Without them he probably would have been fired a few years ago. He is not one of those coaches who makes a team better. He is one of those coaches who's team makes me him look good. Or at least not bad. Taylor is under contract. So unless they give him the Marvin Lewis treatment, they'll wait until it ends before moving on. Speaking of Lewis, while he didn't win any big games as the HC, he never had Burrow & Chase. They probably would've been a 14-15 win team since Marvin is one of the best defensive minds in the sport Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3173-nfl-thread/page/579/#findComment-8547838

Fukui San January 7 Share January 7 In the offseason when Daboll was hired, I remember being certain that the Giants job was by far the worst open coaching position of that offseason, as the roster and team structure was so far away from being competitive. And then they had that surprising playoff season right off the bat. Which was fun for their fans I'm sure but perhaps it was the worst possible thing that could have happened to the Giants as it led them to extend Daniel Jones and treat him like an actual franchise QB when by now we can all agree that he was not and he was never going to be one. Just looking from the outside, I still think Daboll is a good coach, and that the organization screwed him more than vice versa. I could be wrong, though. Were I the Patriots and if he were available, I'd certainly at least interview him. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3173-nfl-thread/page/579/#findComment-8548146

Carey January 8 Share January 8 To be honest, I don't think Vegas should have removed the interim tag. The Raiders sort of had to as people like Crosby loved him. It was a breath of fresh air after what they had to go through in 2023. Unlike Kansas City in 2011-2012, this one made sense since he was a great leader. It sucks for Antonio but right now I don't know if he's ready, but I think he has a better chance to excel elsewhere. The situation was through no fault of his own. I think in an easier division with either a decent QB or offensive coordinator he'll be fine as a head coach. Right now, that's not the case without those. Pete Carroll was dismissed after one year. I think Pete did okay over most of the 3 decades that followed his New York stint. Also, it's the Raiders. The number of people that they've dismissed exceeds the Cowboys playoff win total going back to a time not too long ago. In addition, it's a division with Reid & Mahomes, Harbaugh & Herbert, and Payton & Nix. Might be best off resetting since it's take more than a minute to win there. Tom Brady can have all the success he wants as well as an input. It wouldn't be a total surprise if, within the AFC West and after the 2025 NFL Draft, the first (head) coaching change made is by the Las Vegas Raiders. Not that the powers that be understand, but it is still just a game, played by people, who are more important than the game and are required for the game to take place. The area in which SoFi stadium is located will all but certainly be fine in terms of not being threatened by fire, so just in terms of that specific location it would come down to air quality (all this smoke on top of our usual crap) by Monday, but Inglewood doesn't exist in a bubble -- we have four active fires, zero percent contained, in the greater Los Angeles area, and one of them just 15 miles away is the most devastating the county has ever seen. Tying up resources, traffic, water usage, etc. Is that worth whatever revenue a playoff game would bring to the city? If you're going to move it to AZ, say that now. And I love how the Chargers pledged $200,000 to relief efforts. That's like me saying I'll toss a quarter in this bucket. I'm in the flats of North Hollywood and am OK at the moment, too, but there is that feeling of "where's the next one going to be?" in the back of the mind. The wind dying down (finally) is the most important first step to starting to get control over these blazes, but it's been just terrifying and insane in its suddenness, unpredictability, and speed. I also want to say that while it's been a very scary day-plus and will probably be scary for another few days, it's vital to remember that the fires will eventually be extinguished, and we will get through this and rebuild/recover. Carey January 11 Share January 11 Man, I really, really hope that the Chargers do not "mess it up today". Because if they do, there's no reason to continue the AFC side of the playoffs. Usually Harbaugh run teams don't botch things in an epic way. Usually it's the opposite. When it happens it's usually against the very best. So I think Los Angeles will be fine, but it still is the Chargers. If they do crumble, I'll feel free to advance Kansas City to their 3 consecutive Super Bowl. No reason not to pencil them in before any other games come & go. Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3173-nfl-thread/page/579/#findComment-8552114

Just a slugfest (possibly literally) Until proven otherwise, both will be confirmed. However, more one sided (and not in favor of Pittsburgh); this isn't the 2004-2014 era Steelers/Ravens where it was just that. However, the weather isn't great so who knows. It's not going to matter whether it's close or not sadly (when it comes to winning and losing). Which is the case in the playoffs, obviously. 40 minutes ago, merylinkid said: There are no ties in the playoffs. So someone from the Chargers-Texans game will advance. And that's all I am going to say about that game. I should mention that the Chargers advancing could still result in Kansas City as a Super Bowl bound team. It's just that (IMO) Houston winning basically gives the Chiefs yet another week off to prepare for a game against a better team. Should the Bolts escape, that would result in KC finally facing a division opponent in the postseason for the first time in the Mahomes Era. It should be a more competitive, physical game, which might give the Bills/Ravens winner a break (and a chance) playing a sort of wounded Chiefs team. For your information: For Super Bowl purposes, should Detroit advance on the NFC side, the only way the league can have something that's happened four times since 1966 is for Houston to advance on the AFC side. That last part is not happening so there will be a chance next year unless the Lions win 2 more games. Still, I'd love to see a new team win even if it means one of the 2 have been to the Super Bowl in the past. 6 minutes ago, roamyn said: No they just cheat.
