CBB16 (2015): Again?!

Recommended Posts

It's not until about August, but there are spoilers already, suggesting a UK vs. US theme (because that worked so well in January), with both Hulk Hogan and Janice Dickinson representing the stars and/or stripes. OY VEY.

Ugh.  They must go out of their way to get the most embarrassing, cray-cray American celebrities they can find.  You'd think the UK had never forgiven us for the American Revolution and the War of 1812!

Yes, that's the theme for the summer 2015 edition of Celebrity Big Brother (UK), which starts August 26.  I personally think it's just a tad silly, if not outright redundant, since we've had American celebs competing on the show in years past.

I can hardly wait to see which American crazies have been recruited for this edition, though.  Has anyone heard any rumors?

EDIT:  Immediately after I created this thread, I saw that the mod had already created one for this edition.  Please feel free to delete this thread or merge it with the existing one, and accept my apologies for having started it!  *blushing*

It's been confirmed that it's US v. UK this time, and it starts on August 26.  I just saw the advert for it on YouTube.

I personally think it's a bad idea to have this theme.  If anything they need to bring real celebs from the US, not reality "stars" and awful ones at that.  I did enjoy last years (summer version) line-up. We are going from Gary Busey to Janice Dickinson and Hulk Hogan?  LOL

The trailer I saw for the show was Emma and Rylan acting like posh Brits sipping teas.  Ug.  Already setting up the stereotypes, proper Brits vs obnoxious Americans. I always enjoyed  CBB UK until they started the American stereotyping.  Of course the American celebs they get fit the stereotypes perfectly.  I guess us (Americans) make it too easy for the CBB producers.  We are such an easy target.  It would be nice if at least one of the Americans was articulate and intelligent.

I liked CBB UK back when it was just a bunch of crazy celebrities including different nationalities.  Unless there are celebrities that I really want to see, I may give this one a miss.

I don't know -- I enjoy watching it for the snarky comments on YouTube (because James Jordan can bring the snark regarding the show like nobody's business on Twitter).  Besides, I never could resist a good trainwreck!

I thought CBB 2006 is/was the best to date. I think the only ones from US were Dennis Rodman and Tracy Bingham.I knew they wouldn't win, nor did I want them to.  Chantelle deserved the win.IMO    Her and Preston were too cute together. It's a shame they didn't last.

Well, the good news is that the rumor regarding Hulk Hogan was just that -- a rumor.  The bad news is that as an American viewer, I am completely embarrassed both by and for Team USA and am cheering hardcore for Team UK.  Is that a bad thing?

I haven't seen Ep1 yet (or even read rumors), but I already know from the theme that this is going to be SUCH shit. The cast is sure to be purposefully cast rotten Apples from the US, so that the UK public can get behind villainizing the Americans as easily as possible. Also its sure to be a summer filled with shallow cliches of "Americanism" in terms of the set, the challenges, etc.  This is going to be bad. Really bad.  American viewers will feel horror at how the nation and nationals are being portrayed, but Brits should probably feel horror at how far their stupid show is willing to go just to get some easy targets.

Ah well, more after I watch Ep1.

Aaaaaaaannnnnnd... the very first moment, with "The Rocky Theme" confirms the fears almost immediately. And cheerleaders. Oh brother.

By the way, given that Americans can't even vote, how are they going to preserve the illusion that there's some kind of contest?  One would expect an American to go every single time there's an eviction--especially when they hype this as a "war".  And this can't be compared to the Gary Busey season, where the public kept him around as a joke/irritant.

Given the Americans in the cast this go-around, that's not a bad thing.  Look, I love my country with all of my heart, but after seeing how gross the American women are and how annoying the American men are (Scoop apparently doesn't have an inside voice), I'm firmly on Team UK!

Thoughts so far ....

