Maria Doyle Kennedy was in my all time favorite movie, The Commitments!

Brokenwood Mysteries is  a fave of mine, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a new season. Houseguest and I watched season one of Dark Winds, and we LOVED it. We're saving up season two for a time of less stress and chaos. Things are kind of busy around here at the moment.

I watched season one of Darby and Joan because I love and adore Bryan Brown. I'm keeping the next seasons in reserve. I also love Meera Syal, I watched a couple of episodes of Mrs. Sidhu Investigates, I must have gotten distracted because I haven't finished it.

Well its no Dubuque.

I was JUST talking about that movie yesterday to my man during our car ride!  Love that movie so much.  Dublin Soul!

I must start Dark Winds!!!! Also, Death in Paradise. I started it but forgot about it.

Dark Winds is so great. Zahn Mclarnon stars and he is just so wonderful, what a great actor. Takes place in the seventies and they do a great job creating the vibe. Death in Paradise is delightful. Wonderful characters, clever writing, lots of humor. I just love it.

I was on bed rest for a week before I had my son and I watched that movie every day. I quote it all the time. "J. Fagan!" "Its a very common name" "Not in Detroit" "Glad that dog has a muzzle" "Had to. Kept eating me bunnies". Now we both quote it all the time. I love it so very much.

OK bunkies, we made it at last. Thank you all for  amusing me so well. @Keywestclubkid don't overdo it! Make sure you are fully recovered before you start making pot roast. @sainte-chapelle, I hope you are well and sipping wine and watching murder shows soon. The rest of you, behave yourselves and don't violate your probation! Love you all, have a great weekend, smooches!

That was heart wrenching. I recall Brittany telling us about her neglectful addict mom and her drug use and the babies, but hearing it in detail like that…She was twelve?!? Poor child basically trafficked by child predators. It sounds like her parents didn’t even report her missing?!? They thought she was a different kidnapped girl, and when she gave her real name, eh, okay, no pings in the database of missing children or whatever? Wow. And it sounds like she spent a lot of time walking up and down the strip dealing drugs, so if anyone was looking for her, it sounds like they could have found her.

Damn, this is making me think I don’t have the emotional wherewithal to handle these stories. But then they’re going to hit me with next week are Louie and Lizzie?!? Oh, I can’t miss them… Show, the empathy you’re making me feel for these people is ruining my ability to snark on them. Though, it seems like more often than not it’s the law-abiding lovebird on the outside who is the object of our scorn, so maybe it won’t ruin me on this show altogether.

Hello All!  Please keep me from stress-shopping online.

Are you OK? Sometimes a spin through Ulta is required!

I want to shop but I can't find anything to buy. Sad face.

Lizzie's drug use really showed on her face when she was young.

She is another one who likes to brag. Not a reliable narrator. I think she had a really rough life. No need to try to make it sound like she was doing great.

As soon as she said she was making five hundred to a thousand a night I knew she was lying. Everyone who works for tips/commission lies about what they make.

I refuse to believe that a teacher in the aughts didn't know what a pipe was for.

Any anecdotes on offer? We are still frozen tundra up here. Today houseguest and I strapped on our mukluks and went to the post office to renew our  passports. Then had lunch to restore ourselves, for some reason this simple task sent us both into anxiety spirals. Glad to report a couple of cosmos and some yummy seafood fixed us right up.

I am dying here at Lizzie's choice of attire and venue. A pure white dress, and sitting angelically in what appears to be a church. Do we think she's going to say she's found Jesus? I think yes.

Shrimp alfredo from the strip club? It's the best!

I'm working this new contract job. It's a mess, with a lot of politics and stressed out people.  My coworker first had a screaming fit in a meeting, yelling at another person. Then she spent days feeling bad that he didn't accept her apology. Finally I ended up playing therapist for her to calm her down. At the same time, I know she sees me as competition and would like to push me out. To me it's a contract job so I earn something while I continue to look for regular employment. That is, I am not competing. I am just quietly doing my job.

Wow, are you in academia? People behave super weird at colleges. I remember when I worked, briefly, at the local college and heard tales of people throwing furniture at faculty meetings.

I'm having a family dinner Saturday. Those are usually fun. There will be eight of us. British theme..my BIL ordered some pies from our local pub and pie shop.

Sounds great! I'll be there about six. Need anything? Treacle tart? Sticky toffee pudding?
