I need some meth or something. I have a job interview at 3 and I am SO NOT feeling today. BTW, I've never done/nor do I condone doing meth. But the coffee isn't working. Don't people do that for energy?? Whatever. I'll try some vitamins instead.

I hear ya, I feel exactly the same for job interviews!  My trick is to watch something that makes me laugh. I'd watch the Everybody Loves Raymond episode "Snow Day", followed by The Mystery Science Theater 3000 shorts "Progress Island USA," "Last Clear Chance," and time permitting "A Case of Spring Fever."  Took the edge off every time!

I really don't want to debate theology here LOL so I will avoid the conversation on miracles/science/etc. BUT I will admit that I have somewhat of a hard time understanding how these very religious girls rationalize a life choice that has them half naked shaking it or posing on the beach untying their top.  I remember Kelsi R's blog where she said she used to pray that men wouldn't look at her in lust but that they'd be drawn to learning more about her and seeing her faith, etc...ummmmmmm hmmmmmm noooooo.  it reminds me of Heidi Montag trying to rationalize that her posing for playboy was ok because God gave her her body and she was glorifying him by showing it to everyone.  I don't claim to be the world's #1 leading Biblical scholar but...NOPE.  that is not how it works.

Anyway, let him who is without sin cast the first stone and i'm certainly not without my own sins lol so I don't want to be too judgmental.  Just sayin' that personally, I would never be able to make it work without feeling guilty all the time.

As for job interviews, I always get nervous but always tell myself that I'm a mature adult who can form competent sentences about myself and my experience so if I blow the interview, it was never meant to be hahaha

I'm so sad I missed out on Miss @Oranaiche 's cash and prizes. That's what I get for taking a couple days off!

In other news, My Fit Foods has suddenly shuttered. I thought it was just the location at Royal and Preston when I stopped by Friday, but saw this article that says it's all locations. http://www.khou.com/life/food/my-fit-foods-announces-closures-of-all-stores/407219111

I used to go all the time when my office was by their location near Valley Ranch, but switched over to Snap Kitchen about a year ago. More convenient for me. But as ridiculous as the show made it sound, it really was awesome if you've got the budget and no desire to cook.  Several of my friends always use Snap, My Fit Foods or the other one (Simply Foods?) for weeks when the schedule is bananas crazy and we might otherwise live on fast food. Or juicing. Shudder.

From the Unpopular Opinions thread... @LaurenBrook - your brand of Christianity makes me want to try church again sometimes. People who live their life through their faith, show don't tell, help others, kindness... that's the Christian I was raised to be and I think it got lost somewhere in politics. The outlook on abortion and homosexuality and particularly the way those two topics are treated is where I really lost my way. I still believe in God, though, and I think there are good parts and pieces to the big three that fall under that umbrella (Christianity, Islam and Judaism.)

I do give an eyebrow to those who thank God for saving them in a natural disaster when their neighbor and three children died, because did they not deserve a miracle too? Is God really that selective? Can we thank God and doctors and God for giving that particular doctor enough tuition money and smarts to be a doctor in the first place? It's a rabbit hole.

And while I'm in this soap box, I hope the pregnancy crisis center JennK promotes is one of the good ones that really helps with prenatal care, sonograms and supplies. The state of Texas slashed funding for family planning centers (prevent the pregnancy) and has really invested in these Christian based crisis centers ($9.2M in 2015, up from $2.5M in 2008.) Some are just terrible. I wish our legislators understood that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

@kalibean, is My Fit Foods gone gone, or is it still available online?

Wow, totally gone. Here's a screen shot of their stripped down website.

The sign on their Preston and Royal store listed four other locations that were still open. Guess not?

This is going to be incredibly ig'nant. But, what's the difference between My Fit Foods and like, the organic frozen entrees? Or even like, the organic lean cuisines?

All of it. MAH sistah! YESSS!!!!

It's all fresh food, not frozen. And the sodium tends to be much lower. I went to a quilt retreat this weekend that didn't provide food, so I picked up these on the way. My friend brought a homemade quiche tho, so I bailed on my purchased breakfast and ate hers ?

I wonder if MFF went out of business due to things like Hello Fresh and other boxed dinners that arrive fresh.

Maybe? But you still have to prep and cook those. And omg the waste. I did it once and couldn't repeat, even tho the meals were really good. Honestly, it's a little cheaper to do the premade too. But some people love to cook. I am not those people for sure :)

True...you didn't have to prepare MFF? I wish there was an option like that around here.

Nope! It looked just like the meals in my pic. I loved their snack packs...just meat, nuts, veggies. I tend to make my own or buy similar at the grocery store now tho.

I lived on Diet Gourmet (I think that's what it's called?) and protein bars in grad school since I was also working full time. That seems to have been replaced with My Fit Food and Snap Kitchen tho. I wish it had come around sooner! Dallas has done a good job at embracing healthier restaurants in the last few years, finally.

I guess the way I look at it is, instead of thinking of it like why wouldn't God help some people, it's why does God help anyone at ALL.  We are all deserving of hell and 'bad things' because we are sinners but we actually have a chance to be redeemed because Jesus died on the cross for *everyone*.  It's just all so twisted - people look at diseases, wars, etc as "God hates us!" when the fact that anything good ever happens at all is a sign that he actually loves us and cares about us.  He's done what he can to open the doors to salvation but he's not going to force anyone to follow Him.  Love isn't really love if you're forced into it...love is special because it's something we choose to do :)

You are 100% right that 'religion' and politics have screwed things up so much.  I know so many Christians who 'rate' sins - they will harp all day on abortion, divorce and homosexuality but somehow forget what God has to say about pride, love of material things, lying and even gluttony.  God has something to say about all of that, he isn't sitting around rating people on a sin scale.

it just makes my heart so heavy that so many people who claim to be Christians alienate everyone else by being self righteous or taking verses and using them to fit their own agenda.  I certainly have my beliefs and opinions and I don't believe Christians should just let everything slide because the Bible does lay out mandates on how we should live, but i hope that I never make anyone uninterested in Christ because of the way I live or the way I talk and act.  God has shown me so much love and grace and I only hope i can reflect that to others.

