I wondered why he bit his arm, and at first thought he was maybe trying to get demon blood somehow (though it seemed odd), and then the reveal of his devil's trap, and I smiled. Well played soulless Sam, well played. Also notable: (paraphrase) Dean: "I'm standing in pee." Sam, looking down: "You're lucky." Dean: "Yikes."

Oh yeah. Jared did a good job there. If there was ever any question left after him letting Dean get turned into a vampire - and there wasn't much - that pretty much cemented that things were really wrong in Sammyland without his soul. We had "amusing, witty" soulless Sam the episode before, but this was a nice, sobering reminder that in reality, soulless Sam was not really all that cuddly.

Although I'm not entirely happy with the opening of Season 6, I can't kill it either.  The moments with Lisa and Ben, I love.  I also like how they introduced the family but some parts I hate.  Like Dean suddenly not being able to fight after taking one year off.  I never bought that.  They should have gone with a competition and kept that going until Dean realized that something isn't normal.  I also liked that for the first time, Dean didn't choose his brother but wanted to stay with Lisa and Ben.  I knew it wouldn't last but it was nice to see a new response.  I think the ideas were great, but it just needed to be fleshed out and really think about impact of the reactions they put in place.

Caged Heat...how I mourn your early demise.  Yes, you had that horrible misogynistic torture scene, but there was soooo much to love. The PIZZA Man. Megstiel. Sam feeding Cas the Raiders of the Lost Arc plot. Meg being a BadAss and killing the Hell Hounds. Then her laughing because Dean was behind Demon!Christian.  Plus Dean was all manner of hot threatening Grandpa Slime.  And did I mention that Cas laid one on Meg because he learned it from the Pizza Man!  And she felt "so clean".  It was awesome.  *sigh*  Enjoy your time with Crowley, you kinky episode you.

Well during the rehearsals I think she was there.  Dean must of protected me after the show, rats I didn't even get to thank him.  they say a terrible rehearsal makes a good show, notice I didn't say great!  But middle school kids are cocky and they think they can pull it off even if you don't know your lines.  It's why the Meta Eps do have some parts that I love.

Well I kind of did when I talked about why I wouldn't kill it.  :)  But I will always love Lisa & Ben and some really good moments in this one.  But I do have a love hate relationship with it.  I hate that Dean looks like a fool in the final fight.

Caged Heat is a weird episode.  I always enjoy Meg (her 2nd version anyway) but god that torture scene--it made me feel like a bad feminist for just watching it.  And all the stuff with Grandpa Campbell never made any sense.  And I kept expecting it to throughout the season, but no...it just didn't. 

 

I'm downvoiting The French Mistake because I didn't think it quite lived up to the hype.  The boys are great in it but so much of the humor is "hollywood is lame" stuff which didn't feel super original.  It's not one of my favorite Edlund episodes. (Although Jensen's bad acting is seriously brilliant--he does exactly what Dean would believe "acting" is.).

Grampy Campbell has a way of sullying so much of S6 for me. Which then leads me to Caged Heat. Lots of good stuff stuffed into one little episode. Too much stuff, IMO and far too much Grampy Campbell.

I won't kill You Can't Handle the Truth. I really like the episode and sort of forgot about voting for it. I love the scene when Dean realizes something is most definitely wrong with Sam and I LOVED the actress playing Veritas.

Well I loved Exile on Main Street.  In terms of musical montages relevant to the story, I thought the first few minutes did a fantastic job of telling us exactly where Dean was at, with perfect lyrics from Bob Seger.  I also loved that Dean HAD a shot at 'normal'. Yes he was half out of his mind with grief for a lot of it, but I felt Lisa and Ben were so good for him.  So, that episode holds a warm place in my heart.

 

You Can't Handle the Truth, OTOH, is less warm and more funny/gut-wrenching.  Funny with the Bobby/Dean conversation regarding Tori Spelling and pedicures. But gut-wrenching when we here Dean's 'truth' regarding his belief that he's not a good father but is good at slicing throats. And then there's the brutal beat down of Sam. Which is hard to watch.  So, while the A-plot was "okay", it's what is happening with the boys that leaves you gasping at the end of this episode IMO.

I, too, enjoyed "You Can't Handle the Truth" for all of the reasons mentioned already. And I also enjoyed what the actress playing Veritas brought to the part. I loved Veritas' total belief that she was just the thing with her job - no matter how mundane the subject - because she was "truth." I also loved her indignation when she discovered Sam was lying to her. I could almost feel the "how dare he!" rolling off of her through my television. Hee. Also adding RandomMe's upvotes for "Two and a Half Men" and "Frontierland" and the downvotes for "Appointment in Samarra" so it may look like I voted twice for some things.

It's one of thos really weird episodes that logically I know is not that great, but for some reason is one of maybe three Season 6 episodes that I watched on repeat after it aired. I will always prefer Dean to Sam in looks, but Jared looks healthy here, but I'm afraid if he had to do this scene today he would look really sick.  He is getting too thin.  That said I prefer this look on Jared vs. today.  He does look Hot, but I really wanted a matching scene with Jensen.  I'm evil aren't I.  :) 

 

I'm also a cougar in this thought, but I can still appreciate fine wine.  Getting older doesn't stop those thoughts.  Now does it?