Sherrie: Inoffensive, could be fun I suppose.
Fatman Scoop: Likeable enough so far.
Natasha: Possible winner but I did laugh at her claims of Atomic Kitten being more successful than they actually were.
Austin: Nice to look at but he'll grate if he doesn't dial it back a lot.
Gail: Another possible winner to be honest. I really like her.
Chris: Kind of dull to be honest.
Jenna: Ugh, hideous tattoos. Kind of meh so far.
Stevi/Chloe: He'll grate, she might be okay in small doses.
Farrah: An early exit I think.
James: Clearly loves him, decent totty but not a winner though.
Tila: Bonkers but possibly fun maybe.
Daniel: Meh.

I have trouble being Team Anybody, when the show's producers went out of their way to cast Americans that would shame even the worst of us. For me it's about the crassness of them deliberately going out of their way to show the US through an irredeemable filter.

I mean their idea of America is not one, not two, but THREE porn stars all in the same cast. THREE.

Jenna of the group might actually be admirable for her business acumen (she's worth around $30m), except for her seemingly bad decision to go in there acting deliberately villaineous/scornful of the British. Does not compute--except to say I suspect she was put up to that by the producers.

Farrah Abraham is a pimple on the ass of America. An outright blatant example of the worst things in America rolled into one person. Getting pregnant as a Teen? In the real world usually simply a sad but not evil thing. But in the world of "Teen Mom" it becomes about exploitation. Then she goes one step further by deciding to become a porn star--and a really low rent one.  Here's the cover. Note it's #2 in the series, if you had any illusions it was a one-off. The cover itself doesn't have any nudity, and I've blurred the one dirty word on the cover:

3o96sdQ.jpg

Tila Tequila is even a step worse. Starting out just as a gross parody of a model, she then became this cliche of a promiscuous bag of disease who would sleep with anyone and make a TV program about that. Then she (literally) got some kind of brain damage and turned into this:

1996drc9dxfshpng.png

This is our "representative" to the UK.  Someone who took drugs, got brain damage, and developed multiple personalities, one who's named "Hitla" and who tweeted about how cool a guy ol' Adolph was (and posted that photo--I know it's clearly photoshopped but that's not "fan art" that was put out by Tequila herself). And yes, she did also do porn eventually (I believe it started with one of those fake sex tapes that actually got sold to people, but eventually like Farrah she apparently just kept doing them), after her career went down the toilet.

Even that rapper is a weird bit of troubling casting. He seems harmless enough, but Grammy or not, he's more than obscure--he seems to barely speak English and it's laughable the Brits are presenting him as "famous in America".  With who?  His immediate family?

This Austin person is famous somewhere, I'm sure.  It's not the US, I bet.  He was clearly cast because he puts out "ugly American" vibes by the boatload, albeit the "I hate my own country" version of that.

And then we have the drug fiend Baldwin brother--the one who almost had a career because of Homicide Life on the Street, but left that job and did nothing but shove lines of coke up his nose for a decade after that.  Another lovely person to choose to present as representative of the US (deliberately--so the show can villify the whole nation).

When the often vile Janice Dickinson coming in will almost be a relief in comparison?  You know it's bad.

Eww, thanks for the warning about those American creatures (I refuse to call them "people").  I guess I'll have to take a shower after every episode now.  It's a good thing I've had my shots!

Somebody needs to tell Janice that high definition is NOT her friend.  From about mid-distance, she's actually still rather pretty, but up close?  She's a reminder of why plastic surgery and Botox are generally BAD ideas!

And I see that Tila didn't even last a full day before she was removed from the house:  http://news.yahoo.com/tila-tequila-removed-celebrity-big-brother-reportedly-due-035506040.html;_ylt=AwrSbDxhOOFVQ7YA34pXNyoA;_ylu=X3oDMTEyNzg3Mm84BGNvbG8DZ3ExBHBvcwMxBHZ0aWQDQjAzNDFfMQRzZWMDc2M-

I know that there are truckloads of d through z listers they could have chosen from......this collection of misfits is such a dismal representation of America. I'm so glad that trash heap Tila is gone --- one down.

