It all may be equally fake, but I appreciated what seemed like an authentic moment between Christina & Tarek.  I hope they cut down on the scripted smack talk. I think they're all on good terms now, so maybe they'll make the show a friendly competition (not a rivalry) focused on the building/design aspects.

I'm betting the tabloid reports about Heather and Christina having an argument at the kid's soccer game was the filmed discussion that they showed last night.   It was all staged.

I'm so glad we've seen the last of Josh.   I never liked him, and glad he's gone.

Full disclosure up top: I'm only watching this for the messy soap opera dynamics, I have no dog in this fight whatsoever.

Now on to the show.....I did like the discussion between Christina and Tarek when she was telling him about breaking up with Josh. And for the messy - my eyes still saw a lot of sparks between the two. The opposite of love isn't hate, it's indifference, and neither is indifferent to the other. I don't know if it was for filming sake's but, Tarek did move closer to Christina on the couch as they were talking. I was waiting for him to hug her when she started crying, and it really looked like he wanted to.

Heather is an empty vessel to me. I look at her and think of that meme 'Ho, why is you here?' 🤷🏽‍♀️

It looks like Tarek has had some tightening done to his face. I don't like it, makes him look plastic.

I think you're reading more into it. I believe that after their divorce they made a commitment to treat each other with love & respect for the sake of their children, and I applaud that. Tarek isn't heartless, so of course he's going to comfort the mother of his children. Apparently Josh was/has been verbally abusive during their marriage, so I'm sure Christina appreciated Tarek's understanding and comfort. It's nice to see a loving, but cordial relationship that still exists between the two of them.

That's the way I saw it as well. I think Tarek and Heather really love each other, but Tarek will always have a bond with Christina as the mother of his first children. I don't want to see any home-wrecking drama, not with this trio. The kids have been through enough. And I like Heather from her Selling Sunset days. Genuinely kind and drama-free, although I never saw her sell a house. (But that's another story).

I didn't like Christina's main bedroom redo last night.   The lights looked like a butt crack with a light bulb in it, then they showed it was a triple butt crack light.     The bedroom is so tiny.      Too many patterns and different materials in the room.

If that was a house I could afford, I would pass on it, bedroom is small, and badly decorated with items like the tile that would be very expensive to change.

Making a Deal With the Ex, S01.E03

Living room challenge.

I liked Christina's living room so much better and I'm glad it won.     Tarek & Heather's room was unfinished, and sloppy, and I agree with the criticisms the judge had.  The spot above the cabinet where the built ins were suppposed to go was horrible.  The odd corner light was terribly out of place.  It would have looked better without that light.

Agreed but I felt a little bad when Tarek was complaining about the light and eating area, during the judging. He knows Heather is insecure about designing in general and esp when in competition with his ex-wife who has been designing for years. Tarek should not have said what he said in front of the others.

Those lights!  Just like a butt crack as you described. Can't imagine the moms wouldn't mention something about them.

I just want to know why almost all of the designs are pretty bad?  They are both capable of doing better, and I don’t even care for them as designers.

And Ant was right, how did they end up with such similar designs for the bedroom?  Both were ugly, but similar.

For their regular flips, I think they're all shopping the clearance section at whatever tile and finishes store they use, and it's all coming from their warehouse of bulk buys.    I'm sure Christina has a similar stock of finishes.

And as Soapy Goddess said, for the show the tile was donated for publicity, and they didn't have choices.

I found Ant's reason for picking Christina to win was pathetic.   I think it was just to even up the number of wins, and it's all a storyline.

Agreed. The light and table were just awkward in that corner, but she was determined to use that light somewhere there when she should've saved it to use in another room if she loved it that much. I thought it was dopey looking light. She should've put either a cool floor lamp or an indoor tree in that corner.

In this latest episode/challenge, I'm glad Ant finally pointed out how weird it is that Tarek basically married a Christina clone in looks and style and tastes, although Heather seems a lot nicer than Christina. It was also good to hear that Ant and Christina were able to make amends and become good co-parents. I didn't know Christina never gave Tarek a heads up about her marrying Ant. That was dirty.

Although I didn't like Ant's reasoning for picking Christina to win, I do think her guest bed and bath looked better than Tarek and Heather's. I love wood fluting on the wall, but Heather's just looked random and out of place, and that live edge desk didn't go with the room, either. Heather sure loves the LED light strips. She's used them in every room so far, hasn't she?

Another note, anyone else get the impression that Christina's new contractor (Mike?) is hoping to be Christina's next ex-husband?

I'm very glad that they are talking about peaceably co-parenting... we need more cooperation and less conflict on tv, particularly related to children. I appreciated Cristina's honesty about her and Ant's long road to get to that point.

However,  I did not like Cristina's conspiring with her daughter against Tarek. That's a big no no as a parent, divorced or not.  Not ok.

I feel for Heather trying to grow as a designer. When she showed her parents the last house, her nervousness was palpable. She also referred to her questionable(?)  past and hopes that they wd see how far she had come and can be proud of her accomplishments now.

I imagine they were less than happy about her marrying Tarek, given his past turbulence after the divorce with Cristina's. He does seem very wired and maybe n need of calming meds and therapy.

Totally agree. Even if it was done as "joke" it's not funny at all.

I must have missed the part about her past. Could you please fill me in?

I agree. Maybe a touch of ADHD?

I wish I could figure out how much of this show is scripted. Sometimes it feels real(ish), but more often than not I just feel like it's all set up for fake drama. I can't root for anyone because it will probably end up in a tie or something. Just like Christina winning last week was just about tying her up with Tarek and Heather.

Anytime she talks about Josh, I believe that's real...as I have a feeling she wants to let her fans understand what happened between the two of them.

Anytime she's with Tarek & Heather strikes me as mostly manufactured drama.

S1.E06 "The Final Flip Off" New, 3/5/2025

They do the exterior and landscaping.  Jeff Lewis is the final judge.

I really like the comments Jeff made.   Tarek and Heather won this challenge, but the overall winner is return on investment from selling price.   They have 30 days to sell, to determine the final winner.

If the homes don't sell in 30 days, then that person loses.  Christina thinks $1.1M or $1.2M , Tarek thinks $1.3M or $1.4M.  One of Christina's potential buyers is a couple that talked to Jeff Lewis about the house during the judging.

Both side tour the other's house.  Christina's looks nice.  T & H's looks nice too.  I like T & H's better.   On Christina's I dislike the primary wallpaper, and the kitchen counters are too busy.    Her house is listed at $995,000 hoping to start a bidding war.   If Christina gets $1.2M, then T & H have to sell theirs for $1.499M to win.

Sold prices are Christina's $1.125 M all cash.   T & H sold for $1.550M. (actually under contract)

All of the people who appeared on the show, and judges are at the announcement of the winner.

Winners:  Tarek and Heather better return on investment.

This hyper-annoying episode taught me that watching even one of these is one too many.

The competitive psychosis is distasteful. The egos insane, well, Tarek's anyway. Do more therapy, people, with real therapists.

Surprised over the design similarities? Hardly. Impressed? Not particularly, also, not my taste. Cliched TV design? Uh, you bet.

One and done. Also, the hyper-bloated episode should have been edited in half.

It's all in good fun...HGTV fans love it!

And as we saw at the end, Tarek, Heather & Christina are all good friends. Oh sure they love to bust each other's chops, but that's part of the HGTV drama that we're all used to.

It's the same drama on HH. Have you ever noticed how couples featured on HH are on completely opposite ends of the spectrum? You can't tell me that they're just finding this out about their partner during filming. Not to mention the fact that they've already bought and closed on their "compromise" house.
