AnimeMania November 21 Share November 21 Charles has some explaining to do when Emily unexpectedly arrives in town — and another missing item lands him in Elliott's cranky crosshairs. Premiere Date: November 21, 2024 Netflix Link to comment
General Days November 24 Share November 24 When I first realized the premise of this episode, I was afraid it was going to turn me off the show, but they did it well. I did think the schedule real Emily swiped from the office was too obvious under her sweater. I would've preferred if they'd given her a tote bag, had her stuff it in there, and then just be uneasy. Other than that small nit though, I enjoyed it. 1 Link to comment
chaifan November 25 Share November 25 I really liked that they just looped Emily in and didn't create some elaborate lie that would have snowballed to ridiculous proportions. And I love that Charles included Emily in on the spy game, the little finger to nose thing, and all that. I'm really loving the other residents as supporting cast. Again, I think the writers are doing a good job of making this funny without going sit-com stupid. So, is anyone else wondering if there's something to all those articles Charles has been sending Emily? There's going to have to be some epiphany moment for Emily, right? 7 Link to comment

Instead, they wrote it smart and (relatively) normal. I didn't have to pretend the characters had temporary lobotomies. 5 Link to comment

A future schedule wouldn't matter; did Emily find where the old schedule was? I know that a lot of the residents are recognizable actors, but I specifically wanted to point out that Florence is played by Margaret Avery, who played Shug Avery in the 1st Color Purple movie. Beyond daughter/niece real Emily will probably step forward as mom Link to comment

I was like “why isn’t anybody commenting on the giant clipboard under her sweater?” I don’t know the name of the actor who plays Calbert but I’m always happy to see him. He comes to mind immediately when I think of the movie version of “Fences.” 1 Link to comment
Bastet December 5 Share December 5 Iris from Roseanne! (The actor playing Susan.) I thought Charles should have just told his daughter what he was doing from the beginning, rather than making up the gardening, photography, painting class -- she's the one who challenged him to take up a hobby in the first place -- so was glad that when he got caught he just told her the truth. I liked her getting excited to help (and not having any idea what he was doing with his gesture from The Sting), although I agree with everyone else the schedule under her sweater was ridiculous. 3 Link to comment