Farrah is giving me cluster headaches. Her teeth must be painful (I remember that Anna Nicole Smith used to complain about her fake teeth, and it was one of her excuses to get more benzos.....Farrah might be on that plan). If her behavior isn't being affected by drugs, then she is even more mentally unwell than she seems. I mean, Janice is crazy, but at least I can have a laugh about some of the things she says/does.

Scoop seems okay, but I didn't know him at first -- and I loved some of the songs he was in back in the 00's.

Daniel Baldwin must be having a tough time without a phone to send dick pics to some of his housemates (flashback to his short stay in Celebrity Rehab).

It really is weird when BB has someone like Scoop on--someone who had a #1 in the UK but who's success in his own country was marginal at best. Scoop in the US is one of those totally unknown background people who worked with far more famous folk, but who nobody in the US knows in the least.  Plus, it's funny that he describes himself as a DJ. The man is barely understandable.

Jenna is a clever woman, but I don't think many of us are surprised that's the case.

Farrah is even more achingly stupid than I think most of us assumed.  I'm thinking she's borderline on being mentally handicapped. Whatever they call those folks who have IQs higher than 80, but barely.

Janice is in full Janice Beast Mode. It certainly makes for potent viewing.  Evil, and yet funny all at once.

The UK cast are boring boring boring.  Except for the comedy act called "Stevi and Chloe".  They're putting on the darndest show, where they go into the garden or the bedroom alone, make sure they hear the cameras whirring (indicating they're being paid attention to) and read pre-memorized segments from bad Romance Novels and pretend they're legitimately saying this stuff to each other. Chloe is a well known fake from several reality shows (X-Factor, and the UK's version of The Face, and probably more I don't know), and Stevi proved on X-Factor himself that he was willing to put on a big fake act to be famous, so I take this as it's given--Famewhorism at it's purest most potent distillation.  Showmances get airtime, they know this, so they decided to put on the most over the top showmance in history. It's brilliant.  And I feel sorry for people online who don't seem to get what they're doing.

I watched them on their other shows, and they were incredibly cheesy. But darn, I was hoping they were truly lovebirds, the odd couple that they are (or who they want us to believe they are). What a bummer.

Farrah is a piece of shit but I think Natasha was looking for a row with her from the moment she introduced herself.

Agreed, and I'd do the same thing - which is a liability in this "game." I guess? I never really know what any of this is when everyone is this unlikeable.  Those DRs are murder.

Link to comment

I liked Jenna at the beginning but now I'm over her. I think she's taking the game way too seriously and I don't like the little mean girl pairing her and Farrah have become. I do have to applaud her for being the only housemate able to control Farrah though.

I like Scoop and although I don't trust him, I do like Austin also.

The UK are boring compared to the US but I think the reason for that is because they're not as out there and over the top. I do think they're more likeable then the American side though and I really have to praise Bobby Davro for taking the high road with Farrah's epic tantrum towards him the other night. (The entire fight was manipulated by Jenna who then stepped in to ~calm Farrah down).

Stevi and Chloe Jasmine are revolting and I love Gail for her reactions to them alone. My favourite quote of hers to Chloe is still "I love the mop but I don't dry hump it all the time". Chloe Jasmine is an annoying little bitch as showcased of her nomination of and reaction to Daniel leaving and also her shit stirring between he and Janice. Stevi just comes off as a sad sack.

Farrah is so mentally unhinged.  What an idiot, screaming at Big Brother in the DR. I wish BB would treat her like the tantrumming toddler she is and give her a consequence for her behavior. Something that would really be a punishment --- maybe taking away all of her cosmetics, especially the lip products. I can only imagine that she is getting along with Jenna because she wants to BE Jenna.

And Jenna's tantrums about the kosher wine.....  it's because she wants an entire bottle to herself - not just a glass. There's nothing wrong with following your religious convictions, but the booze-greed is the motive, not the kosher status of the grapes. Farrah made sure that she poured herself a glass - up to the rim.  Two fools. Plus, Jenna seems to be confusing the style of BBUS with BBUK. She's all about competition, creating divisions, and evictions. She needs to cool it on the cutthroat business; it gets old. Then again, I'm someone who doesn't watch BBUS because of the non-stop eviction talk, rinse, repeat.