WHEW. Deep on a Monday, yinz guys.  Sorry about that!!!

My reasons for not believing are very personal so I don't share them, I broke down crying when discussing it with my dad and all he could say was "you should go back to church." Like no, that's not what I want. My family was never religious either, just my grandmother and my aunt. My grandma was catholic so she raised my dad and aunt catholic but my dad and mom raised myself and my sister as protestant. When this guy that I really liked, probably for the first time in a long time just stopped talking to me, I tried to look on the positive side like "Maybe God knew he wouldn't be right for me and just let him walk away" but I can't fully believe due to what's happened to me.

Is My Fit Foods the food service that the "chastised for weight" DCCs used?  There seems to be so many great options out there and since I suck at cooking (except I'm good with pasta which I love and eat WAY too much of), I've been debating investing the money into these premade / prepackaged meals.  It's just a tad pricy though!  A lot of them are $12-$15 for an entrée and that's barely enough for me to have for lunch!

Pasta is so much cheaper

Anyone else love Old Navy or am I the only one?  Seriously why do they have such sick sales???  And why am I buying so many workout clothes when I have WAY too much

I'm sorry for whatever has happened to you, girl. For those that do believe, or even want to believe (I'd put myself in the latter category), we have to at least know, God's nowhere near whatever happened to you. Why it happened then if there IS a God that is supposed to protect and serve is where I personally get stuck. Much love to you.

Yeah, I'd definitely like to put myself in the latter category, but it's just too hard. That was exactly my argument when talking with my dad about it.

At the end of the day, know this ... a bunch of random strangers (some nice, some decent, some feisty, and some aggressive) all think you're a great person who contributes a lot and seems like a good soul.  So regardless of what you believe vs. don't, you're doing something right cause you're pretty awesome!  Stay strong and don't let the bad stuff tear you down.

I'm so sorry to hear that :( There is definitely a lot of evil that happens in the world and most of it makes no sense.  I guess that is where we all differ...some find it easier to believe there isn't a God when they face tremendous heart break and others find him when the heart break brings them to their knees and there is nowhere else to turn.

I truly am sorry for the awful things that happened though and as others said, we love ya!!!

The funniest part is that it's based on a true story and the girl that played her in the movie is like 100x prettier.

The movies featured in MST3000 are a genre I love!!  I love really bad sic-fi.  Low budget, horrible acting and if possible, an name actor who needed money.  I found a website years ago, now out of business, that had all of these. My favorite were aliens who had a sex drive and needed babes to quench their thirst.  I have a few on dvd but many on VHS tape (the distributor didn’t bother to offer on dvd).  They are ridiculous and hilarious.

I’ll show myself out...

@PBSLover, you're reminding me of my ex's friend.  He said he couldn't watch MST3K with his dad, because the dad would bitch that he wished those guys would shut up so he could hear the movie!

The comments they made on the show were hilarious though.  But still.

One that comes to mind is a scientist and some girl who I still don’t know what her character was doing there were hunting some alien thing.  They start in one city and then have to fly to Puerto Rico because it has been spotted there.  When the doctor and woman get off the plane, they take a scooter to a lab and all of a sudden the film turns into Roman Holiday.   Sunny music, fun weaving in and out of traffic, smiling faces.  It was so stupid and I loved it.

@QuiteContraryMoni - GOOD LUCK TODAY!!!!

Also, my two fave MST3Ks are:

The Beginning of The End (where giant grasshoppers take over the world)

and

Manos, The Hands of Fate (indescribable. Google it.)

I have such a hard time picking out favorites!  I love The Beginning of the End and Manos (I own both on DVD...actually I own many on DVD)!  My top 5 would have to be Werewolf, The Final Sacrifice (Rowsdower!!!), Pod People, Space Mutiny, and Teenage Strangler.  Honorable mentions to Hobgoblins, Merlin's Shop of Mystical Wonders, and Eegah.

@radishcake and @twinkietwin94 Brad has a new movie, "Get Out", coming out in wide release on February 24.  It is a horror movie with a race dynamic written and directed by the comic Jordan Peele.  It is supposed to be frightening, and I hate (!) horror movies with gore and blood (I just don't see them), but maybe this one will be more psychological fear.  I want to see it to support a fellow school parent and overall nice guy, but I'll have to wait to hear from other people if it is just too scary.

Here is the trailer:

Haha, I always buy the packs of chicken breasts that come individually wrapped and then freeze them. That way you can just take out however many you need and they thaw quick inside their wrappers in warm water.

Responding to the LipSense company that Tasha is a part of, as well as myself.

Tbh MLM's have always made me side-eye because you have to bust ass and recruit to actually make anything, so I casually sell to family and use the nice discount for myself because the stuff does work if you take care of your lips.

I have always had cracked, chapped, and scabbed lips. This comes from years of biting due to anxiety. I started using LS about 5 months ago. The exfoliation process is kind of discouraging at first, but I have to say as damaged as my lips were, they're in really good shape now. It's not a stain or a liquid lipstick, its pigment based in alcohol. I hope your LP ladies were upfront about the slight tingle at first and the exfoliation, because I'd be freaked out too if they weren't! The tingle does go away after continuous use tbough, and being able to have lipstick not transfer or move is honestly what I need during 10-12 hour days. /end non promotional sales pitch.
