S03.E15: The Most Beautiful, Fierce, Smart, Powerful Creature In The Whole World

I was not here for the Angie storyline.  I know people have complicated emotions surrounding parents, but an abuser is an abuser.  And I don't care if the person is your mother, she pimped you out at 5 is the reason you are a drug addict have so many emotional scars.  I don't feel any sympathy for the woman.  Franklin said how I felt.  I actually FF'd through most of that.

I think this is supposed to represent the closure that Will needs regarding Marco.  Yeah he won't ever forget but maybe the mother's forgiveness on the layaway plan might allow Will to begin to forgive himself.  Also, Diego broke my heart.  That little actor was so good and cute as a button.  His plan to shoot Will and then go do his history homework was sad and a little funny at the same time.

I really enjoyed the Mandy and Evelyn show.  They were fun.  Add the hotel manager to the list of yet another really good guest actor who took a very small role and made it pop.  He was way more interesting that La Falconess.

I liked the color block scene changes, seemed reminiscent of one of the old tv shows.. Mannix maybe?

Really enjoyed the Faith/Ormewood team up.  Fun banter and yeah Ormewood isn't all gloom and doom about the tumor. I like they decided to go this route with him.

Betty got two outfit changes this episode, both very chic.

It reminded me of the opening credits to It Takes a Thief, but it's very much a look of a particular era. I am pretty sure multiple series had the color block scene changes or had something like it in the opening credits.

I've been trying to figure this one out too. My first thought was Name of the Game, but Wild Wild West also did a similar thing, except with animation and interactive blocks. I never watched Mannix, but looking at the opening credits on YouTube, I think that one is the closest.

I looked it up, too. :D

I agree that Mannix is the closest (that I came across), but I don't think the show was specifically referencing that. There's nothing in particular "Mannix-y" about this episode.

Didn’t Love American Style have that kind of style, too?  That could relate to Mandy Getting Her Groove back.

I totally called the “pregnant” woman as the criminal. There was no other reason to have a random pregnant character, if she wasn’t going to prove important to the plot. Chekhov’s belly, so to speak.

Before there was an actual crime, I thought it was some kind of homage to White Lotus, with the pregnant person and the resort.

He was in a series I really really liked  - Somebody Somewhere

I loved that series. And I loved him in it. Everyone in it was stellar.

And here I thought that, from the title, the episode was going to be about Betty.  😊

I did too!

I was trying to place it too - I guess it was just a 70s vibe.

The emotions of abused people can be awfully complicated. So I didn't really object to Angie's reactions, but  I couldn't see it myself. Had a parent that wasn't even close to as bad as Angie's mom, and when we were done, we were DONE. But  then, maybe I'm a cold person.

Anyway, I liked this episode, even with the trauma. I especially liked the mother finding out her little boy was treated tenderly at the end of his life and didn't know he was dying.

You're not cold. Honestly, that's maybe/probably a healthier way to deal with this kind of thing but I agree with you, I don't have a problem with Angie's response. Angie is such a complex character. She is so damn interesting to me. I've never understood the overwhelming hate she gets from the fandom. I do think some of it must come from people thinking about the book character, who apparently is pretty awful and irredeemable, but that's not this Angie.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with your reaction.

In terms of the show, the ONLY healthy response to a mom that sold you to pedophiles starting at the age of five is to cut that person from your life for good. Angie is nowhere near healthy.

And this is the start of how/why Angie & Dr. Seth break up, I predict.

Diego & Ms. Sanchez were heartbreaking.

Yes, show, please do stop with these stories for Will / Angie / Ormewood.

Sadly, Ormewood's story rang true to me from what my friends who deal with the VA tell me.

They could do a spinoff: Mandy & Evie.

Except that he is a police officer in a major city and would have very good health insurance which he would use.

My father was eligible for VA health care but generally used his "regular" insurance he got through work because it was more convenient and less bureaucratic. He used VA for hearing aids which weren't covered by his "regular" insurance and then for some expensive medication which was free through the VA if prescribed by VA doctors.

Yep. They're not going to have to rely on VA for various work related injuries, much less other health issues. I guess they just wanted to put in a comment on how hard it can be for veteran's to get treated (which is very true).

I understand why they wanted to do a public service type of thing.

However the same point could be made without being completely inaccurate. Other shows have dealt with the issue by having veterans without alternative good health insurance have consequences because of falling through the cracks or otherwise having problems with the VA system.

Not that I begrudge police officers or other government employees, but health insurance benefits are one of the reasons people opt for jobs as often they have lower pay checks than they could earn in other private fields. My parents were both worked for a large city and their benefit package was good - especially so in terms of retirement with pensions as well as medical care in retirement being paid for.
