Wings November 29, 2015 Share November 29, 2015 (edited) Salt does negatively affect many diabetics. I hesitated to add this because I didn't see Raven's comments. She is not diabetic, her mother is. It was an unnecessary comment for a cooking segment. Padma asked her to salt a pot of stock. Edited November 29, 2015 by wings707 2 Link to comment
Cosmocrush November 29, 2015 Share November 29, 2015 (edited) The food [on Late Night Joy] is required for ambiance but no one eats it because no one wants to eat on camera. I am sure the snacks are consumed after the taping wraps. Have you ever watched The View? All they do is stuff their faces when food is present - and always have, even Babs used to do it. I watch a lot of cooking/food shows but I've never seen co-hosts chow down like this bunch. Even a show like The Chew - who is practically required to taste the food doesn't sit around eating while trying to interview someone ( and they feed a portion of their audience as well) The Spew co-hosts should not take more than a bite. I thought this week's show where they all just sat on a stage and ate while pretending to have a talk show was gross. I didn't get the point of that - they never explained what the dishes were or who made them or WHY they were there, so I wouldn't even count it as a food segment. Then it got weird because perpetual teenager Stacy London comes out to do her thing but no one stops eating. Paula awkwardly offered her a biscuit. By the way I was amazed London actually dressed Whoopi in that mess and then told us she spent under a $100. I was thinking she could have done it for under $5. Just raid the hamper. I'm going on on a limb here and guessing it was supposed to feel like they were including us in their Thanksgiving but it just came off like we the viewers were interrupting their mealtime. Total FAIL. They said the Chew crew provided the food. Probably leftovers from their show. <snerk> That said, it is terribly rude to be chowing down while trying to carry on a conversation. Thanks Haleth I guess I missed that part. I did hear Joy ask Whoopi who made the food and Whoopi said, "I don't know." which really bugged me too. ETA: On the marble/granite counter top topic: when we re-did the kitchen a few years ago we chose practical composite countertops. They look great, are eco-friendly, require very low maintenance, and didn't break the budget. On the marble floor idea; I once stayed in a place with marble bathroom floors and was terrified everytime I got out of the shower - it's like ice, only slicker lol. Absolutely but you don't see guests doing it. The intimate setting in Joy's kitchen is what I meant. Not a chow down environment. 2 Link to comment
telemachus2 November 29, 2015 Share November 29, 2015 Aha - a chance to "chip" in re counters (missed it the 1st go-round.) We built our retirement shack on a strict budget 4 yrs ago & opted for kitchen counters/backsplash in supremely unstylish porcelain tile, 18" x 18", so not too many groutlines; our island has a 12" overhang & beveled corners - no probs thus far. Our tiles (called Castle Stone) were about $1.80/per sq ft, & coordinate very well with our .99/sq ft slate tiles on the fireplace & hearth. Joy should shop at Lowes for her replacement counter! Hope all are enjoying their Thanksgiving hol - is the football over YET?? Sorry to go so far off topic. I loved that Whoops was dressed by Stacy L., whom W. excoriated years ago for daring to criticize her bag lady wardrobe. 6 Link to comment

Not a chow down environment. Good point wings707. I don't think I've ever seen a guest on this show chow down with the co-hosts and I'd bet they are as mortified as we are watching the spectacle. I loved that Whoops was dressed by Stacy L., whom W. excoriated years ago for daring to criticize her bag lady wardrobe. Hahaha! I'd forgotten about that. Clearly, London embraced Whoopi's preferred bag lady look and is more concerned with this job than her standing as stylist, not that I ever thought much of London's style anyway. 2 Link to comment
TheGreenKnight November 29, 2015 Share November 29, 2015 To be fair, Whoopi did look good the first day Stacy was exlaining how their outfits were under $100. It was the second day where she looked like a trainwreck. Btw, can I just say how annoying it is to have the advertisements constantly during this show? That thought ran through my head when they stopped the show for them to explain their clothes. Is this The View or QVC for heaven's sake--I don't think I've ever seen any other show on daytime that does this nonsense. I've seen them sometimes hock things for guests, but rarely during the main part of the show. 4 Link to comment
Wings November 29, 2015 Share November 29, 2015 I have gotten tips to some good websites from product placement in segments. Nothing Stacy has presented yet but on other shows. To be fair to Stacy, it is difficult to dress Whoopie's figure. You cannot do much more than give her a big loose top. I actually think she looks nice most of the time considering her limitations. Medicine Crow November 29, 2015 Share November 29, 2015 As most of you know, I'm a Canadian, but I can't help but get fired up when a nut case attacks a Planned Parenthood building & one of his "reasons" was "baby parts". I think the lies & scare tactics of Carly Fiorina (& her ilk) can be the fodder for the "unbalanced" & those that propagate those lies should be held responsible for the deaths & damage caused by their "hysteria". 20 Link to comment

RO (as well as the rest of them) 'styled' themselves. I think they bring people like Stacey in for gimmicks like the $100 an outfit week but overall they wear their own clothing and have for years now. Stacey (and before her some woman named Fran) simply get items they know the co-hosts would wear like big sloppy shirts for Whoop or black pants for Joy or cute teenaged girl circle skirts for CCB. 3 Link to comment
Tosia November 30, 2015 Share November 30, 2015 Yes, medicine crow, i think Fiorina, and others sh be held responsible too. Sigh. But they won't. They will be held up as heroes in the ProLife circles. IRONIC, I know. I used to escort women from car to door at PPL and other clinics to shelter them from screaming mobs and gruesome pictures. Even then (early 90's), I was concerned about getting shot myself. But to me the women needed support. 16 Link to comment
fl2dc November 30, 2015 Share November 30, 2015 (edited) They are still giving credit to Fran their 'stylist' for this week's $100 or less looks. I don't get it. Stacey went shopping for the clothes (allegedly) and Fran told them to put them on? What's her role exactly in a week like this week? Edited November 30, 2015 by fl2dc 1 Link to comment

Hee. Yes. Isn't CCB around 40-ish? Her skirts are super short sometimes. She is stunning and slim and CAN pull it off, but does that mean she should ..on tv? And the circle skirts... IDK what to say. Raven has gorgeous eyes. If she could shut her yapping bazoo, that'd be awesome.. And good grief, a giant pot of stock needs a pinch of salt. Sheesh. THIS THIS THIS^^^^ It is horrifying and I agree some (Fiorina leading the way) are inciting these nutjobs who MURDER people. It is sickening. 6 Link to comment
