I think John is the closest thing to a floater this season. He hasn't won an HOH, and he's gone from alliance to alliance, depending on who's in power. He was with Becky/ADC, then he joined up with Steve and the Austwins, then he switched over to Steve and Vanessa. Then he went back to Austin for a few hours before being convinced by Vanessa to blindside Austin.

The only non-floatery thing John did was hitch his wagon to Clelli as they were collectively breathing their last breath. That was so bizarre.

Has Julie not been paying attention to how the game works all these seasons? She told us early on that Liz and Austin were safe from eviction after not being put on the block. My immediate presumption was that she was accidentally giving away knowledge of what happened in the veto comp, but apparently she was just clueless.

I'm surprised that Vanessa made the worse of the two picks she could have made for her game, but her response to Austin's comment suggested that she was pretty pessimistic about her chances of winning so maybe didn't care.

Every year the HGs talk about how gross the floor gets and they all wear shoes or socks or slippers 24/7, and so it's just disgusting that he's always barefoot.

So they redecorate this crazy set each summer and film a tv show there and they don't periodically clean it, or make the HGs clean it?

Also, what's with Steve and all the hugging? It's like he just discovered girls or something...

I think some people are just huggers.  I'm not a hugger and I'd never survive on BB with all the hugging going on there.  If I bump into the most casual of acquaintances at the store whom I haven't seen in a while, they lean in for the HUG.  Same thing at work.  If someone is leaving for another job, they have to go around giving everyone a HUG.  I hate being hugged by a non-family member. Hate it, hate it, hate it.  And even in our family, we do it rarely.  Whatever happened to just shaking hands as greetings.  And as a germaphobe, I wish we'd do what the Japanese do -- simply bow to each other.

In this game, I've always felt like Floaters were players who "floated" between multiple alliances. I never felt like Steve did that, really. Although my memory is spotty, and I could be wrong. I'm sure if I am wrong, one of you will let me know! :)

Way, way back in the early seasons, the house always divided into two obvious alliances: the "cool kids" and the "outcasts." The term "floater" originally applied to HGs who were "floating" between the two alliances - working with whichever one was in power. Jun, in Season 4, was the epitome of the original floater.

Somehow in her infinite wisdom, Rachel sort of changed the definition of "floater" to someone who never won comps. I really don't think she understood where the term came from originally, but her whole strategy consisted of winning comps, period.

We no longer have these quick and obvious divides among the house into two clear alliances because of all the twists and shenanigans Allison Grodner has pulled over the years. Now it's all about secret alliances and nobody ever seems to wise up and try to target them. Or in some cases, even notice they're there.

Going by the original definition, it's actually Vanessa who's been the biggest floater this season, especially when it got down to the final five. She was drifting between the Austin/Liz alliance and (what she perceived as) the Steve and John alliance.

It is SO disgusting that I say, out loud in the announcer's voice, 'Previously on PIG Brother' every time I watch.

Really?  I'm always a little surprised how low the clutter level is, especially with when the house is fuller.  And that the clear glass bathroom sinks aren't caked in toothpaste and soap scum.  I have a pretty good tv and never notice dirt.  The pool and spa look spotless, though they must have pros come do those.

Poor Julie looked like she might fall off her chair in trying to get as far away from him as possible.

My impression is that Austin is physically imposing. He looked huge next to Julie, and on top of that, he was angry. So, I felt that she was momentarily intimidated.

The HGs are responsible for cleaning the house, and they rarely if ever mop. The house doesn't look too gross on TV because production comes in on Thursdays and makes it look TV-ready, but I doubt they scrub the floors. But I don't really know, I'm just pretty sure I've heard former HGs talk about the filthy floor.

I will never believe that anyone or anything intimidates Julie Chen!! My disgust with Austin is at deep enough levels that I choose to believe that she was just afraid he might get skin grease or stink on her. Maybe I'm projecting, though.

Sadly, here's what Steve has to look forward to during his HOH reign...

I don't know, turtle.  Those lucite floors in the HOH room and the dark laminates in the downstairs are gleaming.  I can believe it gets gross over the course of a week with 12+ of them in there, if production only mops weekly, though.  And I can believe these age of people would gripe about the filth level before breaking out a mop themselves.

What am i missing here in the HOH comp? the winning number was 2800 seconds.  JMac guesses 3600, Steve guessed 601.  At no time did Julie say guess the correct # without going over.  Whoever is closest wins right?  Isnt Jmac closer?  I watched a # of times and there was no rule about going over.

please someone explain

Actually, that is precisely what Julie said before the tiebreaker started (just rewatched to confirm).

I'm sorry, but you are wrong.  She said "The person that comes the closest without going over wins.  If you both go over, then the person that is the closest wins."  Why would this show be on bravotv.com when it is a CBS show?  I just rewatched my dvr seconds ago, I have no doubt I am right, I'm not sure what you are watching to think otherwise.

Yep. This is exactly what I heard last night too.
