S04.E14: The Darkest Hour

Hippos kill  3000 people a year? If they're herbivores, are they killing bc they're scared or territorial? Wow.

That is one tiny cop. I bet she is great at undercover work.

The man is 55 yrs old. I wonder how many older women apply for this show.  I don't recall seeing any women over 45 and that is only one that I can remember.

Did she say why she left law enforcement ?

It sounded to me that she did a lot of work in children's SVU. And because she looks so young I'll bet she was used as 'bait' decoy to catch predators. She said she'd seen stuff she couldn't unsee, so although I don't believe she said it out right, it sounds like PTSD is what made her leave. I couldn't believe she was 29. She looked 18.

There was a dude on this episode?  Oh yeah the guy in the background while she gave one of her many THs.  The editors definitely liked her.

And I too am glad this guy being republican and a Christian wasn't a tool. I think they put them together for that reason alone hoping for stereotypical opposites at odds with each others lifestyle or religion.  Glad to see the two get along and I believe most people on opposite sides in real life do get along and are tolerant of each other.  He was very understanding of what she has gone through and the scars it seems to have left on her.  Some of the guys we have seen in past episodes would have been on her for being weak and would have had no patience with her.

I liked them both and the bathroom countdown was funny.  Oh and her hair was great in the jungle but not so much when she got back.  Did she draw her eye browns on thicker and blacker?  Not a good look.

This was a better episode than the previous two but I could have done without the seemingly minute by minute bowel movement update. I was wondering if we were going to see the medics due to her problem. I can't believe the show even went there.

I think she said she was 4'11".

Scary seeing the Hippo roaming through the camp during the night.

The editors loved both of them, but I thought they were great too!  I always think these African eppies are some of the toughest because of the animals and lack of food, but these two had a great plan with their big five and little five.  They did their homework and it all paid off.  And they were both decent human beings- two thumbs up- I couldn't even snark at these two.

Really nice episode and the pair were well matched. I'm glad she was with an older guy as I think it helped her feel like she had a father figure to keep her safe.  She reminded me of a dark-haired Hayden Panitiere.  I think it meant a lot to the guy to feel like she trusted him with some of her secrets.  Hope they stay in touch.

I really enjoyed the partnership between these two, which hasn't been happening a lot lately. They were very well-matched and really refreshing to watch. I liked how supportive they were of each other in every way.

That was a nice raft they built at the end, too.

I loved their raft. The skull in front and the palm fronds in the back -- that was one fancy raft!

They were a great pair. I really prefer to see people work together and support each other rather than bicker and belittle the entire time.

Totally agree, the episodes where they get along are far more enjoyable. If I wanted to watch people who hate each other, there are plenty of other reality show offerings for that. Give us more friendliness, producers!
