S09.E04: The 2003 Approximation

I really like that Amy appears to still be willing to be friends with Sheldon, with no leading him on whatsoever.  She does genuinely care for him.   I thought it spoke volumes that he mentioned her marrying better than him, because usually he has that "No one is better/smarter than me" arrogance that Temperance Brennan has.

Raj is also not a good roomie for Sheldon because Raj has a dog. You think Sheldon would tolerate that? Yes, he had cats, but believe me, a dog and a cat are nothing alike as far as being indoor pets.

Sheldon did not fight the move.

Yeah I suppose technically it's true but at the end when he's practically celebrating their caving? It felt like he was in fact fighting the move but pretending not to (at least to this viewer). I'm tired and exhausted of this continuous Sheldon wins junk and in this particular storyline it just makes no sense.

Penny and Leonard are married and it is way past time to shake things up a bit with the living arrangements. Friends managed to survive splitting up the Rachel/Monica and Joey/Chandler roommate setup (I still laugh at Monica saying I have to live with a boy!).

Why can't Sheldon live alone? Or why can't the guy who has the comic book store move in?

I don't think they've written themselves into a corner with the Penny/Leonard marriage because it was time to either get married or break up for good. Them being married and living across the hall from Sheldon still would allow for plenty of comedy. The writers just have to be willing to let Leonard move in with his damn wife.

I fear I am just over Sheldon and that's probably why I disliked his nonsense in this episode. Well his nonsense this season and most of last.

Kind of like how Penny is too good looking for Leonard and Bernadette is too good looking for Howard. It's definitely male nerd fantasy.

While I agree that Melissa Rauch is too good-looking for Simon Helberg, Johnny Galecki is a homunculus hottie and certainly in Kaley Cuoco's league.

If Sheldon is so very miserable and abandoned without Amy, why cant he ask her to marry him? I don't recall that she is aware of the ring from the previous eppy. We, the viewers, saw it, but did Amy? And good on Amy for not caving when Shelly asked her to move in with him. Years before, I think she would have jumped at that offer... and then subsequently found herself frustrated and sleeping in the 2nd bedroom that used to be Leonard's.

I find Raj way hotter than Emily.... as leagues go, I mean.

Well as Mary Cooper would say, "there is a Jack for every Jill".  I don't see hottie when I see Johnny Galecki or Leonard, to me he looks like the nice kid down the street who would shovel your driveway for you.  And there's nothing wrong with that :).

Because it wouldn't solve the main issue between them: Amy is emotionally drained from having gone out of her way to accommodate to his every quirk/neurosis while she got hardly anything back. That's bad enough but Sheldon is also not aware of the major imbalance in their relationship. To be fair even tiny commitments can come across as major sacrifices to him so he may think they're in balance. But they are not - and not even the One Ring can change that.

And Sheldon hasn't made any move to try to determine what the issues are or how to fix them. So far, it's just him still being obnoxious and demanding to have things his way. Further proving Amy's argument.
