S07.E02: Smitten Like A New York Kitten

Recommended Posts

So, tonight Tammy and her girlfriend Andrea go bowling.  Tammy never complains once during the bowling, unlike last week when she complained endlessly about being at the lake.  They met on a dating app and Andrea says Tammy has the biggest heart she's ever seen.  (I guess Andrea hasn't yet experienced "mean Tammy.")  Andrea wants to meet the family, but Tammy balks because she says her family is hard to deal with.  Tammy so lacks self-awareness.

Amy goes on a date with her boyfriend Brian.  They've known each other for six weeks and he wants Amy to move in with him.  Amy is overwhelmed at home with Amanda living there for the past two months because Amanda's sons moved in a few weeks later and their friends visit as well.  It's pretty much chaos and Amy is stressed.  Brian told her he loved her after three days.  Last week, I said Brian seemed normal so far.  Now, not so much.

Tammy meets a high school friend for lunch in a restaurant.  He's gay and Tammy asks his advice on letting go of insecurities and being yourself.

Brittany talks about getting weight loss surgery.  She has diabetes and can't get it under control.  She's always had a weight problem. Brittany wants to have a baby as she only has stepchildren.  She feels it's her health that makes her unable to conceive.  (This is the most we've heard Brittany reveal about herself since she came on the show.)  Chris jokes that Brittany keeps such a neat home, she'll totally lose it with a toddler running around destroying the house.

Tammy and Amy have a Reike session.  Another producer-driven scene, no doubt.  Tammy takes it seriously, but Amy of course treats it as a joke.

Some of the family go apple picking.  Chris tells Amy she's crazy to consider moving in with a man she's known only six weeks.

Of course, there's the usual fart talking throughout the episode.

Loved Chris with all his grills, but Wow, they need Scrubbing…with new brushes. No one wants to bite down on a bristle.

That might be the most Brittany has talked in all seasons combined. I feel for her, but I wouldn’t want to start all over with a baby after raising kids,  grandkid(?) and Tammy. Especially at their ages. Major energy level difference from raising babies when you’re in your 20s vs late 30s/40s.  And now that Chris is more mobile, why get tied down with more babies?

He didn’t seem Too thrilled about her wanting WLS. He made sure to mention he still wants more plastic surgery. Sorry, Chris, it’s been about you for a while. Let Britt go first this time. She’s put up with a lot with you and your family.

Amanda might think it’s cute to bring her ‘kids’ everywhere, but those are Big Boys, one with a Big Girlfriend, all raiding the fridge every day & making laundry, etc  I’d rather have no help than that many people in my small house 24/7.  But if Amy moves that shifty tweaker into her house, she’s an idiot. Guy was shady as hell to me.

wait-weren’t the boys living in Amanda’s house? Who’s living there if they’re living with Amy?

Maybe I’m just an old prude, but I’m shocked how often they say the F word in front of the kids and in public. Is the F word just normal, now? It’s always jarring to me when I hear people say it so casually, especially in front of children. It’s just a word, I suppose but doesn’t anyone clean it up in mixed company anymore?

When I read this, the first "F word" I think of when talking about this particular show is "Fart" as this family can't go one damn episode without someone (usually Amy and/or Tammy) talkinjg about it. So that's 2 overused F words in this show lol

Brian is one rough looking 50 year old.  In the pool playing scene it looked like Amy was leaning away from him and trying not to be face to face with him.  Her boy language makes it look like she's just not that into him.

Tammy's been vindicated for complaining about Amanda's boys.  It's time for them to grow up and live on their own.

There were so many people with missing teeth in this episode.  I'm used to Tammy and Amy's dental issues but now we have Tammy's girlfriend and her friend with missing teeth too.  It makes me sad to see so many people in their age group in need to dental work.  I'm guessing none of them can afford it.

Poor Brittany.  I think her first step in dealing with her infertility should be to see a good OB/GYN but what do I know?   The way she styles herself makes it hard for me to guess her age.

I'm still waiting to see the camel bite.  In the promos we don't actually see the camel make contact.  I've read that a lot of people are skeptical that that's what really happened and the video I've seen doesn't make it clear.  It's so typical of Amy to ask about losing her hand right away.

Amanda is such a bully.  So she talks about anyone saying anything about her kids being in their house better bow to her even though it's not her house but we know how she is to anyone who goes against her in her house.  She's a big hypocrite bully!!!  I wonder if any of her sons have jobs.

The family seems very focused on the wisdom of Amy moving in with a guy so early in the relationship, with zero said about the insanity of moving her babies in with a guy so early in the relationship.  Forget that it might not work out romantically for *her*. There are men who prey on needy moms of young children looking for emotional support and the speed of this relationship is setting off zillions of red flags.

He might just be a very earnest guy who fell hard... but as a parent you just can't trust anybody that easily, because the worst possible people will zero in on the ones who do.

If nothing else, they should warn her of the custody jeopardy, because if her ex wants the kids this would be exhibit #1 in the danger of her retaining custody.

I can't figure out why these people continue to move in and out of each other's houses all the time.

For example, AMANDA....  Doesn't she HAVE a house there in Bumf*ck Kentucky already?  Why can't she just move back into her own house?  Or did she rent it out?  If so, why doesn't she have enough $$ to rent something of her own, where her giant children and their giant girlfriends can live too?

Is Chris the only one with a spare house?

Why am I watching this show??😰

The house that Tammy was living in was Amanda's old house that her ex owned.  I think Amanda was living in a rental before she moved to Florida, and had nowhere to move back to when she came back to Kentucky.

Chris bought the house next to his, and that's the house that took six months to fix up for Tammy to rent from him.   That means that Tammy, Chris, Brittany, Chris's daughter, and baby and I think a grandson Chris and Brittany have permanent custody of were all living in that tiny house.    I remember one of the other cast members said Chris had owned that yellow house for a while and hadn't done anything to fix it up until his sister needed it.  I wondered if the yellow house was supposed to be fixed up for the daughter and her child to live in?

From what other family members said over the years, Tammy lived with all of the siblings at various times, and lasted six months or less with all of them.    She also was tossed out of several assisted living centers for bad behavior.  There's a reason she ended up at the rehab center hours away from her relatives, in another state.

Me too @goofygirl. My thought is that it's a great guilty pleasure. It costs no $$, is calorie free and makes for great snark.

I wondered why Brittney quickly dismissed the idea of weight loss medication in favor of surgery.  Really?  I would think an honest attempt at something besides surgery would be ideal.  Plus, Ozempic can seriously help type II diabetes.  I know multiple people who have gotten excellent results.  Got their blood sugar down, loss major weight and are active again.

Something is off with Tammy.  Man, she can be brutal to her family.  I could envision becoming estranged from someone who acts like her.  Totally ridiculous.

Tammy hooking up with someone who doesn’t appear to prioritize health is concerning.  That was an issue with Caleb too.

It's not just with her family.  I hated the way Tammy talked to the production staff on the prior episode when they asked her about her relationship with her family after she felt alienated during their trip to the lake.  She answered in such a nasty tone, "I said I don't want to talk about it!" and I wanted them to shoot back at her, "But if you want to be PAID you WILL talk about it!"  Her new boo will find out pretty quickly how NOT nice and down to earth she really is.  And she talks about how ugly she feels without the skin removal when it's actually her toxic attitude that makes her ugly.

So much this.  I'm sure it's in her contract to not only allow them to film her but to participate in the talking head interviews.  Not only did she refuse to talk about something significant that was filmed and would no doubt make the final cut for the show, she was extremely rude about it.  I had high hopes for her last season when she seemed to be mellowing in her attitude, but that apparently didn't last long.
