saw this article that says it's all locations. http://www.khou.com/life/food/my-fit-foods-announces-closures-of-all-stores/407219111

I used to go all the time when my office was by their location near Valley Ranch, but switched over to Snap Kitchen about a year ago. More convenient for me. But as ridiculous as the show made it sound, it really was awesome if you've got the budget and no desire to cook.  Several of my friends always use Snap, My Fit Foods or the other one (Simply Foods?) for weeks when the schedule is bananas crazy and we might otherwise live on fast food. Or juicing. Shudder.
