Why did Birdie refuse to confirm that she's the bio mom? Was that part of the deal she made with his mother? Or was she doing it because she herself fears the connection?

Brett? Is that the guy's name who works at the garden center and has the ex wife with the evil new husband? He should have calmly told her what happened, not gone in there hot and tantrummy. She still might not have believed him, but it would have increased his odds.

Catherine went to her mother instead of apologizing to the people she yelled at in Grosse Pointe? I thought that was kind of weird. I get that she wanted to repair her relationship with her mother, but she also really did behave very badly to the other gardeners.

It looked to me like they changed the color scheme at the garden-- all soft pastels and tall stuff. It looks nothing like what I remember them planting before.

What's her name-- wife of artist-- is still hiding the pregnancy extortion, isn't she? He wants kids and she doesn't. That will doom a marriage. So will lying.

Now they're bringing in 3 month signage.  I just can't pay attention to the time jumps anymore and will do my best to try to follow whatever storyline/time jumps that I can.

Oh, and a few coaching workouts with just pitching without batters or any other players does not lead one directly to professional baseball.  No experience?  No problem.  They really do live in a different world.

And, of course, bad new husband was setting up Brett for something.

I don't get Brett at all.

How many blow ups has he had with his ex wife's husband at this point? How many times has this guy made it clear he's a snake and an enemy? All the scheming and backstabbing this guy's done, the ordeal with the private investigator, the fact that this guy blatantly set him up and has now been fired because Brett reported him...all of this happened. Obviously this guy is going to go on a rampage. But the when he turns up late at night talking about needing to remove a stump, a clear allegory of needing to get Brett out of his life...Brett just hands him a pickaxe and turns away?

Just how dumb is Brett supposed to be here? Because his actions make no sense. All season long he's just been letting things happen to him. He's just been bending over and taking it. Everyone has just been having their way with him. And now he hands a weapon to a known enemy who was very clearly agitated, and then turns his back on him? Who is this dumb?

I assume she was feeling guilty after getting confronted about sleeping with that lady's husband, and felt like confirming to the kid that she's his mom (because he clearly knew) would have been a further betrayal of this woman. I think she probably also felt like it wasn't her place to further destabilize the kid's relationship with his parents. And why she chose this whole song and dance with the ex husband rather than telling her boyfriend 'hey, your wife knows, it's over" is another head scratcher. Why couldn't she just talk to him like a normal person?

It still boggles my mind that Alice didn't just flat out tell her husband that his mother was trying to blackmail her into having a baby. I can't believe she'd rather go into debt paying for her husband's art than to just tell him what his mother was doing. How was this inevitable blow up better? He'd have been way less devastated if she'd told him the moment she found out Mom was buying his art. Instead he was toiling away for weeks, thinking he had an audience and a market. Brutal. And Alice supposedly loves this man? Now he knows he's been played for a fool by the people closest to him. Insanely stupid.

People on this show make the stupidest decisions. And furthermore I can't wrap my mind around the fact that Alice's MIL's blackmail scheme to try and bully her into having a child is being treated with the same level of 'mild annoyance' as Catherine's mother rearranging her cutlery. This woman trying to bulldoze someone into having a child that they absolutely do not want is being handwaved as being kooky and annoying. I find it chilling that she's okay with trying to force someone to have a child they have explicitly said they don't want. Disrespectful doesn't begin to cover it.

I think they are just showing 3 months have passed since the start of the show. Presumably by the end of the season it will catch up and we see who dies.

So it's not Brett's ex's husband who is the dead body... sigh.  At this point they have eliminated who I consider to be the two most hateable characters on the show as the dead body.

How many episodes are in this season?  All signs are pointing to cancellation, I presume the show would be allowed to finish the season but it sure is taking its time getting there.

I like the four main characters, but apart from perhaps Birdie and the cop and her son, I find myself not really caring about their individual storylines.  Does that make sense?  I couldn't care less about Alice and her husband with the low self-esteem and lack of worth.  I don't care about her battle with her mother-in-law.  Don't care about Catherine's marriage.  The battle between Brett and the ex-wife's new husband was getting interesting but now that we know that the guy isn't dead, who cares.

I do think that she did have some kind of agreement with the mother.  But the kid figured it out on his own, she could have at least acknowledged it.  Also, isn't his mom (the one that raised him) Black?  Ford doesn't look anything but white.  Is Birdie supposed to be Latina on this show?  I know that the actress is Cuban and often plays Latinas (like Amy Santiago) but I would have thought she was white unless someone said something..

I can't believe that Catherine's mother doesn't have a maid, her kitchen was a wreak.

I think that was the issue, she gave up because Catherine's dad left her.  And decided to control Catherine's life because her own is out of control.

The actress playing the kids mom is "Puerto Rican, Peruvian Indian, and Japanese," according to Wikipedia. I also assume Melissa Fumero's Birdie is likely meant to be Latina.
