peridot March 23 Share March 23 It was weird that the President had people with him while he was taking a shower. I'm assuming that he hugged the engineer while he was naked, too. Wynter was very cold (no pun intended!), when he just wanted the engineer to move on to the next problem without thanking him for fixing the outstanding issue. This show throws so much out there, I forgot that people were rushing out of the White House for some reason. Facing an actual attack would have been so scary. It was good to see the bonding that came after the fact, I'm not sure it lasted long. LOL at the First Couple leaving behind the drunk mother. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152496-s01e07-the-adventure-of-the-engineers-thumb/#findComment-8614372
Zaffy March 23 Share March 23 And we learned why the president tolerates the blonde idiot and her "renovations", she is the daughter of a very rich man.. 6 hours ago, peridot said: LOL at the First Couple leaving behind the drunk mother. SnarkShark March 23 Share March 23 Huge respect for the lack of subtitles in the opening scene. It would have been intrusive and totally unnecessary. I have enough Spanish to get the gist, but firmly believe it would be perfectly clear what was going on even if I didn't. Or having them speak in English? Would have been even worse. Yay to assuming viewers have a brain. Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152496-s01e07-the-adventure-of-the-engineers-thumb/#findComment-8614683
twoods March 29 Share March 29 I was wondering why everyone tolerated that insufferable twit and her incompetence and stupid mood boards. The President is a jerk. Who is that obsessed with a shower? Seems to be a gene deficiency with those Morgans. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152496-s01e07-the-adventure-of-the-engineers-thumb/#findComment-8620069
OlderThanDirt March 29 Share March 29 I enjoyed the opening scene in Spanish but it made no sense when Elsyie spoke almost unaccented English on her job. Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152496-s01e07-the-adventure-of-the-engineers-thumb/#findComment-8620327

She speaks Spanish at home, and English at work. Makes sense to me. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152496-s01e07-the-adventure-of-the-engineers-thumb/#findComment-8620579

My high school Spanish would have given me just enough to get a bit of it, but I would have been annoyed at not knowing the rest. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the scene we've seen a few times with people running out the door (towards the back lawn) was from the night of the State dinner, not of the attack, which I think was months earlier. I'm not sure if it's been explained why people were running out the door the night of the State dinner. I was wondering when we were going to get to the housekeeper. They focused on her in the first episode or two, when Cordelia was going down the hall of the basement and Elyise was shutting the laundry room door. I figured they would get back to it. A great departure from how we saw him the night of the State dinner. I also loved the police chief going into extreme detail about Lily's background. At this point, I have absolutely no idea who killed AB. I'm really hoping they don't pull someone out of nowhere. My guess is that it isn't any of the "interesting" people we've already seen. My top 3 guesses (really just wild guesses) are the President, the First Gentleman, and the curator lady. (Edited to add: Jasmine has also been on and off my "who did it" list from the beginning. But I really don't want it to be her.) I sort of missed having no congressional hearing scenes this episode. I love the Franken vs. Senator from Colorado scenes. It was explained that a Secret Service vehicle crashed into the South (?) gate. The President is a jerk. Who is that obsessed with a shower? Seems to be a gene deficiency with those Morgans. The shower thing was based on Lyndon Johnson. He wanted multiple shower heads and he wanted the water to hit him with a needle-like intensity. He was so demanding that supposedly the White House plumber had to be hospitalized due to stress after years of presidential demands about more nozzles, a hotter water temperature, and complaints about the water pressure. When Richard Nixon moved into the White House, he had it returned to a standard shower. The current occupant of the White House also has a preoccupation with shower heads and water pressure. For more info, I recommend reading The Residence: Inside the Private World of the White House by Kate Andersen Brower, which was the source for many of these details about first families and their interactions with the permanent staff of the WH. 5 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152496-s01e07-the-adventure-of-the-engineers-thumb/#findComment-8631860

I grew up in Miami. Plenty of Cuban kids with no "Spanish" accent when speaking English, but spoke fluent Spanish at home with the Grandparents. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152496-s01e07-the-adventure-of-the-engineers-thumb/#findComment-8634124
