I believe that was supposed to be one of several places to shelter those that did not evacuate and/or those that might have lost something.  Didn't think they'd use that venue if that was the plan; whatever the plan was is no longer the case.

Earlier in the week they had placed several hundred cots at the Trop which were to be for first responders, but evidently that plan changed, perhaps by the altered path of the storm? I'm just speculating on the reasoning.

Having watched a game at the Trop many years ago, and knowing that the "roof" was not much more than a great big tarp, I didn't think using it as a staging area for a storm with potential winds over 150 MPH was a good idea. I guess some people came to the same conclusion, thankfully.

I don’t understand why Ken Rosenthal thought writing a hit piece on the Padres was a good idea when he is working the series.  Also, much of what Ken wrote was gross.

While several people dislike the Yankees, I apologize for not feeling bad for it this morning.  The fact is I think I'd be perfectly fine if this New York team won eight more games.  I've love to see Cole cash & collect.  Probably could have with several of the other teams he was with, but maybe Cooperstown is in the cards as the ceiling otherwise

Game 5 of Det/Cle has been moved to 1:08 start due to a thunderstorm possibly affecting the game later..

(And because Bucks/Ducks are scheduled at 8.  LOL)

Mets/Dodgers should be fun. I don’t know how the Dodgers pulled it off with their lack of starting pitchers. Its always nice seeing Machado lose.

I just hope that more guys start saying "fuck" on the air during interviews so maybe they'll stop doing the stupid sideline interviews.

I can't say I'll be happy with any winner as there's still a 4th spot (to be claimed by Cleveland or Detroit).  While I don't hate the AL Central, I'm not going to be moved by tomorrow's winner being moved.  And neither will the "world" leaders aka PTB

That was so juvenile. Swearing on TV doesn't make you cool or edgy, it just makes you an asshole. Hard cringe.

I was already on Team Mets, but at this point I don't think I'll even bother watching if it ends up Dodgers/Yankees.

I don't think it's cool or edgy either.  However, I find the post-game/sideline "reporting" cringe.  The stupidest questions bring out the stupidest answers.  The whole effort is a waste of time and they should just not do it.  And maybe if cursing athletes gets them to stop, then curse away. Grabbing guys off the field after games so they can tell us they're taking it one game at a time and giving 110% is just dumb - IMO.

The chatting at the desk afterwards can be fun since they usually get guys who can put a couple of sentences together in a coherent manner.  I did enjoy Dave Roberts saying he's going to open a bottle of first growth Bordeaux tonight to celebrate.  I can get behind that!

And honestly, the only reason I'm leaning Dodgers here is a very close friend of mine is a fan.  And I still hate the Mets from 1969.  Although the only team I really don't want to win is the Yankees (which surprises no one here...)

I think Dave Roberts is the happiest because this win saved his job for now. Since the loss he did a great job of managing the games and bullpen, which he’s done poorly with in the last few years.

Question for Mets fans: if they muff the LCS, would there be enough hope for 2025? I don't think the Mets were going to get screwed last year until Edwin Diaz hurt himself celebrating in the WBC. I think the big concern is that they Yankees will break their title drought, because there are few things as obnoxious then Yankees fans celebrating their team.

33 scoreless innings in a row while missing four starters to injuries. Unreal. I’m sure with a bullpen game tomorrow that streak will be over, but that’s pretty incredible.

I'm going to commute to New York Comic Con this weekend. I was thinking of taking a ferry that goes from St. George to near the convention center. Now I'm thinking . . . why not commute using the MTA? Where I'd take the 7 train as part of my trip back home? I dunno . . . that seems like tempting fate, even if I just do that the one day.

Seriously, though, how many Grimaces could I possibly run into? To think "grimace" used to be considered a verb that meant something entirely different to Mets fans once.

Well, Judge’s defensive metrics aren’t great, so… sounds right to me.

Not looking great for the Mets.  I guess the only good news is that you can be down 16 in a late segment of a game but still have a chance.  Other than Tennis (and not so much Golf), I can't say the same for the other sports

Well, it's official.  The Mets got bagel-ed again.  Although there was about a zero percent chance of New York winning each of their home games, that was brutal for them.  Plus, at least more often than not, the road team following a 2-game split wins that first game.

Regardless, I have to say that 4 shutouts in 5 games is tremendous.  Especially without an entire starting rotation present in October.  Sure each individual player for Los Angeles is worth more than a quarter dozen franchises in MLB, but that's not that easy to do (allowing no runs throughout)

So, there's no ghost runner for extra innings in the postseason. This could be a while...

That's a possibility, and I love it.  That's the way it should be.  Debatable in the regular season, but not here.

Though a huge strikeout with a couple guys on means a single swing can end it.  However, all NY can do is "watch" here

BA just said that Noel's swing is something that he'll cherish forever.  Non verbatim...but that was after Clay Holmes entered the game, which is probably accurate until proven otherwise

Pretty painful outcome for New York, though mainly due to late game heroics that otherwise ends things much sooner. Plus, until proven otherwise, an outcome that in the grand scheme of things, benefits LA in a way.

That aside, although I'm for New York over Cleveland, it's pretty good that the latter won tonight.  The most important people (I suppose) want Dodgers & Yankees, but I sorta want a series.  Probably would've been better if NY won so as to wrap up things before & not (way) after LA.  Doesn't look tremendous for the Mets.

Still a tremendous ending.  Although okay that someone bageled someone else 8-0 more than anyone ever within a postseason, competition is great in sports.
