giovannif7 2,327 November 5, 2014 TVLine is reporting that USA has renewed Royal Pains for two more seasons. Seasons 7 & 8 will have 8 episodes each rather than the 13 episodes of the more recent seasons, but the pickup will take the show past the 100 episode mark. 7 Share this post Link to post
catray 688 November 27, 2014 I'm glad this show has been renewed-- despite my occasional issues, I still enjoy it! 1 Share this post Link to post
AriAu 3,267 May 21, 2015 2 weeks or so from Season premiere-I assume the media blitz is coming starting next week! Share this post Link to post
catray 688 May 24, 2015 I have started seeing some promos on USA-- nothing that really gives any hints to the upcoming season. Started June 2! 1 Share this post Link to post
prican58 882 June 3, 2015 I hardly ever watch USA because of the non stop NCIS marathons so I didn't even know RP was coming back so soon. Share this post Link to post

The previous season's finale seemed like a series finale, and I was ok with that -- but this is excellent news! It'll be sad to see another of USA's "blue skies" shows go away, though. I'm not into the grimdark stuff they're moving on to. The only consolation is that USA goes through personality changes like snakes shed skin. I can wait this one out. 3 Share this post Link to post
Aliconehead 2,128 March 11, 2016 I am also ready for this show to end, but I can help but feel nostalgic for the lighter dramas of the past. I am with Codelady about not enjoying the grim dark/grittier dramas they are now offering. There was a time that I watched all the shows that USA produced. With the end of Royal Pains, I no longer will watch any. 4 Share this post Link to post
ganesh 20,813 March 11, 2016 I won't say I no longer will watch any, but I don't think there's anything wrong with the shows from that "era". They were breezy. There's nothing wrong with that. 1 Share this post Link to post

I miss Psych and Necessary Roughness, even the earlier seasons of White Collar. 2 Share this post Link to post
BungalowSummer 357 April 21, 2016 Same here. This would be the last show. Lost interest in Suits 2 seasons ago and everything else is too dark. I miss Psych and Necessary Roughness, even the earlier seasons of White Collar. It really all started with Monk. Remember the USA slogan, "Characters Welcome"? Later on, the "blue skies filter" was added to the formula. Here's an old article that describes the network's thinking and strategy: The Writers Making “Characters Welcome” at USA Network. I don't know why they changed it. Various series' ratings will sink after a time, but I thought the concept was still sound. Did they run out of character ideas? Are the ratings for these darker shows any better over time? I've made loud complaints about some of Royal Pains' plot misfires and character silliness, but overall I've always looked forward to this summer confection. Some things they always got right: the sun, the blue skies and sea, the wacky Hamptons fashionista vibe, the money, the optimism of summer. 3 Share this post Link to post
chitowngirl 13,963 May 10, 2016 I know this is season 8, but is it really the back half of season 7? Usually a season ends at the end of summer, but it seemed like we left season 7 right in the middle of things. Share this post Link to post