I understand Scoop's directive (in his Presidential speech) to move on and move forward, but it didn't seem to help anyone -- he just made his orders and walked away.

Janice gives me so many laughs.....  in the diary room, claiming that Austin mispronounces her name on purpose, and then going through various pronunciations ("and in French, it's Jahn-eeese; in Italian, it's Jan-eetza...). Then after Janice nominated

Gail

, and she told her "that's okay; crack on." I thought it was hilarious the way Janice said, "I don't understand what that means, but my next choice is..."  I find her to be a hoot.

How did Sherree get away with just giving "you're American" as an eviction excuse? I was waiting for BB to make her say more.

Huge hand-claps for Bobby Davro tonight. "No amount of lip gloss will disguise the ugliness that lives inside you." I hate Farrah.

I couldn't decide which was funnier last night, the talent show or Farrah and Jenna's reaction to it.  And I can't wait to see the smug look on their faces evaporate when they find out that the people they couldn't nominate fast enough are the very people they unwittingly granted immunity!

Oh, by the way, Scoop, it's a GAME.  You don't want to manipulate the Witches into giving you immunity?  Fine -- just don't play the "integrity" card and then complain when you're evicted after you've basically nominated yourself by default.  I won't miss your loud, talentless, inarticulate ramblings one bit.

Bobby for the win!

Watching the smug smirks wiped off their faces tonight was just something of beauty. They're are complete wenches. Jenna is two faced and Farrah is a moron. It was so obvious midway through the tower scene that they were all playing up in their bad mouthing of the "Jarrah" but of course the two idiots are so self centred they'd never see that. God they're so dumb.

Ugh, Stevi and Chloe. They haven't really bothered me until now. The constant pawing, smooching, and old-timey soap opera dialogue was easy to ignore, but their weirdness is reaching new levels. Jumping into the pool to thank the British public. Amped up fake crying episodes. The mankini/wig bath scene. Chloe's muppet voice vs. baby talk voice. They need to stop it now.

I wonder how they'd even coordinate stopping it. A whisper session low enough that the cameras don't catch it? Hiding in the one corner of the toilet without mikes for a few minutes?

Really they both know they have nothing else to offer short of this horrible soap opera/bad romance novel.

The funniest bit will be them trying to defend this as real outside of the house. You'd have to be a class A liar to do so when questions are asked head on.

Bit on the Side last night erupted into chaos with the panel removed from the set and then taken off air 10 minutes early. It probably wasn't the brightest move to have Aisleyne on the panel with Farrah (and Jenna and Janice). Apparently these dignified women got into a fight. Wine was thrown, then a glass, Janice tried to block Farrah with a chair and the other panellist, Vicky, was hit by flying glass and had to be checked out in hospital. The audience have been told not to speak about it, (presumably pending the police investigation and any court case that might follow).

I don't usually watch BOTS, but I did check it out because I'd heard about this fight.  The actual fight was never shown; it was only briefly referred to in passing and then the rest of the time was spent talking to members of the in-studio audience.

I'll really be fine with any of Team UK winning (although my favorites are Bobby and Sherrie).  I do think a James/Austin final two would be interesting, however, just to see how far their bromance/borderline showmance will go if it's down to just the two of them.

Link to comment

I was surprised with Austin being the runner-up, too.  I expected Natasha to get that spot. But James and Austin's bromance was kind of fun to watch....I like to think that it is a genuine friendship and not the master manipulation that some people have speculated.

Ugh, the BOTS issue. The producers knew they were playing with fire by putting Aisleyne and Farrah on the same show. So, they got what they wanted. Too bad Janice got caught up in it -- she's nutty, but she's not malicious. Last night, I read that Vicki Michelle IS pressing charges. What a mess.
