Seeing Jon Hamm as Monty Miller is like seeing Paul Marks in The Morning Show. Same vibes.

Demi Moore as Cami feels insignificant in these first two episodes.

Is Ainsley Norris a figment of Taylor Sheridan’s male fantasy? The sexualization of 17yo is just gross. Both Colm Feore (Nathan) and James Jordan (Dale) deserve a better material to work with, not soft-core porn for old men.

Is Rebecca Savage (a lawyer for M-Tex Oil) as dangerous and crafty as Yellowstone’s Sarah Atwood?

Landman feels like a copy/paste of Yellowstone but in Oil & Gas setting.

Toxic masculinity fantasies.

Although honestly when the whole French Fry thing was happening, I had to wonder why anyone would want to have anything to do with the insufferable twit.

Do you think the son is to blame for the fire because he was too slow getting the tool from the truck?

Billy Bob is what drew me to this show, I have never watched Yellowstone.

Maybe if he'd found the tool faster, the explosion could have been avoided, but the guy hitting the pipe was experienced and he should have recognized the danger and stopped using an inappropriate tool before something bad happened. There was no rule that said he had to keep hitting it until the right tool was found; he could have just waited. It really was his own fault, and the other guys who were also experienced didn't do anything to prevent it either.

I’m enjoying this. BBT is perfect for this role, he hits all the tones of someone so good at what they do but so weary. Talk about a high stress job. I love the banter with the ex wife and I love me some Ali Larter. Taylor Sheridan always starts strong IMO, but wanes as time goes on. I’m finding Yellowstone unwatchable at this point so maybe Landman just caught me in a weak moment. I like seeing these industries I know nothing about, I don’t know how accurate but it holds my attention. And my gosh but Demi is just stunning still, I hope she gets more to do, and my love of Jon Hamm has lasted since Mad Men so I never tire of seeing him on my screen. Brilliant casting by Sheridan.

I agree!  I would watch BBT read the dictionary because his delivery is always pitch perfect to me and this role has enough meat in it to showcase what makes him so interesting to watch.

(Off topic: BBT and Vince Vaughn are my favourite actors and if you are a fan of Vaughn's, I highly recommend Bad Monkey if you have not seen it.  It was the perfect role for him, too.)

I'm thrilled to have had both these guys back on my tv screen this year.

The establishing shot of the Norris home made me think of Southfork. Wonder if that was a deliberate nod by Sheridan?

I am completely over Ainsley and her lack of appropriate physical boundaries with Tommy and other men in her vicinity. I think Tommy needs to rein her in.

Why does a guy Tommy's age have roommates, his corporate attorney and his petroleum engineer? Seems weird to me unless there's no other place for them to to live nearby and Tommy wants them to be on hand.

I did not need to see Tommy cutting off the tip of his pinkie with an unsanitized switchblade. In a hospital.

Tommy talking unrelenting shit to a Texas cop was interesting.

I don't think coconut oil is a safe replacement for suntan oil, is it?

Guess Michelob Ultra paid for product placement.

So far I'm liking the cut of Rebecca Falcone's jib. Bet she and Tommy will be having hate sex eventually.

Cooper is definitely not fond of his bratty little sis. Yikes on that closing diatribe he delivered about her. He and Ainsley are like the Jamie and Beth Dutton of Landman.

I also don't understand it.

He appears to be relatively high up in terms of his position and responsibilities in the company.

He handles all kinds of stuff effectively and appears to be willing to risk his life for the company - with the opening scene and when he shut down the well instead of getting in the truck to race off to safety :-)

If a roughneck with a prison record and no education can make in excess of $100,000 how it Tommy not earning $1 million or more with salaries and bonuses?

Of course there can be a back story of gambling, addiction; bad divorce settlements but it still doesn't explain why he need two roommates or why a corporate lawyer is one of them. Can't the corporate lawyer afford their own apartment?

The valve was bad/stuck It would have been bad with the right sized tool.  The fire happened because he was hitting the valve to unstick it when a spark happened.  He still would have been hitting it with the right sized tool.

And that's why I was screaming at my TV. Even someone  like me who's never been within 1500 miles of a Texas oilfield knows that steel-on-steel will spark if hit. Why they didn't have a big-ass 6-point wrench with about 10 feet of pipe for exactly this kind of thing is beyond me. It's easier on the fastener, or valve in this case, and there's no potential for sparks. Handy when dropping a vehicle's fuel tank, too!

Yes that was annoying. The fact that she told her father to throw away the fries, and he did even though he wanted them, was ridiculous! And she is clearly showing signs of an eating disorder or at least food issues with the whole three fries thing.

I didn't need all the scenes of her half naked, but I did admire how the older guy was facing the other way and trying not to look at her. But the way she acted with her father was a little creepy to me. Put some clothes on.

I would think that house was owned by the oil company and the people staying there are getting it as part of their compensation saving them a ton of money.

Anytime you have an oil boom in the middle of nowhere where uneducated workers are paid $100K+ the costs of everything in that area skyrocket especially rental apartments.

For example:

Williston, North Dakota

In 2014, Apartment Guide ranked Williston as having the highest apartment rents in the United States, with an average rent of $2,394 per month for a one-bedroom apartment. The high rents were due to the large number of oil workers in the Bakken region.

So, you get paid well but you also pay crazy prices for everything while working there.
