theartandsound Wednesday at 04:04 AM Share Wednesday at 04:04 AM I liked most of the episode. And I like Wendie Malick as an actress, BUT I MISS OLIVIA!!!!! Olivia was my favorite new character. She grew on me so much. I really want to know what happened, even thought neither the showrunners/NBC or India will say so. They had just settled into a great rhythm.... dammit. 4 Link to comment

I don't think anything nefarious happened. I really liked Olivia a lot but I do think that the show struggled with her character. I also think India de Beaufort's delivery veered towards old-timey slapstick that so few actresses can pull off and didn't fit the tone of the rest of the series. After Malick guest-starred last season, they probably decided to see if she'd be willing to join the cast because she's a comedic pro. Once they signed her, there was no room for Olivia. 1 Link to comment
Cress Wednesday at 05:45 AM Share Wednesday at 05:45 AM I didn't know Flobert was a lawyer. When we first met him, wasn't he a temporary clerk, until they hired Wyatt? Then he just kept hanging around the court with no apparent job. Now he was filling in for Olivia? So weird. And he somehow knew about Abby's dream. The drugged up mom mistaking Abby for Barbara 😄 Then Abby fearing that her dad was the father! 1 Link to comment
AnimeMania Wednesday at 06:28 AM Share Wednesday at 06:28 AM I thought when Flobert started he was a temporary judge. I have no idea what he does now. Link to comment
TheOtherOne Wednesday at 02:46 PM Share Wednesday at 02:46 PM Wow. I really only watched this for lack of anything else, even though I really haven't enjoyed it in a while and my comments last season were pretty negative...but that was actually really funny? And made me laugh out loud multiple times? What is happening? But yeah, that was hilarious. It feels a bit broader than before, but it actually worked and everything was clicking. The opening fake out, the hospital scene, whole cafeteria sequence, the final courtroom sequence. I really and without reservation enjoyed that. I don't quite know how I feel about that. But yeah, Flobert makes no sense. Kind of just have to roll with it. 2 Link to comment
kaygeeret Thursday at 12:09 AM Share Thursday at 12:09 AM I keep trying to give this show a chance and every time I watch (maybe 2 episodes each season) I find myself bored. Part of the problem may be that there are no voices of 'reason'. The original had Mack and Roz. Often caustic, very funny and top notch delivery. Everything about this version is hectic and everyone of off the beam in weird and often predictable and unfunny ways. I give up 3 Link to comment
Yeah No Saturday at 02:56 PM Share Saturday at 02:56 PM Yeah, I'm sticking with this show only because I love the actors and now with Wendie added to the cast I'm not going anywhere. I just don't find it all that funny. And I give up on figuring out what the deal is with Flobert and I'm already missing Olivia even though I didn't love her that much, lol. She brought a younger energy to the show I liked, although Wendie certainly has enough energy! Link to comment
kaygeeret Sunday at 12:40 AM Share Sunday at 12:40 AM I agree about Wendie's appeal and I will probably cave just to see how it is going. As talented as she is and even with Larroquette in the cast, I just don't see how she/they overcome the terrible writing and the frenetic acting. 2 Link to comment

I think it’s just the title. I can’t believe this has been renewed twice and so many good shows were given the ax. But idiocy is the norm these days. 3 Link to comment

Should "older" be associated with "cheap"? That definitely doesn't apply to Wendie Malick. She just came from a recurring role on "Young Sheldon", one of the most popular sitcoms in recent years. Before that she was on "The Middle", "American Housewife", and dozens of series going back over 3 decades. Her voice has been used on many animated series and movies and I've recognized her voice on a few commercials. I very much doubt she comes "cheap". 2 Link to comment

UnknownK 20 hours ago Share 20 hours ago Character actors don't make as much as the main cast, and those people get paid peanuts the first few seasons until the show is a major hit which this is not. Link to comment

After years on The Big Bang Theory, Rauch probably commands a pretty penny that might be made up for by giving her a producing credit and producing money. Laraquette likely also comes with a decent-sized quote as he has been a working actor for decades and his presence is kind of essential to making this show work. And he's still the best part about it. The cheaper cast included Olivia, the clerk and the Gurgs. Malick is still an actress who consistently works and I'd bet she's more expensive than a relatively unknown Ricci. I would guess that having it filmed live in front of a studio audience is cheaper than something like Modern Family or even St. Denis Medical so that might work in its favor. 1 Link to comment
