Among the several things happening to open up Super Bowl Week, Roger Goodell squashes any theory about the Champions Getting Favorable Treatment from Officiating.

To compare or contrast from the above, the grass is not green, the sky isn't blue, and blood isn't red.  Plus, corn isn't yellow, Christmas is July 25, New Year's Day falls on March 12 24 times within a 28-Year Period, and the Buffalo weather is so gorgeous year round

Esp since I read the Referee of the Chiefs/Bills game has been suspended due to numerous missed calls against the Chiefs.

How do you square that, Mr. Goodell?

Apparently, the story that the ref was suspended is not true.

Come on, don't try to let something stupid like "the facts" interrupt our narrative about how the league is rigged.

Fear not, the narrative works either way.

If the ref had been suspended, it's proof that the refereeing is rigged, because this ref was caught and punished.

If the ref had not been suspended, it's proof that the league is rigging the games because it's not stopping the referees.

Missed calls happen all the time since the sport is so fast and umpires are human. The fact that there were two big missed calls despite video replay makes me curious why this system is in place if it’s not going to be beneficial. No way the NFL is going to admit they were wrong, and unfortunately nothing will change.

100 percent.  The fact is the folks at home are going off of replay speed as opposed to actual speed.  They're going to get stuff wrong; everybody makes mistakes.  As for the league's admittance, that's not a big deal.  I'd prefer they don't admit wrongdoings, as it'll change nothing anyway.

While the preceding paragraph labels me as a hypocrite due in large part to my post up-thread, it's still an issue across the NFL, let alone Kansas City.  The champions have benefited (I think Jason McIntyre had posted stats about it, especially the postseason).  It may be annoying since the legacy calls help pimp the face of a dynasty, but that's been going on forever.  Furthermore, and to be fair here, at least most of the teams don't do enough.  They're not very good; they tend to do the bare minimum.

Just leave no doubt next time.  Easier said than done, but to be fair, while the officials make mistakes, so do the players & coaches

I can't remember if when greatness gets the call today if that gets disclosed prior to prime time hours or not.  I think no but after the move from Saturday to Thursday.  Meanwhile, the season awards probably get met with a half ton of criticism.

Those decisions might not be as excessively as what looks like favorable decisions for Kansas City but it will make for better debates than the ones I have been recently hearing.

For example, Patrick "officially" passing Tom as the GOAT.  How about, hell no?!

Eli didn't make it.

But Sterling Sharpe and Antonio Gates did.

He'll get there eventually, although maybe not next year since he'll look worse compared to Brees (pretty much guaranteed to get in) and Rivers (pretty much guaranteed to not).

We also saw the other limit of playoff power since Vinateri didn't get in.  Still think he'll make it one day.

that was a rough show.   For a multibillion dollar organization, the NFL put on a terribly run show.

teleprompter problems, bad graphics, the camera on the wrong guy during the HOF names, the lame lame lame skits.   Just poorly run.

the only thing they got right was getting Virginia McCaskey into the In Memoriam segment.   You know that tape was cut weeks ago, the would have had to edit her in AND adjust the run time to make it fit the music.

That was the worst since they came back aft the Pandemic.

I miss Steve Harvey's comedic timing and take downs.  The hosts & presenters were mostly awkward as hell, not funny, and the teleprompter reading was so bad.

They did the 2020 (Feb 2021) ones that way.  Harvey was in one location and while he wasn't fed by having an audience, he did well.  Then they would have someone in another zoom announce nominees & winners, the winners on screen accepting from a third location.  It went fairly smoothly and was far less awkward.
